A nice Glasgow story:

Life Without Buildings: Classic or Dud?

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 12 January 2006 14:02 (nineteen years ago)

Hello.

Belated Happy New Year to everyone. Stew and I bumped into each other yesterday as we now work in the same place. We discussed fappery. I'm working late next week so will have to skip the B&S related action but if any other plans are being made then let me know as it would be lovely to see you all.

hmmm (hmmm), Friday, 13 January 2006 18:17 (nineteen years ago)

B&S are doing an in-store thing at 5 o'clock in Virgin round the corner from my work on Tuesday. There seems little point in me going home then coming back in for the gig, so some Sauchiehall Street/Bath Street fappage action would be good. I mean, I'll go to the pub on my own, but surely other people are going? Or want to go to the pub?

Proper fappage should maybe wait until the end of the month - I can't be the only one with too much January at the end of my pay packet.

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 13 January 2006 18:23 (nineteen years ago)

I've got January in my overdraft, credit cards, and I've tapped about a fortnight from my mates. I'm robbing February now. But I'll be out for B&S. (Madchen paid, hura)

stet (stet), Friday, 13 January 2006 18:25 (nineteen years ago)

Good. Pick a pub :)

(I am tapping from Neil and he doesn't even have a job, but that's because I've paid everything so far this month because I do have a job, but hugely underestimated the sheer volume of alcohol and resultant taxi fares that would be incurred over Christmas and also forgot that I got paid a fortnight early in December so lots of spending + extra two weeks to make money last = pov-stricken ailsa)

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 13 January 2006 18:31 (nineteen years ago)

Is there a Winchester Club tonight? I lose track of these things.

Mädchen (Madchen), Saturday, 14 January 2006 19:30 (nineteen years ago)

It was last week. No one went. Blame was apportioned.

Mädchen (Madchen), Saturday, 14 January 2006 21:00 (nineteen years ago)

Oi, Mädchen, what are you and stet doing on Tuesday, post-work, pre-B&S? Food/drink?

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 14 January 2006 21:07 (nineteen years ago)

Coming home to get out of my manky work clothes, most likely. I should be out again around 6.30pm though, if you fancy getting some pre-theatre. Stet?

Mädchen (Madchen), Saturday, 14 January 2006 21:18 (nineteen years ago)

yay! I shall be going to in-store thing at Virgin, but pre-theatre food thereafter sounds good, and cheap. Huzzah!

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 14 January 2006 21:19 (nineteen years ago)

accidentally requiemed a chinese takeaway

cozen (Cozen), Monday, 16 January 2006 09:48 (nineteen years ago)

Protesters are expected to target ex-US secretary of state Colin Powell when he visits Glasgow to speak at a dinner.
He will address an event organised by the Jewish National Fund (JNF) at the Hilton Hotel on Monday evening.

The organisation said it was delighted to have secured Mr Powell's attendance at the fund-raising dinner.

However, pro-Palestinian activists plan to stage a protest while human rights campaigners want to raise the issue of CIA rendition flights with Mr Powell.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller 68), Monday, 16 January 2006 09:54 (nineteen years ago)

Mooro will try that Glasgow again this coming weekend. Garage Saturday night.

Sororah T Massacre (blueski), Monday, 16 January 2006 10:32 (nineteen years ago)

is cafe hula nice?

cozen (Cozen), Monday, 16 January 2006 10:57 (nineteen years ago)

So, is Winchester Club still any good? I´ve been mildly harassed onto attending 11th February, but as it has already been pointed out, geocities site is not that useful to check schedules or anything :-(

olenska (olenska), Monday, 16 January 2006 11:31 (nineteen years ago)

Cafe Hula is nice, yes, though the staff are a bit off-hand sometimes and they have a stupid menu board system.

The Winchester Club? It depends. Let's say yes.

Alba (Alba), Monday, 16 January 2006 11:33 (nineteen years ago)

Onimo (GerryNemo), Monday, 16 January 2006 16:43 (nineteen years ago)

Oi, Glasgow, tomorrow night. Belle and Sebastian. Virgin, ABC. Somewhere between those lies a pub. I will be in it. Will anyone be joining me?

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 16 January 2006 17:54 (nineteen years ago)

The Variety is a handy sort of bar.

Mädchen (Madchen), Monday, 16 January 2006 20:04 (nineteen years ago)

Mädchen (Madchen), Monday, 16 January 2006 20:05 (nineteen years ago)

The five gentlemen or the pub? I still have no idea what I am doing - Neil is threatening to take me out for food now since I have no firm plans. Shall I text you tomorrow?

Impromptu ILXor meeting last night: Cozen
Not-very-impromptu ILXor meeting: Madchen and Stet
Fairly impromptu, but not entirely unexpected, ILXor meeting: Keith W
Celeb count at B&S gig: Gerry Love, Stephen Pastel (Madchen took a sneaky photo), that bird what used to do that late night debate thing we talked about upthread that Stew was on once - oh, yeah, Trial By Night.

We think Murdoch's had singing lessons.

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 14:29 (nineteen years ago)

Oh, yeah, other celeb at B&S = Sandy Nelson who plays the postie in Still Game and was in the Century of Fakers video. Glasgow's good for liggers, isn't it?
