So used to seeing thoughtful meditations on sunsets and tacos that those memes appearing suddenly on my IG feed really threw me.

I'm kind of stalled out at the moment at 39 followers and my top tweet hit 40 likes. This game is hard.
― the last famous person you were surprised to discover was actually (man alive), Wednesday, 5 October 2016 19:42 (eight years ago)
39 still seems to be way below what you need for retweet reach, so I'm still at the point where only replies get retweeted or favd more than 2x.

40 likes with only 39 followers is actually very impressive

what does it matter doodz
salesforce's benioff wants twitter
http://www.wsj.com/articles/twitter-is-expected-to-field-bids-this-week-1475621345
highlights for the googling-impaired:
Mr. Benioff, whose recent approach to Twitter set off the bidding process, sees the social-media pioneer as an “unpolished jewel” with untapped potential in advertising, e-commerce and other data-rich applications he regards as important to the cloud-software juggernaut’s next phase of growth, the people said.[...]“Data is the currency in software’s new world order,” he said in an interview this past weekend, though he wasn’t specifically speaking about Twitter. “I’m looking hard at unique data-rich companies and what I can do to make them more powerful and innovative if combined with Salesforce.”[...]Twitter could complement Mr. Benioff’s goal of harnessing more data for artificial-intelligence-driven analysis, as well as allow Salesforce to offer additional services in sales, marketing and e-commerce for the company’s 150,000 customers.[...]Salesforce already incorporates Twitter in numerous cloud services for its corporate customers, from service complaints handled through tweets to analysis of tweets on products.[...]

basically twitter will turn into a customer support "line"
great news is salesforce is such garbage it will drown twitter with it once both of them disappear

all of these tweets about donating to the NC republicans to help them (!!) after someone firebombed their office are really something
― mh 😏, Monday, 17 October 2016 14:18 (eight years ago)
fuck giving money to NCGOP obvs but could be a smart move strategically to loudly take make a big show of taking higher ground on something like this in face of all the brutal shit Trump supporters are going to do (and he's going to applaud)
― flopson, Monday, 17 October 2016 16:18 (eight years ago)
it has zero strategic value
― the last famous person you were surprised to discover was actually (man alive), Monday, 17 October 2016 16:23 (eight years ago)
I mean, you know, if a Trump campaign worker was killed in the firebombing and people were donating to a gofundme to support his kids or something, maybe that's be "rising above differences." But this was a fucking insured building. What a bunch of rubes.
― the last famous person you were surprised to discover was actually (man alive), Monday, 17 October 2016 16:24 (eight years ago)
like you might think you are taking the higher ground, but what you are doing is donating money to the NC republican party. you are literally a donor to one of the more outspoken, anti-trans rights organizations in the country
― mh 😏, Monday, 17 October 2016 16:24 (eight years ago)
otm
And really I think the fact that any liberals think this off-the-mark "good faith" act of pointless kindness would do anything to "heal the divide" or whatever just shows how naive and unprepared they are for the fight they are facing.
― the last famous person you were surprised to discover was actually (man alive), Monday, 17 October 2016 16:26 (eight years ago)
I said it myself on twitter, but if there is an olive branch to be extended to people in that group, this is not it. Outreach works best on a person-to-person basis. Having dinner and polite discussion with some NC republicans and a handful of your transgender friends might help you come to an understanding. Facelessly giving money to people halfway across the country because someone who is in no way associated with you did them harm, that is probably going to be covered by insurance, is asinine.
Maybe people have some false guilt about it? idk, I guess if you felt a little happy they were firebombed and are giving them cash to feel better about it, then maybe you need to work on divorcing your feelings from actions you had no part of

yeah but their entire strategy is "we'll show them we go high and be sympathetic"
if it was to be a genuinely compassionate person, maybe wait to see what they actually need instead of throwing money in an online bucket immediately? if it's to reinforce your image, then maybe you should find a better group to support? if it's to convert voters, then maybe you're the vulture here?

can we get hoos on this
― flopson, Monday, 17 October 2016 17:49 (eight years ago)
yeah, I totally get it, the idea is you donate to show - you're not allied with people that destroy offices - you're a sympathetic human being - liberals are people too - you are a cynical person who thinks the emotional allegiance of republicans can be bought in the wake of what isn't even that big of a tragedy by sending some money online for unspecified reasons
― mh 😏, Monday, 17 October 2016 17:49 (eight years ago)
"sorry some people I don't even know bombed your office. I agree with what they wrote on the side of your building, though. If I give you some money will you not firebomb things, and maybe be less of a nazi?"
― mh 😏, Monday, 17 October 2016 17:50 (eight years ago)
ur thinking too `Twitter`. irl election is all about the marginal Republican holding their nose to vote Trump staying home instead; seen cynically, this should budge that dial
― flopson, Monday, 17 October 2016 17:54 (eight years ago)
yah, they might have the $$ to man a call center and get those republican voters to the polls
― mh 😏, Monday, 17 October 2016 17:57 (eight years ago)
heh, true
― flopson, Monday, 17 October 2016 17:57 (eight years ago)
the "funny" thing abt this is the republican nominee is actively consorting with actual nazis and every liberal in the world is all if i had been in germany 1933 i wldve stood up to those monsters, given the chance theyre donating money to the nazis
