No wait that doesn't make sense either.

xp - No, I think it was Ros that'd been squealing to Varys. I thought the whole scene was a good and timely reminder that Littlefinger (who doesn't seem to have actually done too much in a while) has got his finger absolutely on the pulse, that he is more than capable of playing Varys at his own game and that he is just as merciless and dangerous as all the other players.
Obviously it also demonstrates how casually Varys, for all his talk of being a guy working only for the good of the realm, throws comparative innocents into the line of fire without unduly worrying about it.
I really enjoy that whole angle of this second sub-level of political maneuvering between Littlefinger and Varys beneath the high-level posturing between Tywin and Tyrion and Olenna and Robb Stark / whoever else. No one seems to be keeping close enough eyes on the pair of them, given how clever and influential they are.
Not too bothered about the casual way of writing Ros out as I was never especially keen on her anyway. Not essential to anything happening in the plot, too often used for clumsy exposition, basically an opportunity to get a pair of naked breasts into every episode regardless of what else was going on.
I thought the Theon / mystery man torture stuff was fine as well, but admittedly that is with the benefit of having read those scenes in the books. And the climbing-the-Wall scene was very good. Solid episode

Yeah I'd forgotten about the scene where Ros showed Varys the ship manifest.
The scene on the wall is fantastic and hopefully John Snow is over it for good now because all that endlessly wandering around in blizzards was getting fucking boring. Kind of assuming that, at some point, Rob Stark is going to be basically legally required to execute his brother for having deserted the Night's Watch?
The scene with Olenna and Tywin was straight up awesome.

check out the osha actress irl on youtube btw, woof
what does your "woof" signify? not being smart, just curious as she is sort of hilarious imo. an interview i saw she was all geezerish accent talking about how she thought osha should have had a really "hairy minge" and was annoyed the crew didn't give her enough notice to grow hers in time for the naked scene in s2.

"Rob Stark is going to be basically legally required to execute his brother for having deserted the Night's Watch?"
Except the Night Watch is completely fucked now, right? It's like moving away suddenly and not telling your job then when you get back you're not sure what will happen except nothing does because the job was at Border's.

certain this is covered upthread but the band played the potter premiere and did a cover of the theme from super mario. by all accounts she's a bit of a wildling in real life.

Her acting on GoT annoys me because she seems incapable of ever speaking without cocking her head at an exaggerated angle. Who does that?

the phrase "a bit of a wildling in real life" is making me laugh and i don't quite know why.i guess i am imagining wildlings commuting on the subway, hanging out at the bar etc.

I don't know that I'd want to base my marriage on any from Westeros. Even with Catelyn and Ned, Catelyn didn't even want to marry him but eventually came around to liking him. And that's probably the best marriage out of all of them!

they could've had 3 scenes with theon total all season and they would've achieved just as much as they have. this time was definitely gratuitous in just about every way possible. grrm wrote this one and i imagine he has been disappointed with the full frontal noodz count in s3 so far.
