haha, yes I am the Brian Cashman of hoarding pitchers. Jake Peavy, please bring these nachos down to those folks in Section 204 and don't forget to wear your ChicksDigKs uniform cap. Thanks.

As I said before, I would field a team of all pitchers if I could. I like NL rules! I love the double switch! The best is when they put the situational lefty in the outfield so they can bring him back and then someone hits the ball out there at him, ha ha! Or when they run out of players and they bring in Greg Maddux to pinch hit. Pitcher humor! Ha! Ha!

good thing the trophy wives benched jensen... he's getting his bottom flogged.

dusty baker loves to ph batters, f. hope you get some of that.

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 18:53 (twenty-one years ago) link

I can't believe Damien "Scab" Miller's HR is carrying the Cubs today.

Yanc3y, your Keith Foulke looked good yesterday. What do you call that pitch he has? A throw-ball?

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 18:56 (twenty-one years ago) link

CURRENT k COUNT

Herve 10

lawrence kansas (lawrence kansas), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 19:01 (twenty-one years ago) link

My Foulke AND my Zito (da other league) looked good yesterday. Which pitch are you referring to? His makeshift palmball?

Dennis Tankersley tankin' it NONSHOCKAH

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 19:05 (twenty-one years ago) link

yeah, he has this weird pitch where he hides the ball and then just like straight-arms it. Sterling Hitchcock and the pitcher on the baseball Coke vending machine at the Chelsea Piers batting cage hide the ball that same way. That way of hiding the ball turns me on.

It was good when Zito explained his three-fingered curve ball on BT last night.

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 19:06 (twenty-one years ago) link

tankersley can't even get it within a foot of the plate.

my #1 draft pick with a hit, RBI and an R in the first... where art thou chortlers?

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 19:08 (twenty-one years ago) link

Did he explain it with an "Aw shucks" grin and a sly twinkle in his eye?

TANK HAS NOW WALKED IN TWO STRAIGHT RUNS!!!

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 19:08 (twenty-one years ago) link

I'll chortle all fucking day, gygax!

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 19:09 (twenty-one years ago) link

Did he explain it with an "Aw shucks" grin and a sly twinkle in his eye?

Yes! It was like Barry was looking right at me. I think he was.

Sorry to miss you at the big Death From Above fest. Anyway, even I am worried about Markkkkkkkkkkk's pitch count. Dusty, don't break his wing! This what Juan Cruz is for!

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 19:12 (twenty-one years ago) link

felicity, when are we going to the batting cages?

The catcher I picked up the other day is 3 for 4 today.

hstencil, Wednesday, 9 April 2003 19:15 (twenty-one years ago) link

Sometime, maybe not on a weekend. That was a nightmare. Alternately, we could round up some folks to go to the $$$$ one on the Upper West side.

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 19:16 (twenty-one years ago) link

ok I GET IT ALREADY, Javier Vazquez, you are good at STRIKING PEOPLE OUT. Sheesh, talk about "not subtle."

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 19:18 (twenty-one years ago) link

correction: 3 for 5 with a homer and a double.

Anytime's good for me, felicity.

hstencil, Wednesday, 9 April 2003 19:19 (twenty-one years ago) link

looks like herve won't get the win, but i'll make out if Remlinger or Guthrie get the save.

lawrence kansas (lawrence kansas), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 19:20 (twenty-one years ago) link

Cruz: good
Guthrie: bad
Remlinger: gray

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 19:21 (twenty-one years ago) link

Did Macdougal get the save for the KC game? I'm seeing conflicting box scores. OH NO!

Remlinger = GREAT

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 19:22 (twenty-one years ago) link

Prior's batting! Chin music!!!

lawrence kansas (lawrence kansas), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 19:22 (twenty-one years ago) link

maybe not

lawrence kansas (lawrence kansas), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 19:23 (twenty-one years ago) link

by the way, can i say that i love that we're treating the baseball season like it's a sprint? if we're still doing this in july then i will lick each & every one of you! (aaron w. first tho)

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 19:27 (twenty-one years ago) link

Yeah! Every at-bat memorialized in loving detail. Step to that, Hollywood & Qoolout!

MARK!PRIOR!RBI!SINGLE!DID!FELICITY!JUST!XXXPLODE!?!?!?

