Alba (Alba), Friday, 28 October 2005 17:34 (nineteen years ago)

When you say "Ally could go there" are you talking about paisley or the cathouse?

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 28 October 2005 17:35 (nineteen years ago)

Oh, I meant the Cathouse.

Alba (Alba), Friday, 28 October 2005 17:37 (nineteen years ago)

Getting fellated and getting chased by an axe-wielding maniac (as opposed to just an axe) are the sort of things that could happen to him in Paisley too. I was just checking.

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 28 October 2005 17:44 (nineteen years ago)

on a more salubrious note, ailsa: how did you get on with mister charlie chuck, glasgow's leading mountain-climbing editor?

alba: this should enlighten you. pip pip.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Friday, 28 October 2005 18:27 (nineteen years ago)

Grimly, we are running quite late.

Mädchen (Madchen), Friday, 28 October 2005 19:32 (nineteen years ago)

I feel quite rough today, for some reason.

Mädchen (Madchen), Saturday, 29 October 2005 12:13 (nineteen years ago)

Grimly, events overtook me at work and I never got a chance to call him. I'll be doing so on Monday.

Madchen, good, serves you right for texting people at ungodly hours when they are asleep and waking them up by making their phone going beep :)

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 29 October 2005 12:26 (nineteen years ago)

You mean people don't switch off their phones? Sorry :)

Mädchen (Madchen), Saturday, 29 October 2005 12:36 (nineteen years ago)

No, I like to have my phone on in case anyone wants to contact me urgently. Like to tell me they are dancing to Bon Jovi :) It's my own fault for being so un-RAWK and being in my bed at midnight.

I might be trying Glasgow more later on today. I tried it last Saturday too, but I had a sore leg and couldn't be bothered walking very far (we got as far as the door of GoMA before I started crying and wanting to go home). We went to Underworld and ate fajitas instead and drank wine until my leg didn't hurt anymore (thus proving it wasn't gout).

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 29 October 2005 12:42 (nineteen years ago)

Also Madchen, I posted a link to a recipe for pumpkin ice cream (!) to your ILCooking thread. Greatest idea ever! Tomorrow will be spent doing pumpkinny type things chez W as well.

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 29 October 2005 12:46 (nineteen years ago)

o dere godd. the new Cathouse, btw, is the same as the old one except: the floor's not as sticky, the bouncers shout at you when you jump around, they play mash-ups of Killing in the Name and Mr Boombastic (genius) and they don't give you back yr jacket at the end of the night.

They still give you horrid hangovers tho.

stet (stet), Saturday, 29 October 2005 13:20 (nineteen years ago)

I don't think the band playing looks very good

i think they look pretty good. whether they sound any good is another matter entirely.

stirmonster (stirmonster), Saturday, 29 October 2005 16:36 (nineteen years ago)

the bouncers shout at you when you jump around

yes! i'd forgotten about that. it was like the fun police, patrolling the dancefloor and making sure everyone was just doing a gentle polka.

that said, it's the only place i've ever been where the bouncers are more reasonable than the cloakroom staff. what a bunch of hopeless mooks.

rocking night, though.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Saturday, 29 October 2005 16:57 (nineteen years ago)

(even though i did have to throw myself out of a cab to escape being dragged to the west end by mrs fiendish instead of going HOME to be angry about my coat)

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Saturday, 29 October 2005 16:58 (nineteen years ago)

last weekend was my pumpkin weekend. three pies and one risotto later, i'm all pumpkined out. now i've moved on to apples. mmmmm
cathouse.
my god.

dahlin (dahlin), Saturday, 29 October 2005 17:29 (nineteen years ago)

I can hardly talk. Goody by Chatty McChat :( Pumpkin ice-cream is an aces idea! Cheers Ailsa. I shall have a bash at that one, I think.

Mädchen (Madchen), Saturday, 29 October 2005 18:11 (nineteen years ago)

can't hang around all day folx

c7n (Cozen), Saturday, 29 October 2005 18:29 (nineteen years ago)

Child.

Ally C (Ally C), Sunday, 30 October 2005 03:45 (nineteen years ago)

heard about me

c7n (Cozen), Sunday, 30 October 2005 05:51 (nineteen years ago)

Is anyone else going to see Architecture in Helsinki on the first?

Mädchen (Madchen), Sunday, 30 October 2005 13:20 (nineteen years ago)

Oh, I didn't know about that, but I would really like to. *quickly googles* Do you think you would just be able to buy tickets on the door, or would I have to go up and buy them on my lunch hour?

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 30 October 2005 13:31 (nineteen years ago)

I am going. There will probably still be tix.

Ally C (Ally C), Sunday, 30 October 2005 17:29 (nineteen years ago)

Shall we go drinking first? Ally, someone will have to text you and let you know how badly Rangers are doing against ArtBrats.

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 30 October 2005 17:48 (nineteen years ago)

I don't think I will go to this restaurant, by the way

RJG (RJG), Sunday, 30 October 2005 18:03 (nineteen years ago)

:(

Mädchen (Madchen), Sunday, 30 October 2005 19:52 (nineteen years ago)

Voice update: almost completely gone! Strepsils making zero difference.

