Ismael is that a Ride drum sample?

MaresNest, Monday, 5 May 2014 18:59 (ten years ago) link

Aaaarrrggghhh. Shitty wi-fi won't let me hear this.

A frenzied geologist (Tom D.), Monday, 5 May 2014 19:02 (ten years ago) link

i was wondering why it wouldn't play for me. is that why?

funch dressing (La Lechera), Monday, 5 May 2014 19:03 (ten years ago) link

MaresNest htf did you spot that?! It's the intro to Dreams Burn Down, chopped up slightly.

Ismael Klata, Monday, 5 May 2014 19:06 (ten years ago) link

The two episodes where it drops out of time a little are down to me messing up when trying to change tempo, obviously Loz is blameless as ever.

Ismael Klata, Monday, 5 May 2014 19:08 (ten years ago) link

Just geeky I guess :) Although Loz is all over the shop in that little intro, Bonham he ain't

MaresNest, Monday, 5 May 2014 19:21 (ten years ago) link

Loving Tom's multitracked Fripp guitars

MaresNest, Monday, 5 May 2014 19:23 (ten years ago) link

Thanks ken. Sorry for bustin' your chops.

Immediate Follower (NA), Monday, 5 May 2014 19:24 (ten years ago) link

Are people listening to this on Soundcloud? If so, how the feck are they doing it?

A frenzied geologist (Tom D.), Monday, 5 May 2014 19:24 (ten years ago) link

I'm listening to it via the soundcloud iphone app, seems to be working fine.

Immediate Follower (NA), Monday, 5 May 2014 19:25 (ten years ago) link

On my macbook at home, working fine too

MaresNest, Monday, 5 May 2014 19:27 (ten years ago) link

i can't get it to do anything either, bit shit as i'm itching for some february 2014 nostalgia.

Merdeyeux, Monday, 5 May 2014 19:27 (ten years ago) link

listening at work. no problems.

how's life, Monday, 5 May 2014 19:27 (ten years ago) link

I listened to the whole thing without any problems

Turtleneck Work Solutions (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Monday, 5 May 2014 19:29 (ten years ago) link

At this moment I am on one of my perennial coach journeys from hell (actually from Glasgow to London) (but hey it's cheap) and am subject to the in-coach WiFi so can absolve ken of any blame this time.

A frenzied geologist (Tom D.), Monday, 5 May 2014 19:37 (ten years ago) link

dig yr Fripp/Rother guitar playing Tom, no amount of money would persuade me to suffer thru one of those Glasgow-London coach trips again tho :p

( X '____' )/ (zappi), Monday, 5 May 2014 19:46 (ten years ago) link

this is really good

it holds together suprisingly well as a weird little lo-fi experimental pop record haha

dollar rave club (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Monday, 5 May 2014 19:52 (ten years ago) link

Good stuff. Lots of instrumentals and near-instrumentals.

Immediate Follower (NA), Monday, 5 May 2014 20:31 (ten years ago) link

just listening to this now!

Karl Malone, Monday, 5 May 2014 21:34 (ten years ago) link

i still can't get it to play!

funch dressing (La Lechera), Monday, 5 May 2014 21:39 (ten years ago) link

yay! thanks ken and contributors. sounding good so far.

the ghosts of dead pom-bears (a passing spacecadet), Monday, 5 May 2014 21:47 (ten years ago) link

this is very nice

particularly enamoured w/ ken's, NBS' and trayce's

imago, Monday, 5 May 2014 21:55 (ten years ago) link

oh and NA/LL obvs

imago, Monday, 5 May 2014 22:00 (ten years ago) link

but a very consistent set and it makes for a sweet listen-thru

imago, Monday, 5 May 2014 22:01 (ten years ago) link

haha I shdn't have picked favourites, MaresNest's now rly rly growing on me second time around, which makes sense given our shared sensibilities. the whole thing will presumably have great replay appeal

imago, Monday, 5 May 2014 22:06 (ten years ago) link

hehe, yeah i always hesitate to mention specific tracks too, for the same reason. really dig LL/NA's track though.

