truly, we must treat Donald Trump with the dignity he deserves
― algorithm is a dancer (katherine), Sunday, 28 January 2018 23:40 (eight years ago)
finding the nicknames stupid has nothing to do with dignity
― Simon H., Sunday, 28 January 2018 23:44 (eight years ago)
flappy bird otm. The cute albeit belittling nicknames make me cringe. It acknowledges this level of familiarity that I deeply wish I didn’t have.

― fuck you, your hat is horrible (Neanderthal), Sunday, 28 January 2018 23:46 (eight years ago)
i usually call him "our president"
― difficult listening hour, Sunday, 28 January 2018 23:46 (eight years ago)
guys this is a stupid argument I didn't mean for it to be taken with deathly seriousness. glad to see everyone in usual formation, though
― k3vin k., Sunday, 28 January 2018 23:54 (eight years ago)
We need more discourse
― treeship 2, Sunday, 28 January 2018 23:57 (eight years ago)
when they invent the profanity strong enough to describe how i feel about president trump i'll use it. until then i'll stick with "president trump" or "the president of the united states".

scoops²
― reggie (qualmsley), Monday, 29 January 2018 01:43 (eight years ago)
donnie two scoops isn’t a playground nickname. it’s a two bit gangster nickname, which is why it’s so appropriate.
― maura, Monday, 29 January 2018 08:50 (eight years ago)
and i usually don’t refer to him by anything except the president (i try to not use his name because of the unpleasant way it thuds into a conversation). but of all the nicknames out there (many of which are bad) the one that sounds like it would be hissed over an illegal card game is most fitting.
― maura, Monday, 29 January 2018 08:52 (eight years ago)
I am sad that there already are a bunch of Donald Dumptrucks out there.
― Yerac, Monday, 29 January 2018 09:12 (eight years ago)
dud
― bhad and bhabie (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Monday, 29 January 2018 12:39 (eight years ago)
i call him "2 scoops". game of cards indeed. fuck the trumps -- granddad ran a brothel, dad was arrested at a KKK rally (and not for protesting!), 2 scoops and 2 scoops senior were fined for racist housing policy, and the guy inherited $200,000,000 but talks like a drunk bigot even though he's sober and "president". and that's his appeal!
― reggie (qualmsley), Monday, 29 January 2018 12:41 (eight years ago)
It's funny to remember that people on this board used to make fun of dr morbius for saying like "shillary clintDUMB" and now everybody does that shit

― Yerac, Monday, 29 January 2018 14:07 (eight years ago)
xp yeah the odds are not great on Barron shaking out to be a decent human being. That's a pretty rough lineage, he'd have to be radicalized out of it.

used to make fun of dr morbius for saying like

― j., Monday, 29 January 2018 14:55 (eight years ago)
i for one am keenly anticipating the reign of the boy-king barron from 2019-apocalypse (exact date tbc)
― your skeleton is ready to hatch (bizarro gazzara), Monday, 29 January 2018 14:56 (eight years ago)
I have probably said this before, but my childhood was replete with political spawn. Strom Thurmond's daughter was a classmate of mine, the Cheney girls were schoolmates, we were distantly aware of Tucker Quayle and the Scalia kids, yadda yadda.
Personally I would rather not speculate on them until they actually enter the arena of their own volition (as the Cheneys did and as Ivanka has done).

I remain confused about this characterization of Melania Trump—that she's some beacon of goodness, must surely be decent because her husband is such an ogre. Is there something about her that leads people to believe this? She seems terrible.
― Patton Oswalt Defense Lawyer (Hadrian VIII), Monday, 29 January 2018 15:34 (eight years ago)
i suspect it's because melania cuts a pretty depressed figure as first lady, so she looks like we feel
mind you she married trump in the first place so i dunno how much sympathy she deserves
― your skeleton is ready to hatch (bizarro gazzara), Monday, 29 January 2018 15:37 (eight years ago)
Maybe she's depressed because her values are fucked up and she made some terrible choices in life. Fuck her for being complicit.
― Patton Oswalt Defense Lawyer (Hadrian VIII), Monday, 29 January 2018 15:40 (eight years ago)
I've never understood the logic either. She could divorce him and upend his whole shit if she wanted to and she'd have a ton of support from all kinds of corners, but there's no real indication she actually wants to mess with anything. xp
― Simon H., Monday, 29 January 2018 15:41 (eight years ago)
Like, you don't have to marry the American because he has a helicopter. It's not like he rescued her from some miserable life.
― Patton Oswalt Defense Lawyer (Hadrian VIII), Monday, 29 January 2018 15:43 (eight years ago)
it mainly strikes me as another hopeful but baseless fantasy of #resistance that people cling to tbh, unless there's some actual substantive statements of hers I've missed
― Simon H., Monday, 29 January 2018 15:45 (eight years ago)
honoring trump with any kind of nickname is ridiculous, you're just entering into his own game. it's silly but it's also exactly what he loves doing with anyone he doesn't like
― flappy bird, Monday, 29 January 2018 15:47 (eight years ago)
You guys should read this important piece from the progressive newspaper called the New York Times: The Quiet Radicalism of Melania Trump

the resistance is coming from inside the white house: the first term of melania trump
― omar little, Monday, 29 January 2018 15:49 (eight years ago)
She is terrible. I don’t know how anyone could spend time with trump and then marry him. Fucking gross. The reason a lot of people try to spin her as a good person trapped in a hellhole is because the reality of trump is so far apart from our own lives that they resemble tv show characters more than real people. A tv show needs at least one sympathetic character for the audience to identify with, somewhere, and she’s the least worst option.
― Karl Malone, Monday, 29 January 2018 15:49 (eight years ago)
lord almighty that ny times piece
the quiet radicalism of doing absolutely nothing
makes u think
― your skeleton is ready to hatch (bizarro gazzara), Monday, 29 January 2018 15:50 (eight years ago)
xpost lol yeah I read yet the other day. Classic clickbait title! She is a radical because she hates her husband so much and refuses to use her position to help people or take up some sort of cause that she believes in.
― Karl Malone, Monday, 29 January 2018 15:50 (eight years ago)
none of the trumps are worth a shit. people are making the mistake of thinking that because maybe the trump marriage isn't great, that means she actually gives a fuck about the people his policies are affecting. i would say the chances of that are pretty low.
― omar little, Monday, 29 January 2018 15:52 (eight years ago)
She sees the opportunity as First Lady to try to make sure that at least ONE good thing happen during her family’s time in power, and she radically says “no”
