I NEED SAVES! Someone help me!

The ceramic GM is cute. The real GM isn't as cute, but he started a season in equally asstastic fashion (y'know, where all those hittable pitches he threws got hit hahd), but he turned it around. Maybe he needs to get some "pitching help" (wink wink) from Don Sutton.

KKKKKKyle Farnsworth got me a hold pitching like a tee ball coach. Therefore, holds are klassik.

Have any of the Braves players ever seen winter before? They're dressed like Packer fans, w/out the cheese. They should lose for disrespecting the baseball gods and not Toughing It Out. Also, having Brian Litrell from the Backstreet Boys singing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" for a Turner South promo - that's worth at least 3 circles of Hell.

Ugh someone stop the Danny Graves as starter experiment NOW.

Leee (Leee), Thursday, 10 April 2003 23:29 (twenty-one years ago) link

But say hello to KKKKKurt Ainsworth!

Leee (Leee), Friday, 11 April 2003 03:40 (twenty-one years ago) link

He was sweet. And, lord, Pac Bell is gorgeous.

David R. (popshots75`), Friday, 11 April 2003 03:43 (twenty-one years ago) link

Fine! Nobody wants my David Wells? Hmph.

Ahem, speaking of Vultures, I present Tim "15 pitches" Spooneybarger:

Florida  IP  H  R  ER  BB SO HR ERA
Beckett 5.0 6 2 2 3 7 1 3.29
Tejera 2.2 2 1 1 1 3 1 3.12
Nunez, V 0.1 0 0 0 0 1 0 10.80
Spooneybarger (W, 1-0) 1.0 0 0 0 0 0 0 3.00

Pitches-strikes: Beckett 93-54, Tejera 46-31, Nunez, V , Spooneybarger 15-9

I care not for my 4-place drop in standings. I rule you all in strikeouts and wins.

"I care not for my 4-place drop in standings"

Your words say one thing but your heart speaks another.

I've decided to tinker with my lineup til the cows come home.

Wait, hold on, what's that .... OH MY GOD THAT'S BESSIE'S MUSIC!

I will not deny that my heart longs for this . . . (reaching for ILB Championship Ring)

chicks dig karats

lawrence kansas (lawrence kansas), Friday, 11 April 2003 13:24 (twenty-one years ago) link

I keep wanting to bench Scott Hatteberg in favor of Mark Teixara but Hatteberg keeps going like 2 for 3 and 3 for 5! I have a similar problem with Todd "I sound like a good-hitting Colorado player but I'm not" Walker at second base. It's annoying.

felicity (felicity), Friday, 11 April 2003 19:51 (twenty-one years ago) link

Okay already, enough with the strikeouts, Carlos Zambrano -- how about a good old fashioned W?

felicity (felicity), Friday, 11 April 2003 19:52 (twenty-one years ago) link

I NEED SAVES! Someone help me!

Dave R., you should trade Leee for Danny Graves because he needs to put the letter "C" in front of his current job description if you know what I mean, ha ha!

felicity (felicity), Friday, 11 April 2003 20:08 (twenty-one years ago) link

I want some of your Ks, Felicity. I'm in 2nd place but I'm feeling sort of, you know..... lacking.

Aaron W (Aaron W), Friday, 11 April 2003 20:13 (twenty-one years ago) link

I still want your Alex Gonzalez. Take your pick of anyone but Undroppable Prior and we'll talk. Email me or I'll make you an opening offer over.

felicity (felicity), Friday, 11 April 2003 20:17 (twenty-one years ago) link

I have no idea what Felicity means.

Leee (Leee), Friday, 11 April 2003 20:36 (twenty-one years ago) link

Felicity-- I made you a trade proposal... lemme know what you think.

Aaron W (Aaron W), Friday, 11 April 2003 20:48 (twenty-one years ago) link

Furthermore, I need to move some pitching. Who needs pitching? indeed.

Leee (Leee), Friday, 11 April 2003 20:49 (twenty-one years ago) link

Guthrie throw a perfect one third inning!! First place ahoy!!

Well Graves is kind of a "loser" now, get it?

felicity (felicity), Friday, 11 April 2003 22:04 (twenty-one years ago) link

Holy Mackeral, Blount is rocking the Saves category with Mike Williams (S, 5)!

felicity (felicity), Friday, 11 April 2003 22:06 (twenty-one years ago) link

Why is LaRussa leaving Matt Morris in to throw his 119th pitch to Jeff Kent representing the winning run? After both Bagwell & GEOFF BLUM took him to the warning track? AND after Berkman nearly decapitated Tino w/ a hott shot to 1st? Like, duh, even Ted Turner would've pulled Morris.

119 pitches in his second start, too? ?!?! ?!?!?!

David R. (popshots75`), Saturday, 12 April 2003 01:28 (twenty-one years ago) link

oh didn't bnw tell you? Dave Duncan has a mandate to break every single Cardinal pitcher's arm one way or another. It has always been that way. It's awful but htey really do horribly mistreat pitchers.

In happier news, that's the way, Fischerspooneybaby. You can hold my lead any day.

felicity (felicity), Saturday, 12 April 2003 01:31 (twenty-one years ago) link

He was left in b/c the the Cards bullpen got its jock handed to it numerous times by the Rockies. We miss dizzy Izzy.

Still not a W b/n Matty Mo and Pedro. Who knows what we doing.

bnw (bnw), Saturday, 12 April 2003 01:36 (twenty-one years ago) link

FUCKING BERKMAN SUCK MY DICK YOU WORTHLESS PIECE OF CRAP.

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Saturday, 12 April 2003 02:21 (twenty-one years ago) link

THAT GOES DOUBLE FOR TORII "GIRL NAME" HUNTER.