Karl Malone, Monday, 5 May 2014 22:09 (ten years ago) link

listening now!
so proud to be in such talented company!

funch dressing (La Lechera), Monday, 5 May 2014 22:18 (ten years ago) link

tom d - who is hans krankl? loved the swell of this song!
KM - can you tell me more about pineapple? it's masterfully nightmarish!
britishers + trayce tbrr i am really enjoying hearing your voices
also the sequencing has been great! loved "by this river" as the last song too.
thanks ken c, sorry for giving you a hard time
"he walked on two keys repeatedly" :D

funch dressing (La Lechera), Monday, 5 May 2014 22:47 (ten years ago) link

?

he looks kinda like a bloated terence stamp in that picture

funch dressing (La Lechera), Monday, 5 May 2014 23:52 (ten years ago) link

Yet to get to listen to this, am at work - but thanks for the props guys :) I was worried ppl would think I desecrated Eno :(

the Bronski Review (Trayce), Monday, 5 May 2014 23:57 (ten years ago) link

the fact the 10 on Arsh's shirt is canted in the same italicised way as the title makes it look like this album is called Freestyler 10

this is bugging me

imago, Tuesday, 6 May 2014 01:35 (ten years ago) link

the compilation is absolutely a grower tho

i know - noticed that, but then couldn't be arsed to update it thought it was more interesting that way

^ 諷刺 (ken c), Tuesday, 6 May 2014 08:53 (ten years ago) link

Have managed to hear about half of this so far. Great stuff! Well done all!

tom d - who is hans krankl?

The track was originally called "Franz Klammer", and so tied in with the Winter Olympics, but in a fit of pique I suggested ken rename it "Hans Krankl" as the release date crept ever closer to the start of the (football) World Cup and the Winter Olympics 2014 became a distant memory. Hans Krankl being the most famous Austrian footballer of the 70s (as Klammer was the most famous Austrian downhill skier of the 70s). I wish I hadn't now as "Franz Klammer" is more appropriate and a better title!

A frenzied geologist (Tom D.), Tuesday, 6 May 2014 11:09 (ten years ago) link

it totally sounds like the winter olympics! i really liked it.

funch dressing (La Lechera), Tuesday, 6 May 2014 12:44 (ten years ago) link

would you like me to change it back Tom? I can see what can be done..

^ 諷刺 (ken c), Tuesday, 6 May 2014 12:46 (ten years ago) link

also the blurbs (only 2 songs have one) have been added to the "comments" tag of the .flac file but again this doesn't show on soundcloud i think

^ 諷刺 (ken c), Tuesday, 6 May 2014 12:47 (ten years ago) link

Well, change it back if you can ken

A frenzied geologist (Tom D.), Tuesday, 6 May 2014 14:39 (ten years ago) link

i'll give it a go - hopefully doesn't take me 2 months ;)

^ 諷刺 (ken c), Tuesday, 6 May 2014 14:44 (ten years ago) link

Just had a listen, very good work everyone.

emil.y, Tuesday, 6 May 2014 15:20 (ten years ago) link

Track three: I don't think Can ever did dub reggae, but if they had...

Mark G, Wednesday, 7 May 2014 08:37 (ten years ago) link

They did reggae for sure. That track is totally 1979/80... which is a major compliment in my book.

A frenzied geologist (Tom D.), Wednesday, 7 May 2014 09:40 (ten years ago) link

Ah, I meant with Damo. But, yes.

Mark G, Wednesday, 7 May 2014 12:57 (ten years ago) link

yeah not to blow our collective trumpet too much but this whole album is str8 fucken awesome and I been listening to it front-to-back on a v v regular basis

verhzleyavbtreleambreb (imago), Saturday, 10 May 2014 10:49 (ten years ago) link

particularly enamoured w/ ken's, NBS' and trayce's

thanks, btw

Turtleneck Work Solutions (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Saturday, 10 May 2014 17:41 (ten years ago) link

Yeah it's a good track. How come you had it sitting around for twenty years? What was it initially?

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 10 May 2014 17:59 (ten years ago) link