Mädchen (Madchen), Monday, 31 October 2005 13:50 (nineteen years ago)

Poor Madchen! Get well soon.

Cathy (Cathy), Monday, 31 October 2005 17:12 (nineteen years ago)

Alcohol might make a difference, as might food, i.e. would you like to go do something after work tomorrow so I don't have to go all the way home then all the way back into Glasgow again to go and see Architecture in Helsinki.

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 31 October 2005 18:10 (nineteen years ago)

We just made a pumpkin lantern and put it in the window and we've had our first trick or treaters for a few years.

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 31 October 2005 18:16 (nineteen years ago)

Ailsa - not sure. Booze in a smoky atmosphere is what disappeared my voice in the first place. I'll text you tomorrow and let you know how I'm feeling. Still want to go to the gig, though, because I don't know when I'll get to see AIH again. Poor Madchen :(

Mädchen (Madchen), Monday, 31 October 2005 20:29 (nineteen years ago)

We could go booze (or not booze, eat, whatever) somewhere non-smoky if you want - I did that on Saturday night and it was suprisingly OK. Drum and Monkey would be OK, and has food.

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 31 October 2005 20:43 (nineteen years ago)

I hope that you feel a whole lot better soon, Armes Mädchen.

Mooro (Mooro), Monday, 31 October 2005 21:21 (nineteen years ago)

OK, but I need to get changed out of my work clothes first. If you don't fancy hanging around town, I could pick you up on the way and you can come and laugh at my lack of bathroom.

Thank you Mooro. I feel OK in myself, really. I just sound horrific.

Mädchen (Madchen), Monday, 31 October 2005 21:22 (nineteen years ago)

Plus the usual snot etc.

Mädchen (Madchen), Monday, 31 October 2005 21:22 (nineteen years ago)

o god, we broke mädchen :(

i hope you're placing all the blame where it belongs: ie squarely on stet's shoulders.

seriously: hope you start to feel better v soon indeed.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Monday, 31 October 2005 23:09 (nineteen years ago)

pöor poör mädchen, aww, there there.

Stet will be blaming mädchen if he catches it.

stet (stet), Monday, 31 October 2005 23:17 (nineteen years ago)

i hope you're placing all the blame where it belongs: ie squarely on stet's shoulders

Would you like to borrow a step ladder?

Grimly, I got to speak to Charlie-boy's secretary today. She wasn't much use, but thanks anyway.

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 31 October 2005 23:25 (nineteen years ago)

Also, thanks for offer Madchen, but I've decided to take the car and go home and get changed after work then come back into town. I'll phone/text you later.

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 1 November 2005 07:48 (nineteen years ago)

Would some nice Glasgow person Try & record this for Moore, please?

"The Music Show programme B&S filmed for the other week starts this Friday November 4th on BBC Two Scotland. It airs between 11.35pm and 12.05am and one of the new B&S tracks will be on it, so tune in!"

Video would be nice, DVD even nicer :)

Thanks!

Mooro (Mooro), Tuesday, 1 November 2005 18:14 (nineteen years ago)

If Glasgow can be bothered, Dead City Radio will be appearing in Nice and Sleazy around 9pm ce soir.

scotstvo (scotstvo), Wednesday, 2 November 2005 17:17 (nineteen years ago)

You should have appeared at around 11 pm last night. We'd have seen you then :)

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 2 November 2005 18:04 (nineteen years ago)

Why, what happened?

scotstvo (scotstvo), Thursday, 3 November 2005 08:30 (nineteen years ago)

We were in Nice'n'Sleazy on Tueday. Well, me, Madchen and Ally C were at any rate. And we would have seen you. Whereas I didn't see you last night because I wasn't there. Having spent all my money being out the night before. Do you see?

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 3 November 2005 18:13 (nineteen years ago)

Alles klar!

scotstvo (scotstvo), Thursday, 3 November 2005 18:59 (nineteen years ago)

Also, I'm not going to the Scotland game because I'm spending all my money on Belle and Sebastian tickets instead. And they don't show Belle and Sebastian live on the telly, so they win.

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 3 November 2005 19:02 (nineteen years ago)

£18.50 + booking fee? They can piss off. Sell outs!

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 3 November 2005 19:03 (nineteen years ago)

AND you need the secret password. Pfft. I bought tickets for the third night, anyway.

Mädchen (Madchen), Thursday, 3 November 2005 19:07 (nineteen years ago)

Me too (the third night tickets - I had briefly entertained the idea of going to all three before I saw the ticket prices and my bank balance). I was also debating shunning the three-gig-Glasgow-extravaganza altogether in favour of a trip to sunny Hammersmith, but decided that would be foolish. Though I may yet change my mind before the night is out.

I think the first time I saw B&S it was about £5 a ticket. How times have changed.

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 3 November 2005 19:29 (nineteen years ago)

The first time I saw B&S they paid ME to see them.
