I would prefer Monday.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Tuesday, 16 May 2006 16:14 (nineteen years ago)

Oh for fuck's sake - FITE!

(In other words, is that "would prefer" or "must be", since Si can't do any other day practically?)

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Tuesday, 16 May 2006 18:11 (nineteen years ago)

Well I'm expected at a family thing on Sunday at 5pm and would therefore arrive in Glasgow quite late, if at all, and have to leave quite early as Sunday trains = shit (particularly this weekend as there's a shittier than shit replacement bus service).

Then again I saw you only yesterday so it's not a big deal if I miss out.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Tuesday, 16 May 2006 19:48 (nineteen years ago)

OK. I will plan for Sunday, but it will be dependent on flights and hotel availability. As you said, we've just been to Camber.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Tuesday, 16 May 2006 20:35 (nineteen years ago)

I need to know too, like NOW, because if, as hoped, I am offered a job, I want to tell them what day I can start on, and hangovers may be a factor.

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 16 May 2006 20:54 (nineteen years ago)

Or I could exercise some restraint, seeing as how I am teh poor an' that.

Al or Gerry, can you let me know when a decision is made tomorrow please, so I can negotiate my future career accordingly?

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 16 May 2006 20:59 (nineteen years ago)

I can't tell before I check flights and hotels, lunchtime tomorrow is the best I can do. If this isn't OK we'll have to say Monday and Si will just have to turn up when he can.

(This is pretty much since the four of us are the only vocal ones and nobody else seems to be throwing numbers either way)

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Tuesday, 16 May 2006 21:00 (nineteen years ago)

Actually, I'm not that bothered either way. It's really "taking sides, Onimo vs Grimly", innit, for Monday vs Sunday?

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 16 May 2006 21:04 (nineteen years ago)

My actual real preference is for Sunday now, I think, because I can tell teh new work something, and then start on Tuesday and get myself a long lie on Monday. I shall be boozing with Onimo tomorrow, so I think I can survive not seeing him on Sunday. Also, if Grimly is going, we can form a two-person steering committee and nominate the Station Bar. Is reasonably early doors an option?

I realise you won't know until tomorrow lunchtime. I don't do ILX at work, so will need communication via email or text please...

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 16 May 2006 21:18 (nineteen years ago)

hmm. i'm going to blair drummond safari park with my nephew on sunday now, and i've no idea when i'll be back. certainly in time for some beers, though; i'll probably be able to get to a pub for half-eight. but if monday's better for everyone else, don't worry about it; i'll come along as soon as i get out of work.

see? i refuse to fite. i'm compromising instead. verily, i am the peacemaker. or something. the pissmaker, maybe. certainly after five pints of IPA in the station bar.

is anyone else up for this? is anyone else even reading this thread?

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Tuesday, 16 May 2006 22:30 (nineteen years ago)

I'm reading it!

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 16 May 2006 22:33 (nineteen years ago)

so am i!

jed_ (jed), Tuesday, 16 May 2006 22:36 (nineteen years ago)

are you coming to the pub on sunday or monday?

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Tuesday, 16 May 2006 22:37 (nineteen years ago)

I don't think so : (

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 16 May 2006 22:38 (nineteen years ago)

KeefW (kmw), Tuesday, 16 May 2006 22:52 (nineteen years ago)

jed_ (jed), Tuesday, 16 May 2006 22:58 (nineteen years ago)

Bollocks, I've now been told I have to come back down on Tuesday during the day, then back to Glasgow Tuesday night to work in the evening... this is all too rushed, I'm going to have to dip out of this altogether. Sorry glasgow. ailsa, you should get your dvds tonight off Gerry anyway. Can somebody who can use their phone at work text her and let her know? Ta.

I'll come up in the summer when I have some ACTUAL TIME.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Wednesday, 17 May 2006 08:32 (nineteen years ago)

Your employer is crap.

I'll text ailsa.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Wednesday, 17 May 2006 08:44 (nineteen years ago)

They certainly are.

Ta.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Wednesday, 17 May 2006 08:53 (nineteen years ago)

What's this about Sunday?

