I think my parents only ever fed me garlic growing up
I'm only slightly exaggerating when I say my mom just made variations on hamburger helper or shake and bake chicken.

One of Mr Veg's favorite things that his mom makes is an enchilada thing that has ground beef, black olives AND chopped hardboiled eggs in it.
I get anxious diarrhea just thinking about it.

I would be very interested in authentic Sriracha sauce. The "sriracha sauce" that is in asian restaurants across the US is very awesome but according to Thai people (even those who like it) isn't really what they would call Sriracha sauce. They call it "cock sauce."

Someone like Troma could make a terrific low-budget with a Guy Fieri knockoff as an actual Hellspawn. The condemned are lured to the Underworld via restaurant. Give the whole thing a KILLER KLOWNS vibe and I'm first in line for the Blu-Ray. And I don't even have a Blu-Ray!

as I like to relate, I read a Cook's Illustrated editorial once where Kimball wrote admiringly about the practice of chopping off a thief's hands. About a paragraph after he snarks about a kindergarten graduation or somesuch.

Kind of scared to read the Frugal Gourmet article because of how much time I spent watching that show when I was a kid. It really hit me with this amazing sense that people ate other things that I didn't even know existed, like garlic and actual fish and such.
I swear that and Yo MTV Raps were like the two most influential shows from my childhood.

it was part of a larger musing about how important and wonderful hands are, and how there was a certain respect for hands something something. It just was bonkers. It didn't scan as sarcasm.

Applebees has terrible food BUT they have a lot of draft beers and a big drink menu. So if I had a gift card I know what I would put it towards.
