i'm now looking up kim milford's imdb biography, which goes from
"In 1970 he was awarded the Faith and Freedom Award by the Religious Heritage of America for his portrayal of the Prodigal Son in ABC Directories series "Round Trip"."
to "in addition, he's on some bootlegs of the Aug-Sept '72 Jeff Beck concerts."
this is in fact the second mention of his stint in the jeff beck group in the one-paragraph biography, suggesting milford's imdb biographer has serious issues with short-term memory loss

Milford and Mark Hamill were buds IIRC, and of course they appeared together in Corvette Summer.
Cry Wilderness was a nice way to end it, it definitely was one of last season's best.

just a headsup: the laserblast sdtk is available on itunes. "Billy's Radio" #s 1 AND 2, "Tony Discovers Black Spot," "Chuck's Car Gets Blasted," "Billy and Kathy Make Love." all right there.

Laserblast gets TWO AND A HALF stars in the Leonard Maltin movie guide... ie higher than Taxi Driver and Blue Velvet. He was really impressed with the stop motion work...

they do a whole bit about that in the MST3K credits

"laserblast" is an embarrassment of riches with all the crummy effects shots, the car-salesman FBI agent, "ready for some football," the pointless eddie deezen crap, etc., but maybe what's most unique is the real lazy aimless hangout vibe that winds through the first 1/2 to 2/3 of the film, just sunny california and a sullen blonde guy killing time. quoth tom, "there's a point when it stops being a movie."

I still haven’t seen the Laserblast episode but I’m going to go ahead and assume that Taxi Driver is an objectively better film.

ok this is the most LA thing I’vd ever heardhttps://www.imdb.com/title/tt0095560/trivia?tab=tr&item=tr0707017The McDonalds scenes were all shot in City of Industry, CA, just outside Los Angeles. The set was a real-life McDonald's built specifically for crew member training and filming television commercials. Everything inside worked, but it never served a real customer. When it wasn't being used, it was locked up behind a chain link fence. It has since been torn down, then in 2006 was rebuilt but has never been open to the public. See filming locations for the exact address.

These are pretty good so far; as good as the best eps of last season I think. Atlantic rim is pretty dire and so new that it doesn’t feel right. Like you need 15-20 years of remove before it works

I watched through to The Day Time Ended -- is there a story about how this movie happened? It's bonkers. IMDB contributers think the stop motion monsters were dinosaurs, but I don't know. The animation is actually pretty good, but the monsters and alien don't fit in with the rest of the movie at all.

Watching the Mac and Me episode was kind of a surreal experience, since I actually saw this film in theatres. Some context: when I was 10, my parents and I went to go see Midnight Run but the lady at the ticket counter basically shamed my mother about taking her child to that film and pressured my parents towards Mac and Me instead. To say that it is the worst movie that we ever saw theatrically is no small claim; other movies I saw in theatres as a child included Poltergeist 2 and Allan Quartermain and the Lost City of Gold.
Anwyay, the episode itself is pretty funny, and the film gives them plenty to work with. Also, they don't make note of it, and I couldn't spot her myself, but apparently Jennifer Aniston is dancing somewhere in that McDonalds sequence.

I'm somewhat disappointed but hardly surprised that the It's Just a Show podcast verdict on Racket Girls is that it's ungood, as opposed to a clear series high point (which it is).

Meantime, Joel's announced he's doing one last live tour with the bots; no Jonah this time, if that factors into a decision of whether to go or not. Full details here:

The two movies are, per the Kickstarter note:
"No Retreat, No Surrender"A self-conscious teen becomes a martial arts master under the tutelage of Bruce Lee’s ghost. Featuring fresh-faced Jean-Claude Van Damme as a brooding hit man and a Bruce Lee lookalike, who looks nothing like Bruce Lee."Circus of Horrors"A garish 1960s British thriller showcasing mod circus acts, plastic surgery, and animal attacks by stagehands in fur suits. Warning: Features the pop hit “Look for a Star” over and over again.