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 19:33 (twenty-one years ago) link

ARRRGHH Prior is going to hurt hisself baserunning, I just know it. What's crazy is that my no-account cheesehead Damien Miller is doing all this scoring. And now Byung-Hyung Kim has started pitching. He was supposed to be my closer! crazy baseball.

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 19:36 (twenty-one years ago) link

oh thank goodness, Grudz erased Prior with a GIDP. whew.

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 19:36 (twenty-one years ago) link

Oh no! Yanc3y is gonna lick me! Oh no!

I just noticed that none of the Detroit Tigers starting lineup is batting over .222. OUCH! I think I gotta go to some games this year. I can't wait till poor Alan Trammell sez, "Can't anyone here play this game?"

Aaron W (Aaron W), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 19:50 (twenty-one years ago) link

Who was the last good-hitting strikout artist ever? What a dream guy. *sigh*

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 19:53 (twenty-one years ago) link

Who was the last good-hitting strikout artist ever?

What are your feelings on Kerry Wood?

hstencil, Wednesday, 9 April 2003 19:54 (twenty-one years ago) link

And don't forget Mike Hampton (Houston Astros version).

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 19:55 (twenty-one years ago) link

He's not historically that good hitting but he does help himself out every so often. I have seen the 20 strikeout game on ESPN Classic like 3 times. I like it. He was like 21 years old.

Hampton is ok, but is he really a strikeout artist? I'm talking like Pedro, Seaver, Randy Johnson amount of Ks.

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 19:56 (twenty-one years ago) link

I've seen Kerry hit a homerun.

hstencil, Wednesday, 9 April 2003 19:57 (twenty-one years ago) link

answer for f:

fernando valenzuela

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 19:59 (twenty-one years ago) link

Yeah! Fernando really could hit!

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 20:01 (twenty-one years ago) link

14 Ks for Vasquez! Holy crap! AND HE LOST! Monkey. (Don't mind me if I talk about my other league here.)

I'd just like to apologize for my seemingly condescending post on the BB re: the still-pending LoDuca / Biddle swapski. I might not get it, but it wasn't nice of me to go & post a dorky question about the trade not making sense. My momma taught me better than that. I'm a survivor.

WTF is up w/ a non-Rockies NL game entering the bottom of the 3rd w/ a 9-8 score? (Note to self: remove Rondell White from HACKING MASS.)

And lemme just raise more topics / points in random order whilst I avoid doing homework. Yes, lemme.

I think when El Sid got behind a pitch and drove it, it went faaaaaaaar. (Answer to F's question: Babe Ruth?)

DID YOU KNOW that Ted Williams pitched an inning in 1940-something? It's a fact!

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 20:04 (twenty-one years ago) link

Actually, I think to qualify as a strikeout "artist" the pitcher should have a lifetime K/IP > 1. So maybe not Fernando. Nolan, Randy, they really can't hit for shiznit.

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 20:05 (twenty-one years ago) link

I like Warren Spahn. And Johhy Sain, he seemed nice.

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 20:07 (twenty-one years ago) link

DID DAVE R. KNOW that Ted Williams' autograph is hanging up on my bedroom wall?

hstencil, Wednesday, 9 April 2003 20:07 (twenty-one years ago) link

haha "DID YOU KNOW?"

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 20:07 (twenty-one years ago) link

Dave R, Ron-"DL" White is not Hacking Mass material! That's crazy talk.

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 20:09 (twenty-one years ago) link

I know, I know - I had a brainfart. My friend (who's a Yankee fan, but w/ all the self-loathing and hair-triggering he goes through each season, really should be a BoSox fan) (and he picks the BoSox to win every year, the jerk) totally influence my thinking after seeing DL struggle last year in pinstripes. Ah, for the days when he hobbled around Olympic Stadium in a non-bow-legged fashion.

Hey! Let's post our HM rosters so we can steal each other's picks!

PS to Stencil - DID YOU KNOW that I once owned a pair of cheap-ass promo give-away short shorts signed by Yankee great Claudell Washington?

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 20:23 (twenty-one years ago) link

I did not know that.

Ginkgo Balboa's HACKING "KEVIN" MASS team:

Second Base - Marlon Anderson
Third Base - Craig Counsell
Shortstop - Jack Wilson
Left Field - Roger Cedeno
Center Field - Doug Glanville
Right Field - Mike Tucker
Pitchers - Chan Ho Park, Julian Tavarez

Woo boy that's some ripe cheese.

No, I think that stench in here is the Zambonies' defense.
