If you take what's offered, you can always drop it later if you don't care for the results. Sounds like sticking to your current job will be a retrograde move in any event.

Hoos, will you get a pay raise?

smoochy-woochy touchy-wouchy, (sunny successor), Thursday, 23 October 2014 22:54 (ten years ago)

(after making a copy for myself)

this is imo the absolute pinnacle of having regular access to a printer/copier in which people forget their documents

mattresslessness, Friday, 24 October 2014 23:20 (ten years ago)

smoochy-woochy touchy-wouchy, (sunny successor), Saturday, 25 October 2014 11:30 (ten years ago)

Oh by the way I got fired yesterday. No explantation, no paper work. After he told me i was bring teimated, rather than allow me to ask why, simply said 'I will not discuss this matter any further.'p
After that he stood by desk and whined that it

smoochy-woochy touchy-wouchy, (sunny successor), Saturday, 25 October 2014 11:41 (ten years ago)

Past he's going home time (5 on the dot!). Never mind I was an hour late pickings kids up.

smoochy-woochy touchy-wouchy, (sunny successor), Saturday, 25 October 2014 11:44 (ten years ago)

Oh my God, sunny. I'm so sorry.

Probably too early to even think about it, but I guess you can go after them for many things over all this. No idea whether that would be worth it or not.

ljubljana, Saturday, 25 October 2014 11:59 (ten years ago)

ffs. sorry sunny. so much bullshit its extraordinary.

local eire man (darraghmac), Saturday, 25 October 2014 12:03 (ten years ago)

Oh sunny. What nonsense. It's pretty clear they had this planned from way back. What a bunch of rotten people and terrible, shitty managers. God. I'm so sorry!

carl agatha, Saturday, 25 October 2014 12:16 (ten years ago)

I'm so sorry to hear this Sunny.

raccoon shipoopi (how's life), Saturday, 25 October 2014 12:19 (ten years ago)

Pp researched this fool and as it turns out I he was a priest and the vice chancellor under the arch diocese in Philadelphia.

There was a grand jury hearing into, guess what??, that's right, father peeds.

I haven't fully read the 500pg grand jury document but one part I did read was testiony about a peed priest who had been raping this boy for three years or so. When the kid turned 12 this priest told the boy he had spoken to his parents and that they thought the rape should definitely continue citing religious reasons. Of course he'd had no contact with the parents at all.

At some point the priest had confessed to the arch diocese what he had been doing. He had to confess 3 times before any action was taken and even then my delightful ex-boss in his role as vice chancellor ignored the victim and parents and instead let the keep his position despite the priest being quite adamant that he he was a peed and would, without question, recommit again.
Obvious this info in unbelievably sickening and shows what an incredibly poor judge of character I am. How someone with a record of lying to a grand jury to protect a pedophile, ie zero ethics, is working a position as director of Human Resources where I assume ethics is a core standard of the position, is just mind blowing to me.
He's complete disinterest in hearing the truth suddenly makes a world of sense.

smoochy-woochy touchy-wouchy, (sunny successor), Saturday, 25 October 2014 12:43 (ten years ago)

This sounds like a totally messed up company that you're better off being far away from.

DMac, Australian idol in London? How does that work?

smoochy-woochy touchy-wouchy, (sunny successor), Saturday, 25 October 2014 13:09 (ten years ago)

idk tbph

the same person im referencing has had two appearances on the irish version of the various shows and at least one iirc on british version

all of these are lost to youtube so im guessing they had them taken down

but anyway eh if i'd to guess i suppose it was easier, when filming australian idol, to do it in the emigration lounge of a major london airport so that you could get all of the irish in one place before they fly over and tek er jebs

local eire man (darraghmac), Saturday, 25 October 2014 13:23 (ten years ago)

God, so sorry to hear this, sunny. Sounds awful. Hope things get better soon.

emil.y, Saturday, 25 October 2014 13:28 (ten years ago)

sorry for this, sunnysucc.

this horrible, rotten slog to rigor mortis (Dr Morbius), Saturday, 25 October 2014 13:33 (ten years ago)

You can fire someone with no paperwork and no explanation?? How is that even legal? Or is that because you're in an at-will state (or because I've only worked for legit huge media companies who protect themselves with 100 layers of administration)?

UGH what a collective noun of profanities.

