JUst not getting the Xmas thing in Galway this year.
Is there a reason that the students had an XMas all day do on the 16th of BOIvember where everybody was wearing Xmas jumpers and getting vomiting drunk around town in the late afternoon.
Then teh Xmas market in the town's main square starts on the next day 17th of November, and this year runs to the 8th December. Odd up til now I think it's gone 22nd Nov to 22nd Dec which to me makes more sense. People wanting to get Xmassy at Xmas time.
NOw there's like 17 days between the end of teh market an dXmas day. &I don't know what they have planned afterwards.

I thought the black Friday week was closer to the traditional Xmas day usually too. That's on this week.

I mean LIDL starts in with teh Xmas stuff before Halloween and I think the other Supermarkets are similar. BUt this seems to be an entire town wanting a calendar to be rewritten. Is it happening elsewhere too?

this is infinitely dumber and far less hilarious than christmas day, when they send me stock photos of an apple. not any special sort of apple, just a plain apple. because it’s christmas.

there’s a pun that doesn’t work in english (and tbh barely works in chinese) where part of the word for christmas eve (平安夜) is sort-of-but-not-really like the word for apple (苹果), and at some point a billion people missed the pun and got the idea we give out apples at christmas

i found this out the hard way, after a not-insignificant number of chinese people sent me photos of apples all at the same time

even weirder is when you go to a major chinese shopping mall in december and there’s a giant purple xmas tree out the front

dude posted his Gofundme again. he wants to raise $1,500 due to his car accident, because he states his car was left undrivable and without it, he can't work his second job.

Except he still hasn't stated what the money is for. Presumably his car insurance would pay for the car repairs, and I can't imagine he has a $1,500 deductible (many lienholders won't even let you have a deductible that high). Usually insurance provides a rental car, though maybe he did not elect that on his policy. Is it the deductible? A rental car? Lost wages?

I don't know the guy really or I'd ask him (he's more a friend of a friend) but just irks me when people aren't specific.
