ILX Compilation v6: FREESTYLER - rock your microphone

Are people listening to this on Soundcloud? If so, how the feck are they doing it?

I'm listening to it via the soundcloud iphone app, seems to be working fine.

On my macbook at home, working fine too

i can't get it to do anything either, bit shit as i'm itching for some february 2014 nostalgia.

I listened to the whole thing without any problems

At this moment I am on one of my perennial coach journeys from hell (actually from Glasgow to London) (but hey it's cheap) and am subject to the in-coach WiFi so can absolve ken of any blame this time.

dig yr Fripp/Rother guitar playing Tom, no amount of money would persuade me to suffer thru one of those Glasgow-London coach trips again tho :p

this is really good

it holds together suprisingly well as a weird little lo-fi experimental pop record haha

tom d - who is hans krankl?

The track was originally called "Franz Klammer", and so tied in with the Winter Olympics, but in a fit of pique I suggested ken rename it "Hans Krankl" as the release date crept ever closer to the start of the (football) World Cup and the Winter Olympics 2014 became a distant memory. Hans Krankl being the most famous Austrian footballer of the 70s (as Klammer was the most famous Austrian downhill skier of the 70s). I wish I hadn't now as "Franz Klammer" is more appropriate and a better title!

also the blurbs (only 2 songs have one) have been added to the "comments" tag of the .flac file but again this doesn't show on soundcloud i think

They did reggae for sure. That track is totally 1979/80... which is a major compliment in my book.

Yeah it's a good track. How come you had it sitting around for twenty years? What was it initially?

I just made demos on a four-track in the 90s with my guitar, a second hand drum machine and a mate's bass if I could borrow it. They weren't really for anything, there wasn't ever going to be a group or a live performance or anything. That track is a reworking of something from about 1994, done in about 2000 or 2001 when I was in Italy (so without access to a bass). I think the master cassette was getting very near the end when I recorded it, which has made it sound a bit wobbly, but it's just about get-away-able-with.

I haven't done anything since 2001/02. I bought a Focusrite interface thing* a while back which came with Ableton Live Lite, with the intention of trying to start recording things again. I even bought a keyboard with drum pad things on. But there never seems to be enough time to learn how anything works or how to play it.

*clearly I know nothing about the technicalities
