oh man, that's one i really can't do. i can't remember if we even finished it or not, the plot just kinda... continues. and yeah, that one dude is reeeeeeal hard to take. no fault on the riffing, just one of those where the movie itself is so irritating that you kinda can't deal.

Two of my favorite-ever MST3K moments in this: "Watch out for snakes!" obviously, and Joel putting his hands over the bots' mouths when Roxie asks, "Do you know where Deep Canyon is?"

You know, this episode has one of my all time obscure lines. After Eegah smacks Arch Hall Jr and they all cheer, first Tom does a whiny voiced complaint supposedly from Arch, then Joel adds "Come on, you stupid zinge." Zinge? Am I hearing that right?

"Whatsa matter Mister Miller?"
"Sit down, Pieface. It's a long list."

Oh, perfect. What an amazing episode. (It's Thanksgiving lunch here it turns out so I've had to miss this and Gorgo.)

I have to stop now for dinner. Hoping for a few more Sci-Fi eps for you all.

Yes, _Danger! Death Ray!_ is next. Finished the meal and cleaning here so I'm just going to happily enjoy this and whatever the final one is.

I quoted this from memory w/out seeing that scene today... but do you know it is a parody of contestants identifying themselves on the quiz show "To Tell the Truth"? (apparently it's being revived next year, but the classic period was 1956-78)

Okay given the final new skit there -- I would trust MST to make fun of cutesy ukulele filksongs, not to fucking rely on one.

During the final kickstarter spot that closed out the marathon, Joel mentioned anyone from the original show run has been welcomed back to either contribute or make cameos. Presumably Mike got the invitation and begged off?

I have a feeling that's a bit of cover.

I haven't invested a whole lot of time or energy investigating, but do Joel and Mike have a beef?

Mike launched Rifftrax and has been doing it for nearly a decade, so pretty understandable he would continue to devote his energy there.

But, I mean, just a cameo.

Racket Girls is a sloggggg imho, one of those where the sheer dull repetitiousness of the movie ultimately defies riffing. All the wrestling scenes are basically rock climbing, and there's nothing else about the movie to keep it going.

Gorgo is all right. We howled at the Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald riffs early on, can't remember a lot of other stuff about it. Teenagers From Outer Space is pretty classic iirc.

I remember thinking the Coleman Francis movies were too painfully dull to get through, but eventually warmed to them and they're all three among my favorites. The Gamera movies, otoh.

Racket Girls is a seriously great episode. A double bill of that and The Sinister Urge is some weird high camp all around.

Even in MST3K, diva worship reigns supreme.

The intense dullness, or blankness perhaps, of the Coleman Francis movies is daunting, yes... I dunno, there's something so idiosyncratic and strange about them that they remain compelling. "Quirky" isn't the right word, but they're distinct. Amazingly, each one kind of finds its own way toward spectacular awfulness while still sharing a fundamental Francis-ism. The long rambling episodic narrative of Red Zone Cuba, the non-narrative of Sky-Divers, the essentially dialogue-free Beast of Yucca Flats... it's a hell of a body of work, one of MST's great discoveries.

As individual a voice as Ed Wood's, no question.
