After a Hearts fan and a Celtic fan,

Two Celtic fans, if the publicity machine at Celtic Park is to be believed, i.e. drape a Celtic flag round Ken Doherty's neck, send him out to do the half-time raffle, hurrah, we have another celebrity fan.

I did stay up and watch it, but my laptop is knackered so I went off to bed and watched it on the portable. I never want to see an hour-plus frame of snooker again as long as I live (though the will to live may well desert me and leave me with little choice should that ever come up again). Well done Graeme. Not a bad first tournament to start your trophy haul with.

eight months pass...
not quite the right thread but.. masters final. 8-3 to ronnie, ding looks to be giving up, shook ronnie's hand at the midsession interval looking like he's about to cry, ronnie puts arm around ding and they both went back to ronnie's dressing room.

this is surely staged to compete with big brother?

ken c (ken c), Sunday, 21 January 2007 21:02 (eighteen years ago)

:(

I thought Ding would be favourite. He's the new god of sport.

Poor little guy! I think he's having a right panic, and just needs a hug.

However, he can at least console himself with that £35,000 he got from making a 147.

Suedey (John Cei Douglas), Sunday, 21 January 2007 21:08 (eighteen years ago)

Louis - your boy's got no heart.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Sunday, 21 January 2007 21:11 (eighteen years ago)

that 147 was truly brilliant, and I saw it live! :D

hmm, this kinda thing was probably always going to happen eventually. he keeps his emotions so cooped up, so hidden, that such an outpouring was practically inevitable were things to go really, really badly.

to scour or to pop? (Haberdager), Sunday, 21 January 2007 21:13 (eighteen years ago)

apparently he may have got upset by something the crowd has said

ken c (ken c), Sunday, 21 January 2007 21:14 (eighteen years ago)

jade's in the crowd

ken c (ken c), Sunday, 21 January 2007 21:14 (eighteen years ago)

probably finally had enough of 'ding' puns.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Sunday, 21 January 2007 21:18 (eighteen years ago)

poor ding

ken c (ken c), Sunday, 21 January 2007 21:30 (eighteen years ago)

lol at ronnie's "If ya feelin' me MAKE SOME NOISE!!!!" hand gestures.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Sunday, 21 January 2007 21:37 (eighteen years ago)

that was pretty comprehensive, then.

to scour or to pop? (Haberdager), Sunday, 21 January 2007 21:39 (eighteen years ago)

O'Sullivan's on another level, man. The only man that can beat him is himself. Unfortunately he does that quite a lot.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Sunday, 21 January 2007 21:41 (eighteen years ago)

I reckon Ding will be at that level pretty soon, personally. He'll be, as Ronnie says, a World Champion, and probably within 3 or 4 years.

to scour or to pop? (Haberdager), Sunday, 21 January 2007 21:43 (eighteen years ago)

O'Sullivan's on another level, man. The only man that can beat him is himself. Unfortunately he does that quite a lot.

that's how he practices his cue action innit, beating himself and that.

Ali Carter (Eng) v Andy Hicks (Eng)
Stephen Hendry (Sco) v David Gilbert (Eng)

Dom Passantino, Sunday, 22 April 2007 11:21 (eighteen years ago)

Anyway, Dott is out, so at least we're guaranteed a mildly interesting final. Although blah blah blah final in the first round blah blah blah. S'a shame L***s J****r is too busy trying to rebuild family bridges to post here anymore, it'd be nice to hear him try and defend his boy as O'Sullivan guts him again.

Dom Passantino, Sunday, 22 April 2007 11:23 (eighteen years ago)

Can't wait for Ronnie-Ding re-match!

Hoping Hendry gets knocked out early..

xyzzzz__, Sunday, 22 April 2007 11:30 (eighteen years ago)

A decent run for Judd Trump would be interesting as well, considering he's snooker's great white hope.

Dom Passantino, Sunday, 22 April 2007 11:36 (eighteen years ago)

Wow, this is an evenly matched and balanced encounter.

Dom Passantino, Sunday, 22 April 2007 15:14 (eighteen years ago)

Great sense of timing ;-) Ding has just gone on to make a 100 break.

xyzzzz__, Sunday, 22 April 2007 15:35 (eighteen years ago)

I can't predict shit.

Dom Passantino, Sunday, 22 April 2007 15:36 (eighteen years ago)

nah you were doing ok - looked like 5-2, but Ronnie got the last, I think he's moving in for the kill now.

xyzzzz__, Sunday, 22 April 2007 16:02 (eighteen years ago)

Ding's not playing badly, but on form O'Sullivan is always gonna be >>> on form Ding.