Mädchen (Madchen), Wednesday, 17 May 2006 09:46 (nineteen years ago)

ailsa would like a pint with someone and I've let her down.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Wednesday, 17 May 2006 10:02 (nineteen years ago)

Talking of crap employers...

I got the sack yesterday for reading my email. No warning, just one strike and out. It was all over in a matter of minutes. Cunts.

So me and Hmmm are no longer colleagues. Boo!

Stew (stew s), Wednesday, 17 May 2006 12:15 (nineteen years ago)

I don't really want a pint on Sunday, I would have preferred Sunday for aldo-FAP is all. The rush to notify me so I could negotiate a start date with my new employer which didn't coincide with a hangover was all in vain, since they haven't actually phoned to offer me the job. Thanks for the DVDs anyway, Al, which I am leaving to go and pick up in a matter of minutes. *checks watch, panics*

Aw, Stew, I'd just applied for a job with your work as well :-(

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 17 May 2006 16:31 (nineteen years ago)

The management there have turned evil. Don't believe all the "you're an associate not an employee" pish! All the best with that though, a job's a job!

Stew (stew s), Wednesday, 17 May 2006 17:27 (nineteen years ago)

bloody hell, stew! that's deeply harsh. fucking hell.

but hey, glasgow. we can still drink without aldo. when shall we do it?

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Wednesday, 17 May 2006 19:56 (nineteen years ago)

So me and Hmmm are no longer colleagues. Boo!

Oh no! Should they not have instigated some sort of disciplinary procedure rather than just asking you to leave?

Shits.

hmmm (hmmm), Wednesday, 17 May 2006 22:36 (nineteen years ago)

Talking again of crap employers, my trip next week has just been fucking cancelled. Since I can't rant and shout in the office I'll do it here instead.

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 18 May 2006 16:46 (nineteen years ago)

aldo, i emailed you to your work because i couldn't remember what variant of your name you used for your email. however, it was to offer to buy you beer in glasgow, so i guess it doesn't matter if you didn't get it.

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 18 May 2006 18:10 (nineteen years ago)

anyone been to the new comme des garcons?

cozen (Cozen), Sunday, 21 May 2006 07:09 (nineteen years ago)

I have no idea where that is but I'm intrigued. To the google machine!

jimnaseum (jimnaseum), Sunday, 21 May 2006 14:14 (nineteen years ago)

jed_ (jed), Tuesday, 23 May 2006 19:23 (nineteen years ago)

did you try talking to him?!

geeta (geeta), Tuesday, 23 May 2006 19:49 (nineteen years ago)

no, i looked at him and he saw some sort of flicker of aknowledgement in me before looking down and walking past.

jed_ (jed), Tuesday, 23 May 2006 19:54 (nineteen years ago)

You'll be glad I've got a lovely new temp job at Yell, starting at the end of next week. It's an ok place to work apparently as most of the people are over-educated slackers like myself.

ATP was rad!

Stew (stew s), Wednesday, 24 May 2006 13:32 (nineteen years ago)

Hurrah for Stew! I need a temp job too, but I can't actually be bothered going any further than Paisley to look for one.

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 24 May 2006 13:41 (nineteen years ago)

no-one at my work is an "over-educated slacker"

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 24 May 2006 13:45 (nineteen years ago)

Perhaps "arts graduate" is a better and more accurate term!

Stew (stew s), Wednesday, 24 May 2006 13:52 (nineteen years ago)

dunno how many, of them, we have, either

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 24 May 2006 14:04 (nineteen years ago)

no-one at my work is RJG. Or Stew, either.

stet (stet), Wednesday, 24 May 2006 14:30 (nineteen years ago)

comme des garcons is here for a year I think

cozen (Cozen), Wednesday, 24 May 2006 15:58 (nineteen years ago)

let's go

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 24 May 2006 16:15 (nineteen years ago)

OK

cozen (Cozen), Wednesday, 24 May 2006 16:24 (nineteen years ago)

how was it?

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Wednesday, 24 May 2006 21:30 (nineteen years ago)

(that didn't work. i thought it would look funnier. sorry.)
