(Shit like this is also a very good reason for my rule of "never ever anyone ever" when it comes to FB/Twitter and work colleagues and the adding thereof. Never gonna happen).

the one time I did list where I worked and posted about a raise I got, somehow that I don't know (cos this person wasn't my FB friend), I got tattled on to my boss.
I do have a lot of coworkers on my list but they're all members of a group that I hide from reading anything I post.

Trudat, but if the company has no official agreed-to rules on this stuff I doubt they can pull disciplinary on it. Assuming Canada's similar to aus on that front anyways.

interested to see what Canada's laws are like and how the legal action will play out. In the States, if you work in a right-to-work state like I do, you still can't be fired for things like being pregnant, for retaliation, for disability, etc things all protected by law, but you can be fired without cause otherwise. they really don't need a reason. and of course it is especially easy to break the aforementioned laws and just make up another, unrelated reason.
in a way that's what gave me my second wind when shit hit the fan last year cos I figured if they wanted me out they'd find a reason so might as well say what's on my mind.
― fuck the NRA (Neanderthal), Tuesday, 13 March 2018 03:17 (six years ago) link

there are private conference rooms here that require reservation. people for some reason think they're first come first serve and commandeer them so you have to tell them to get out.
the other annoying thing is they use it to cut through to get to their desks. it saves .00005 seconds, and they assume it's unoccupied, so they barge in and interrupt yr meeting, then loudly say "sorry" before slamming the door and breaking yr concentration.

so we have a new marketing guy and he just moved to the usa i think two years ago
good lad, quiet, is doing his best to learn english and doing so very well
i receive the company's email ad today and i see he spelled it alleluia (i guess he was going for something easter related)
i briefly mention i think it's spelled hallelujah, and i do a quick google and 103n4rd c0h3n comes up
and then i lightheartedly say ah a great canadian, and he says, he's not canadian
and i'm like, uh...he is? and he says he's jewish
i work in a cubicle but there are many cubicles close by and the walls are very low, so another non-us person shows her support for he's jewish and i'm like, wait, jewish is not a nationality what is going on here, i'm not saying he's not jewish
and then someone from another cubicle yells no one cares if he's c4n4d14n infinity! and starts laughing
and i'm like what is this nonsense and i tell her to butt out bc she is always interrupting mine and others' conversations and then a huge argument among all four of us breaks out
but the marketer quickly mellows out and after the argument continues talking normally, which is all cool, but he says (he is from 42m3n1a) that most people he has encountered say c0h3n is jewish but never canadian
is this a thing? maybe this goes under the things you were surprisingly old when you learned thread

And I was making a joke about Vladimir Putin, who just last week floated the idea that the U.K. spy might not have been poisoned by Russians, but instead possibly by "Ukrainians, Tatars or Jews but with Russian citizenship" as if a Jew with Russian citizenship weren't a Russian.

I went into the office a week or two ago in an area that was populated by customer service reps and all of a sudden the rep nexts to me starts hollering "omg, what is that smell?" and everybody else is like "what smell" and she's trying to talk to her customer, while putin him on hold every few seconds to bark "omg that smell, it's making me SICK", and she starts gagging, and nobody else really smells anything. and then she goes "Oh god this smell, I'm gonna be sick" and then asks to put the customer on hold, slaps off her headset, and i see her russian into the ladies room.
she then comes back and keeps talking about the smell for like 2 minutes before she remembers to take her customer off hold. it turned out to be ham or perfume or some shit, idk

the latest thing in my office from Execs is pure CYA confirmations - i.e., them asking for statuses of things not because they actually give a shit and want to know the state of the state, but so they can trap you into confirming something in writing to nail you with later.
like today, a customer service manager was asked - "can you confirm the extract of test cases were inserted and that the database will be somewhat stable tomorrow". The former is easy to confirm - the latter, lol GTFO. we're a 100+ client company with thousands of users, any one single thing could render the database slow af, and nobody in fucking customer service can control or prevent it.

Lol...
So while my candicacy is still open for the new position, my boss gave me some small temp assignments until I know if I got it. 1.5 months ago one of those tasks was literally just copying a quiz verbatim into SurveyMonkey. No analysis...just cut/paste. It was posted around that time and peer reviewed.
They are training on it *tomorrow*, and at almost 6:45 ET (long after I leave), one of the trainers frantically emails me and the guy who wrote it saying I HAVE CONCERNS CAN U URGENTLY ADDRESS?!!! IE by tomorrow.
Ignored it...but boy I hope I get this new job lol.
