my sister and i went with our parents to RODNEY's again, tonight

i was accosted by some drunkard who congratulated me on tying my scarf "THE EUROPEAN WAY"

i then ate a mayonnaise sandwich (practically) which made me feel queasy.

what's marty coniglio saying now, keith?

How did I get branded the food snob of the fam?

Mom gets so stressed out about MEALS when I'm around. I must criticize too much.

not sure about pickles (Jacqui Pickles), Wednesday, 16 November 2005 06:17 (eighteen years ago) link

you are like A FOOD CRITIC, apparently

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Wednesday, 16 November 2005 06:19 (eighteen years ago) link

I just don't want my food from a box, jeez. Is that so much to ask? For priding herself on having no emotions, Mom sure is sensitive about her COOKING.

I can't wait to chug some bazookas at Romas! Annnnd... man, what else will be going on? We gonna catch the new HP? Is that gay cowboy movie gonna be out?

not sure about pickles (Jacqui Pickles), Wednesday, 16 November 2005 06:24 (eighteen years ago) link

oooo romas!!!! definitely hp. also, maybe, dancing with andrew.

food in boxes is ok with me.

Hello Wrights. I hope you enjoy your Colorado Thanksgiving. I'm going to have a Connecticut Thanksgiving. In Connecticut. (As opposed to having a Connecticut Thanksgiving in Colorado.)

But before I fly east, I will see the HOLY MODAL ROUNDERS movie at the Starz theatre as part of the Denver Film Festival, and afterwards Peter Stampfel will perform. I saw Weber & Stampfel play a couple of times in the early '80s, once at Folk City and once at the Mudd Club (these were in some city to the east of Denver by a good bit). I gave Stampfel a copy of my band's demo tape.

i am still digging out of my snow grave. i was in town and those guys who go around protesting construction sites that don't use union labor need to get some new slogans to shout 'no justice, no peace' is tired. most everyone who works downtown looks miserable to me. but i was carrying an axe.

I would like to come to Denver one day but geographically the chances are slim.

my parents are visiting denver next week. my dad will only want to golf

This was at least the second opportunity on this thread for a feckless Brit to pipe up with Things To Do In Denver With Your Dad hyuk-hyuk and I can't let it pass now.

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Wednesday, 11 October 2006 15:29 (seventeen years ago) link

i never saw that movie!(a DAD in Scotland piped up about that movie as well).

AND, I wish you would come to Denver.

gunther heartymeal (keckles), Wednesday, 11 October 2006 16:20 (seventeen years ago) link

I had a relative complain recently about Denver's homeless population.

A.) Of all the things I've heard negative about Denver, it's always been "bland", "too far away from everything", "expensive", etc. I hadn't heard complaints about the transient population, though.

B.) I still don't get complaints about homeless people. You may get an occassional aggressive dude, just like you may get the occassional someone at the table next to yours incessantly jabbering into his cellphone. Besides that, they're just people who have a lot more problems than you do.

C.) Even if I were to bitch about homeless people, how could I possibly start with Denver? Those hobo's riding unicycles down the avenues of Berkeley, now THERE are some people I can roll my eyes at.

Pleasant Plains /// (Pleasant Plains ///), Wednesday, 11 October 2006 16:39 (seventeen years ago) link

I never saw the movie either, and my impression was that it fared poorly at the box office, and left little mark on the popular culture. Yet people from far off places (Denmark, e.g) reference it to me. I guess it's what we have. That, Columbine and Elway.

I went to Denver last winter, about a decade since I'd last been there, and it was WAY MORE GIGANTICKER than before. You guys have probably noticed that. I seemed to remember that once upon a time one drove from Denver to the mountains, whereas this time it was more like we drove through Denver and were in the mountains before we even finished.

i tried to tell my 5 y/o--"this is one of the best times for you, you get to go to sleep hoping for a snow day." im pretty sure he'll get it this time.

What are the pluses and minuses of living in Denver? We really liked the city and almost vaguely thought we would want to live there, but it might have been like that Cleveland episode of 30 Rock.
