lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 15:56 (nineteen years ago)

and they do housework! i love them.

lauren (laurenp), Thursday, 9 March 2006 14:19 (nineteen years ago)

Can I have some, please? My house is a tip. I could do with some Glaswegian minions houseguests in that case.

aren't these glaswegians from fife or something?

I don't know ANY glaswegians (or anyone that purports to be) that does housework!

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 9 March 2006 14:32 (nineteen years ago)

I was hoping more for...

Fish is Biodegradable! (That Means It Rots) (kate), Thursday, 9 March 2006 14:36 (nineteen years ago)

I changed something, there, during the brackets

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 9 March 2006 14:36 (nineteen years ago)

Anyway, I have a friend and ex-bandmate who is trying Glasgow right now, as we speak! Apparently she has gone to interview a band and have nummy organic beers and indie records at Mono. I am jealous.

Fish is Biodegradable! (That Means It Rots) (kate), Thursday, 9 March 2006 14:40 (nineteen years ago)

we'd like to help, kate, although we're allergic to windolene. can we just sit here and drink milky tea instead?

I was sad to notice that there was no Lauren in Glasgow. However I can confirm that the Fife Glaswegians were back and in fine form on Saturday night. And by 'in fine form' I mean, of course; completely off their collective face.

Saw the Concretes last night, for free, and had some cake. Glasgow is good to me.

Ally C (Ally C), Monday, 13 March 2006 12:03 (nineteen years ago)

Concretes were superb. After all the palaver of traipsing through the snow to get there and worrying about getting home (in the end we got a lift, so it was all good) they had to deliver the goods. And they did. Those Swedes know how to warm the soul.

My street (Gardner St) is in the Herald today. People were sledging down it yesterday and it was a slushy nightmare today.
If anyone lives near Clouston St go check out the awesome snowman someone built. It's like 4 massive snowballs piled on top of each other, with trees for arms (well, branches).

stew!, Monday, 13 March 2006 12:22 (nineteen years ago)

I'm imagining something on the scale of the Stay Puft Man from Ghostbusters, with entire tree trunks for arms. Must get to Clouston St.

Ally C (Ally C), Monday, 13 March 2006 13:57 (nineteen years ago)

You're not far off, Ally.

stew!, Monday, 13 March 2006 15:09 (nineteen years ago)

glasgow?

cozen (Cozen), Thursday, 16 March 2006 20:30 (nineteen years ago)

I know...

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 16 March 2006 20:33 (nineteen years ago)

I think my deferred Trying More is now confirmed for w/c 24th April (it'll probably become more definite when I'm on holiday) so I propose aldoFAP2006 for Thurs 27th.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Friday, 17 March 2006 09:29 (nineteen years ago)

I am already quadruple booked, for thurs the 27th

RJG (RJG), Friday, 17 March 2006 09:34 (nineteen years ago)

I would think "washing your hair" probably counts as quadruple booking, in your case, yes.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Friday, 17 March 2006 12:30 (nineteen years ago)

RJG (RJG), Friday, 17 March 2006 12:48 (nineteen years ago)

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Friday, 17 March 2006 14:04 (nineteen years ago)

Work. Unlikely.

Might be able to do another night that week.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Friday, 17 March 2006 14:24 (nineteen years ago)

Next Saturday I think I'm going to start drinking around 3pm. Wanna join me? I want to be ratfaced by midnight, when I will turn 31.
Message ends.

Mädchen (Madchen), Saturday, 25 March 2006 16:08 (nineteen years ago)

(You do not have to show up at 3pm - any time after that is fine. Location TBC)

Mädchen (Madchen), Saturday, 25 March 2006 16:12 (nineteen years ago)

(Message ends for real)

Mädchen (Madchen), Saturday, 25 March 2006 16:13 (nineteen years ago)

I was rather ratfaced, last night

I will try, again, next week, but it is exhausting!!!

RJG (RJG), Sunday, 26 March 2006 18:53 (nineteen years ago)

I was also rather ratfaced last night. I am suffering today for it, but I am treating it as "practice". I shall be up for the long-haul next week, I would have thought.

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 26 March 2006 18:57 (nineteen years ago)

aldoFAP needs to be on or after the 26th for financial purposes. Otherwise I shall be sitting in the corner drinking water like a poor person.

Problem with smoking ban = lack of opportunity to laugh at pished Grimly Fiendish for forgetting he's stopped smoking and buying a whole packet of cigarettes then giving them all away because he's remembered he's stopped smoking (see also aldo and onimo).

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 26 March 2006 19:09 (nineteen years ago)

No bother.

hmmm (hmmm), Tuesday, 28 March 2006 12:43 (nineteen years ago)

Right, I'm cream crackered after a week learning how to get millionnaires to give you their cash, so here is the new buffday plan:

6pm, Ichiban. Later, Mono.

I figured Ichiban is one of the few places a number of people can go to eat without needing to book a table and try to work out numbers in advance and all that malarkey. Anyone wanting to do the food bit will have to get there close to six o'clock so we can sit together, I guess.

Mädchen (Madchen), Saturday, 1 April 2006 09:11 (nineteen years ago)

We'll be there!

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 1 April 2006 09:53 (nineteen years ago)

Excellent!

Mädchen (Madchen), Saturday, 1 April 2006 10:25 (nineteen years ago)

(can you get a millionaire to give me some cash please?)

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 1 April 2006 10:34 (nineteen years ago)

Unfortunately, I'm not sure you have a convincing enough philanthropic case.

Mädchen (Madchen), Saturday, 1 April 2006 12:06 (nineteen years ago)

How do you know? Couldn't I formulate one?

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 1 April 2006 12:10 (nineteen years ago)

You could certainly try.

Mädchen (Madchen), Saturday, 1 April 2006 14:56 (nineteen years ago)

We are leaving the house soon. Will you be in a pub first, or will you be in Ichiban? I'm sure we shall find you, somehow. Is anyone else going?

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 1 April 2006 14:57 (nineteen years ago)

Happy birthday, Madchen!!

Lara (Lara), Saturday, 1 April 2006 23:26 (nineteen years ago)

Happy birthday, Madchen. Good photos, whoever took 'em.

Hey! I'm going to be in Glasgow again on Thursday the 13th of April for one night only. My big bro is getting married on the Saturday and half of Dublin is coming over for the wedding.

Last time I spent a night in Glasgow, I stayed in the Jurys Inn on Jamaica St because it was cheap. It was also horrible, however (I don't like coming down to my breakfast in the morning to find a load of people already milling pints. And I don't like a sign in my room that says 'we do not advise you to leave your handbag or any other valuables in your room'). Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I might stay that I won't fear getting stabbed. Note, I don't want to spend an absolute fortune either.

accentmonkey (accentmonkey), Monday, 3 April 2006 16:17 (nineteen years ago)

the jury's inn's inside can't be worse than its outside

RJG (RJG), Monday, 3 April 2006 16:33 (nineteen years ago)

Are you fapping, accentmonkey?

My parents usually stay at the Premier Travel Inn at Charing Cross. Currently at £51 for the night for a room - if it's just you, that's quite near, but I guess it's reasonable if accentbloke is coming too.

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 3 April 2006 16:40 (nineteen years ago)

I am already booked, for next week

RJG (RJG), Monday, 3 April 2006 16:43 (nineteen years ago)

near = dear, obviously. I have no idea if it's near or not.