Dom Passantino, Sunday, 22 April 2007 16:04 (eighteen years ago)

I dunno I don't get the impression Ding ws up for this today...but now that O'Sullivan has got going that is probably that.

xyzzzz__, Sunday, 22 April 2007 16:07 (eighteen years ago)

We saw this in December though, he's mentally weak. I suppose that's what happens when you're a superstar with 200 million cheering you on in your home country, and then you turn up as a stranger in a strange land and you're on your own.

Dom Passantino, Sunday, 22 April 2007 16:08 (eighteen years ago)

Eight frames in, and O'Sullivan has a 98% pot percentage.

Dom Passantino, Sunday, 22 April 2007 16:09 (eighteen years ago)

Not sure about that - he is really young, and has coped really well with the pressure so far, as in he has won a few tournaments and not disappeared.

I wonder how much the crucible venue plays into it.

I think at the Masters O'Sullivan gave an awesome display but also Ding doesn't appear to have a plan B if things are going wrong. The way he plays suits Ronnie just fine.

xyzzzz__, Sunday, 22 April 2007 16:13 (eighteen years ago)

Davis vs Parrott, paradoxically, is a cracker of a match. More sports need old guys hanging around for ages refusing to retire.

Dom Passantino, Sunday, 22 April 2007 16:49 (eighteen years ago)

How did that end-ah!? Davis vs Parrott?

t**t, Monday, 23 April 2007 17:03 (eighteen years ago)

Parrot beat him 10-9

Dom Passantino, Monday, 23 April 2007 17:05 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, that ws a gd game.

xyzzzz__, Monday, 23 April 2007 17:12 (eighteen years ago)

10-9 !?
o'o'o-boy.

t**t, Monday, 23 April 2007 17:21 (eighteen years ago)

A decent run for Judd Trump would be interesting as well, considering he's snooker's great white hope.

He lost 10-6 to Murphy in the 1st round.

I suppose he can go back to being in McFly.

onimo, Monday, 23 April 2007 22:19 (eighteen years ago)

my god, would you look at the state of that, Steady Eddie will be turning in his grave.

CarsmileSteve, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 09:47 (eighteen years ago)

has anybody cried yet?

ken c, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 10:22 (eighteen years ago)

I saw Trump/Murphy, I get the feeling that Trump didn't hang around with kids like Murphy at school. Still, now Hunter's dead we need a new pretty boy I suppose.

Dom Passantino, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 11:06 (eighteen years ago)

Hendry is currently losing 5-1 to David Gilbert (who?).

Stephen Maguire brushed Joe Perry aside, maybe he'll finally reach the level I thought he was capable of a couple of years ago (i.e. Teh New Rocket).

onimo, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 16:21 (eighteen years ago)

Hendry came back from 5-1 to win 10-7. Might be a good bet at 10/1 if Ronnie's going to blow up/retire/play with a tea towel on his head.

onimo, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 14:27 (eighteen years ago)

Well done Carter on the nice demolition job: 12-4 against Hendry.

Higgins looking GOOD!! BAFFLING and WRONG to me how he's only won this thing once.

xyzzzz__, Sunday, 29 April 2007 21:04 (eighteen years ago)

OMG one of the referees is a female woman! What about tradition and stuff? Shocking!

StanM, Monday, 30 April 2007 12:59 (eighteen years ago)

how can you understand and apply the miss rule if you don't even know how to drive?

ken c, Monday, 30 April 2007 14:09 (eighteen years ago)

oh man i thought my <21.5 frame game bet for o'sullivan v robertson was safe except now it's 8-8.

bastards.

ken c, Monday, 30 April 2007 14:11 (eighteen years ago)

Selby's three centuries in a row were v good.

Gukbe, Monday, 30 April 2007 14:24 (eighteen years ago)

How awesome is Robertson - O' Sullivan? On the 20th frame, and some of the shots Ronnie played to get to 30 (made 80-odd) - just fantastic.

10-10 at the break.

xyzzzz__, Monday, 30 April 2007 19:01 (eighteen years ago)

Robertson's comeback from 8-3 down was great.

Gukbe, Monday, 30 April 2007 19:25 (eighteen years ago)

11-10 robertson vs the rocket and the commentators are making comments 'bout lucky aussies and the cricket- let it go people!

optimus, Monday, 30 April 2007 20:01 (eighteen years ago)

Looks like its Ronnie after Robertson missed a straight pink.

Selby made six centuries to knock out Ebdon!!