Orson Wellies (in orbit), Saturday, 25 October 2014 13:50 (ten years ago)

It's really fishy. Yeah, it's an at-work state and the ball is completely in the employer's hand... But, there's always paperwork.

pplains, Saturday, 25 October 2014 14:14 (ten years ago)

That write up for lateness was totally a feeble attempt to create a paper trail to justify the termination. I'm pretty sure they're going to fight you on unemployment benefits, too, sunny.

carl agatha, Saturday, 25 October 2014 14:21 (ten years ago)

I mean it's blatantly obvious that they wanted to vacate or eliminate the position so these ding dongs decided to engage in some petty Game of Thrones shit to try to avoid paying unemployment.

I don't know if any of this is illegal though. Shitty on a human and a business decision level but that may be it.

(Not legal advice. Consult a local lawyer. Don't listen to me. I'm an idiot.)

carl agatha, Saturday, 25 October 2014 14:26 (ten years ago)

My bosses, employment attorneys, say that at the end of the day ALL states are at-will. Some have implied contract laws and other partial protections, but they're weakly enforced and seriously limited by courts' interpretations. Basically in the U.S., unless you have a contract, you can be fired for no reason at all. Paperwork helps the company protect itself from charges of actual illegal firing (e.g., discriminating against people w/ ADA-covered emotional disorders) but it's not required. (Half-baked paralegal conclusions and second-hand lawyer opinions. Don't listen to me. I'm an idiot.)

Anyway I'm sorry, sunny. That's shit. I hope you quickly get a better situation so you can enjoy being free of those people.

Je55e, Saturday, 25 October 2014 17:10 (ten years ago)

hope you stole some office supplies on the way out

j., Saturday, 25 October 2014 17:13 (ten years ago)

Maybe you do want to consult an attorney? Especially if they fight your unemployment benefits. nela.org is a good place to start. (I'll butt out now.)

Je55e, Saturday, 25 October 2014 17:16 (ten years ago)

"do you have emotional problems" reminds me of a lawsuit I helped with where a boss said to an absent-minded employee (who had majorly fucked up), "What do you have Alzheimers?" She did not, but she quit, saying she was forced out, and she sued for disability discrimination.

Je55e, Saturday, 25 October 2014 17:20 (ten years ago)

hey hoos do you know of this company cat a list but with no spaces?

seems to me that most cats belong on the A list

Scapa Flow & Eddie (Aimless), Saturday, 25 October 2014 17:55 (ten years ago)

fucking hell sunny :(

difficult-difficult lemon-difficult (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 25 October 2014 18:11 (ten years ago)

Hope there's no way they can prejudice other firms from hiring you. This does sound shit.
i.e. Hope this can only extend to what sounds like a majorly unfair dismissal without leaving other stains on your work record. Or is that dismissal enough of a stain in itself?

Stevolende, Saturday, 25 October 2014 18:20 (ten years ago)

that is such utter horseshit – i'm furious on your behalf, SS.

AKA Thermo Thinwall (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Saturday, 25 October 2014 18:43 (ten years ago)

Wow, no explanation. I'm sorry to hear that. That is really unprofessional. I take it they didn't make you sign a gag order like I had to when I got fired?

That sucks. You're not alone. At least it was a stupid firing so you don't have to feel bad.

Threat Assessment Division (I M Losted), Saturday, 25 October 2014 19:01 (ten years ago)

THIS MAKES ME SO MAAAAAD!!! I wonder if you can passive-aggressively e-mail that peed shit to some co-workers and make a thing blow up?

Also yeah they prob are going to fight unemployment but there is like NO WAY they can win, right IANALs?

Belami Young (Stevie D(eux)), Saturday, 25 October 2014 22:05 (ten years ago)

Each state runs it's own unemployment show. They wouldn't win in Illinois but I really can't say about Arkansas.

carl agatha, Saturday, 25 October 2014 22:22 (ten years ago)

jesus christ, these morons

, Tuesday, 28 October 2014 22:28 (ten years ago)

OMG, just heard from a former co-worker that my old office mates are not allowed to use iTunes anymore. It seems someone had a bunch of irreverent stuff like punk, heavy metal, Marilyn Manson, and the South Park soundtrack. They have a new Director, I guess she is very conservative and feels personally mocked and offended by the irreverence. Never mind that the animation department uses stuff like metal music or South Park.

Threat Assessment Division (I M Losted), Wednesday, 29 October 2014 15:48 (ten years ago)

two weeks pass...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8xz8xKEFvU

Boss: Ugh. Don't these idiots in Russia and Boobekistan need to be working their fucking jobs instead of playing games like this? Maybe their countries wouldn't be such a mess if they spent more time working.
(Same kind of thing she says about telemarketers and spammers.)
