At the moment, I am working at a Subway inside of a Walmart.
I had a customer come in one day and everything started out smoothly. This lady had been coming in for quite some time, so I kind of recognized her. She’s your typical Walmart customer. Overweight, looking like trailer trash and riding (as we call them in our store) a fat cart. She orders a footlong tuna sandwich and wants us to put all the veggies on it. So, like I said, everything was going smooth until after the veggies were placed on the sandwich. That’s when she said to me, “This may be a strange request.” At this point, I’m thinking that I’ve heard many a people say that, and it’s never really that strange. So, I ask her what she wants and she proceeded to ask me to put 4 white macadamia nut cookies on her tuna sandwich. I think I gave her a really disgusted look, but I’m not sure. I obliged and placed the cookies on her sandwich, but she wasn’t done yet. She then asked me to cover the cookies with vinegar until they were soggy and ready to fall apart. Then to top it off, she made me double up on the mayo over the soggy cookies. At this point, I felt like I wanted to puke all over her sandwich. I think I may have a little into the back of my throat.

This lady is now a regular customer and she gets this same thing every single day.

A mix of canned tuna, Campbell's cream of mushroom soup, and canned green beans whacked into a casserole dish, topped with fried onions and baked until it is hot as napalm - this might as well be the state dish of Minnesota. Reader, I moved.

i couldn't live without fish from a can or a tin. it is amazing.

rtc otm tho, just buy the jarred brindisa tuna on ocado, it's expensive but it's worth every penny. big jar of it and some bread, maybe an anchovy or two, decent olive oil and a glass of wine. easiest and best dinner.

a big mason jar of mixed seafood terrines, gouged out with sourdough, was one recent memorable lazy dinner which had tt cowering in the next room

tuna sandwiches are good. excellent cricket match tea option and I'll generally go for a mix of white and wholemeal breads, cucumber preferred. my only real dislike is as dog latin says for the presence of sweetcorn

boil pasta. pour olive oil from tuna into pan. fry chilli and garlic. toss tuna thru briefly. toss pasta thru. add herbs and lemon zest if u like. settle down in front of the laptop and play out being the same spoilt little brat you were thirty years ago. job done

my mum made variations of tuna pasta too often for me to ever do that dish. i can barely eat pasta anymore, we had so fucking much of it as a kid. #middleclassproblems

My friend Olly from uni similarly couldn't eat pasta anymore. Whereas my parents never had anything but potatoes.

Also I don't think I've ever had tuna pasta.

we had potatoes loads but i dunno, i could never get sick of those. genetics. i fucking love potatoes and rice - i do like pasta fine just never cook it. was interesting to note a sharp decline in the sales of pasta sauces in the uk, feels like the end of a strange era.

there is a wide spectrum of tuna sandwiches or tuna salads, from delicious to disgusting. if it's good then i'm down but i can easily see how people think it's an abomination

same goes for potato salads or egg salad or any mayo-based thing

I haven't tried canned tuna again for years because I'd start retching every time I tried as a kid. Something about that somewhat metallic tang (of the fish, not from being canned) combined with the texture is bleh

Tuna fish pie consisted of canned tuna mixed with canned condensed mushroom soup, topped with mash potato, and a sprinkling of cheese on top.

I've not had this in years but I reckon it would be perfect comfort food.

I love tinned anchovies - they are the only tinned fish I will eat, but the Spanish tins of clams, mussels, octopus or squid are amazing.

Another form of tuna I will eat: bonito flakes. Love them wriggling away on top of okonomiyaki.

Is okonomiyaki readily available in the UK? I'd never heard of it until last month, during a stay in Tokyo. It's delicious and I brought back some bags of okonomiyaki mix. Apparently there's a resto here (Paris) that sells it but, like, just one, I think.

ah nice. I see that there are a couple more places now here, e.g. http://www.okomusu.com, just around the corner from the place with the best fries in town, Chez Nenesse (but only on Thursdays for lunch when the fries are made with duck fat).

relevance to thread: sometimes Europeans do awful things like put mayo on fries, thus making them cousins of the foul tuna fish sandwiches.
