He once wrote something in the Observer Music Monthly about how Carl Barat was his hero and had "saved England from the chavs and made it Blake's Albion" again - which I thought I'd never forgive...

However he is very, very good at hosting BB'sBM. Given how many times it's on a week I am impressed that he can keep coming up with new iterations of not just the ballbags/SWINE link, but also "So-and-so is perfectly happy to do such-and-such, but when I suggested it would be quite good to see Aisleyne and Grace wrestling in crude oil in the middle of a desert, they looked at me like I was no better than Gary Glitter...", and the one that goes "Get in touch with us the way the Daily Mail gets in touch with asylum seekers, except use a phone instead of creating a hysterical climate of fear and distrust"...

the ballbag thing is v unfunny and his schtick is v thin and samey and his "set pieces" for the phone message thing etc are also quite unfunny but he does say some funny things, sometimes, usually in conversation or when people are shouting

what i like most about him is that although he's very quick, especially in the audience opinion sections of the show, he's never snide towards the audience members. also he always tries to deflate any particularly vitriolic opinion in a surprisingly claming way. "oh you shouldn't think that, i like grace, she's nice".

I don't think I'd ever noticed him between this summer and yet suddenly he appears to be EVERYWHERE. It's like he's dominating the summer, which is quite an achievement in World Cup year.

I liked when the Arctic Monkeys tried to slag him off for doing Grim Oop North gags at the NME awards. Whooshes all round.

It's funny the way he puts his arm around people on BBBM, and sits on their knee! Sometimes he is staring right in their face and doing this, it's really weird and amusing.

telly people like him because he is totally professional. If you shout in his earpiece that he needs to make shit up for the next two minutes, he'll do it. It seems like a strange skill in the real world, but is highly prized in tellyland.

yeah it's kind of unnerving when you see him visibly turn off the zany tap when he cuts to break and the camera lingers on the set for a second longer

there was a regular audience member in 'bbbm'. he seemed to have his shirt unbuttoned to the navel, and had a kind of wideboy shtick -- think he tried to sell RB some leather trousers?

anyway, on charlie brooker's screenwipe t'other week there was a mock talent show audition -- and there he was! desperate.

kind of gives you an insight into... something.

I saw him in real life last week going into some awards do (the one where Rod Stewart told him off) and he was the only person to pay more attention to the fans or onlookers than the photographers. So I think he is OK, and I wish him well.

I didn't watch his programme though. Is it repeated?

Rod Stewart was nice to the civillians too, but he kept his distance a bit more than RB.
