Every time I go to this one place to get falafel wraps, there's a guy either in front of me or behind me in line, asking for a giant ice cream scoop of tuna fish to be slapped on top of a plate of pasta. It's enough to ruin your whole weekend.

I probably wouldn't frequent a falafel place that offered that as an option

theres a japanese dish called ワフパスタ (wafu pasta/chinese pasta) and you fry tuna with some soy sauce and put it on top of noodles with green onions and bonito/mackerel flakes

I prefer pink salmon in sandwiches but tuna, mayo, fine diced onion and a load of dill is xcelent. Sweetcorn in there's good too, if a baguette shop happens to add it in.

Tuna fish sandwiches are delicious. They don't need much else, but crunchy iceberg lettuce is a nice addition. I am also partial to tuna melts.

My only qualms with tuna melts is that hot tuna and mayo can be a bit icky

At the moment, I am working at a Subway inside of a Walmart.

I had a customer come in one day and everything started out smoothly. This lady had been coming in for quite some time, so I kind of recognized her. She’s your typical Walmart customer. Overweight, looking like trailer trash and riding (as we call them in our store) a fat cart. She orders a footlong tuna sandwich and wants us to put all the veggies on it. So, like I said, everything was going smooth until after the veggies were placed on the sandwich. That’s when she said to me, “This may be a strange request.” At this point, I’m thinking that I’ve heard many a people say that, and it’s never really that strange. So, I ask her what she wants and she proceeded to ask me to put 4 white macadamia nut cookies on her tuna sandwich. I think I gave her a really disgusted look, but I’m not sure. I obliged and placed the cookies on her sandwich, but she wasn’t done yet. She then asked me to cover the cookies with vinegar until they were soggy and ready to fall apart. Then to top it off, she made me double up on the mayo over the soggy cookies. At this point, I felt like I wanted to puke all over her sandwich. I think I may have a little into the back of my throat.

This lady is now a regular customer and she gets this same thing every single day.

I must also concur with this. It's a rather bland fish when cooked as a steak. Probably the best use of good tuna is in sushi. I love spicy tuna rolls.

It's wtf to me that someone would go to that trouble for a snack.

What I find strange is theres plenty of other seafood that pongs way more than tuna but people seem to only ever complain about tuna being smelly.

Mackerel sandwiches aren't very common (or people cracking open a can of it at their desk).

Hardboiled eggs are another example and people do eat them at their desk and of course in the lunchroom

Tinned tuna is fine if you eat it soon. There are more things that smell bad that people eat. Ever since i moved to LA i find there is a lot more stinky food here that wasn't smelly where i moved from. Might be because LA is warmer and people don't keep foods at the right temperature, but it has made me more cautious of where I'm getting it from -- deli meat, beef and pork for example

I don't think of tuna as being a fishysmelly fish. I've had more offensive fish lunches at work. I had leftover fish curry once. I should have been sacked.

tuna smells gross - the smell of other fish is just a more pure fishy smell - tuna has a sort of dampness to the smell.
