Do you tip at dim sum? I would have thought yes but the dude from china I was eating with said no, and the person behind the counter crossed out the tip line on the credit card thing

in general Chinese people are not used to tipping

only white people feel so entitled to give/receive tips

I think it depends on the context, like if it's $18 cause the place is ripping you off or if it's $18 because it's some crazy drink that involves lots of preparation

I would never pay $18 for a cocktail.

I would run out of the place and never go back.

I always tip $1 per drink if ordering at the bar. This is partially to encourage establishments to avoid having $18 drinks.