But Luis Castillo ACTUALLY STOLE A BASE! Why, he's practically en fuego!

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Saturday, 12 April 2003 02:23 (twenty-one years ago) link

It makes me cry when managerial geniuses like LaRussa & Dusty & Jimy (who really deserves the scare quotes around the genius tag I'm merely implying) (wait, where was I?) (oh, yeah) it makes me cry when these smartypanters can't handle the most basic booshit. Like, y'know, playing good players. And, y'know, not fuck around w/ pitchers. And, y'know, stuff.

And my sympathies to you Johnson & Schilling owners, but, man, it's nice to see the D-Backs crap out early in the season. Bwah hah hah.

David R. (popshots75`), Saturday, 12 April 2003 02:51 (twenty-one years ago) link

Had he gone to the pen and they coughed up the game (as happened last week vs the 'stros), LaRussa would be an idiot for not leaving Morris in. (This is stl sports talk radio x10,000,000) complete games roxx. babying pitch counts is gay.

bnw (bnw), Saturday, 12 April 2003 03:36 (twenty-one years ago) link

You know, you "gamers" with your "suck it up" and your "what statheads don't understand is..." and your "numbers never won a game" and your "Rex Hudler"...blah blah blah.

Torii Hunter get it together already!!!

felicity (felicity), Saturday, 12 April 2003 06:29 (twenty-one years ago) link

Torii blows! Do you have him in ILM, f? I didn't check, all I know is he is absolutely KILLING my other team.

*sigh* I'll take solace in the fact that lots o' good players are doing poorly and the season is young, but time is getting nigh...

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Saturday, 12 April 2003 06:53 (twenty-one years ago) link

I take solace in Spooneybaby.

felicity (felicity), Saturday, 12 April 2003 13:44 (twenty-one years ago) link

That 15 pitch victory was an abomination unto the lord.

lawrence kansas (lawrence kansas), Saturday, 12 April 2003 14:16 (twenty-one years ago) link

I'm surprised no enterprising writerly types w/ a penchant for snarky witticisms haven't vultured Felicity's snazzy little term. Chris Kahrl to thread!

David R. (popshots75`), Saturday, 12 April 2003 14:22 (twenty-one years ago) link

Unfortunately there's no witticisms to had by Al Chaby.

I tore my hair out last night watching the Indians lose to the Royals 1-0. Bottom of the ninth and Spencer trys to stretch a double into a triple and gets thrown out. I'm losing it. I need a (Desi) Baez (Jr)save to calm me down.

lawrence kansas (lawrence kansas), Saturday, 12 April 2003 14:48 (twenty-one years ago) link

And WFT happened to the Royals uniforms? Black Hats? Does every freakin team have to wear black these days? Is black the new black?

Re: wit & the Chicago Cubs (copyright Baseball Prospectus & their constituents):

"It usually isn't the Cubs if something disappointing hasn't happened, and sure, enough, that's the case here. Now sure, Bobby Hill could have helped himself by having a great camp, but he was good enough to win the job last spring, last summer, and last fall. Why should a little bit of March yips change anything? Because the new sheriff in town probably needed to see something, in the same way that he's convinced that Mark Bellhorn's not good enough if he's only hitting homeruns or drawing walks. But again, perhaps far too predictably, a Dusty-designed team favored the graybeards. So Eric Karros and Mark Grudzielanek will play, although at least Hee Choi managed to hold onto a job-sharing arrangement at first. And then you've got a Cubs bench loaded with some of the scrubbier scrubs around, Tom Goodwin and Lenny Harris and Troy O'Leary, all years removed from utility, plus Ramon E. Martinez, who, like Goodwin, is another one of Dusty's guys from the Giants. You can almost sense the disappointment that Antonio Alfonseca wasn't healthy, so that Kyle Farnsworth could be flagellated for contributing to the unlamented departure of Don Baylor. Rod Beck had a good enough camp to make it, but having overcommitted to guys like Dave Veres and Mark Guthrie already, the Cubs were a bit hamstrung in terms of their choices in the bullpen. Should they finally find a partner to deal for Farnsworth, they'll have made space for someone appropriately old enough to not be mistaken for one of the batboy's fathers."

Yip!

David R. (popshots75`), Saturday, 12 April 2003 14:53 (twenty-one years ago) link

Ouch, Zito [Felicity close your eyes NOW] coughing up 7 in 5 innings. That along with Pedro yesterday, who'd'a thunk.

But haha to whoever picked up Dempster after me.

Haha and Weathers gets the 2-inning hold but Benitez blows it AND Rocky Biddle gets the win in the same game!

Berkman FINALLY got his first rbi! And HR! Yay!

Leee, you have to call him the Rockmeister.

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Sunday, 13 April 2003 21:14 (twenty-one years ago) link

Leee, always a pleasure doing business with you. Being a pedigreed former CDK pitcher always carries with it a certain guarantee of quality. I demand retractions from everyone who even contemplated vetoing the Lo Duca for Biddle trade for being too one-sided in my favor.

OMG, KKKKKKKKKKerry Wood threw a gem yesterday.

Leee (Leee), Sunday, 13 April 2003 21:48 (twenty-one years ago) link

did you finally seduce zito, felicity? is that where his brane was today???

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Sunday, 13 April 2003 22:05 (twenty-one years ago) link

It's so nice to see World Champions the Anaheim Angels getting the respect for which they have worked so hard.

Maybe Zito just wants to fit in with the other Hall of Famer pitchers who have been stinking it up. He's impressionable. It's been worth it for the sweet extra Smoltz footage talking about what's wrong with Maddux on BT.
