Well, I live about five minutes' walk from an okonomiyaki restaurant, one of maybe five in London. This is it: http://www.abeno.co.uk

ah nice. I see that there are a couple more places now here, e.g. http://www.okomusu.com, just around the corner from the place with the best fries in town, Chez Nenesse (but only on Thursdays for lunch when the fries are made with duck fat).
relevance to thread: sometimes Europeans do awful things like put mayo on fries, thus making them cousins of the foul tuna fish sandwiches.

mayo on fries is delicious and so are tuna sandwiches and so is tuna mayo in a backed potato and it is also ok with corn though will admit that I was grossed out by it as first

"was interesting to note a sharp decline in the sales of pasta sauces in the uk"
maybe that case of botulism in a Lloyd Grossman branded jar of processed gloop didn't help. I peel and de-seed a shitload of tomatoes every week to make my own sauce/soup batches these days, so obviously I'm dead sophisticated.
But there is nowt wrong with this particular model of sarnie imo. It is sort of classic - but I see the BLT as a classic as well and even the chattering classes love a BLT maybe?. I had a tuna crunch baguette from Greggs the other day. It lacked a lot of crunch and could have done with some mustard, but it was still basically quite a tasty + enjoyable sandwich.

So I thought tuna casserole made with condensed canned soup (bleeugh) was a particularly midwestern thing but there you are, some UK people also mentioning it.
Does anyone do it the way I grew up with it? The sauce is bechamel. Thick bechamel, onions, tuna and then add whatever else you want (some people do corn, some apple or pineapple PS THIS IS WRONG AND AWFUL). Top with cheese and breadcrumbs or mash then cheesy topping then bake.
― Stoop Crone (Trayce), Friday, 17 February 2017 08:00 (seven years ago) link
I am both a UK person and an exiled Midwesterner. The UK has become more attuned to both Thanksgiving and trash American food in the past decade, which may be why horrific forms of hotdish are being discussed here.

I'm gonna buy tuna this weekend and do fucking awesome tuna melts. I bet Nora will love them.
Also, didn't Suzy confirm on a previous thread where I disgusted Americans that American mayo is not comparable to British mayo?
Mayo with chips is all time.
Also goes quite nicely with chili.

For reference, mayo repulsed me until I was about 18 and I first experienced chips dipped in mayo. Or fries, for Americans. Chips dipped in fries.

I couldn't eat mayo, egg yolks, or the fat on any kind of red meat because of similar "vommed it during chemotherapy" reasons I still avoid canned tuna or any kind of squash (except for pumpkin in pie) to this day.

nobody confirmed anything about there being any delicious mayo. American mayo is disgusting. English mayo, so different and so unlike its gauche cousin, is also disgusting. a fine aeoli, delicate as a spring afternoon, fresh and bright on the tongue, is fucking disgusting. is there Dutch mayo? it is disgusting. is there Spanish mayo? it is disgusting. the special, mild, tangy mayo at the sushi bar? see here old boy: it's foul shit. wherefore it does us no force which mayo we're talking about: howsobeit that they have many differences, they are one in their fitness for the garbage can, unless they find their destiny in a tuna fish sandwich.
