Everything hurts. EVERYTHING HURTS.
My knees make crunching chip sounds. I cant tolerate a drink anymore. BLARGH.

Feeling you on that.I’m enjoying my first case of cellulitis!
― mom tossed in kimchee (quincie), Thursday, 27 June 2019 23:30 (six years ago)
fucking shoulder got me of late and a sudden case of apnea. What used to be fighting for gains is now fighting to keep above water.not for weaklings, as they say.

Mmm, cellulitis sounds like a joy. I had a bad attack of shingles earlier this year (Jan/Feb), all over my upper back and shoulders, and down my right arm from elbow to hand (including fingers and palm). It lasted close to a month, and I've still got one dark spot on my inner elbow that seems permanent.

I am 46 and don't look it at all.
― calstars, Friday, 28 June 2019 01:22 (six years ago)
My hair turned white over the last two months. I don't even care, I don't have enough of it to be bothered about, but no, I don't look like I did fifteen years ago.
― Flood-Resistant Mirror-Drilling Machine (rushomancy), Friday, 28 June 2019 02:30 (six years ago)
i'm salt and peppering at the temples but I'm likely to be full white by 50. looking forward to it tbh!

Ive been fully silver since my 20s. Still wondering when to stop dyeing it red.
― Stoop Crone (Trayce), Friday, 28 June 2019 04:08 (six years ago)
hair started falling out a decade ago. shaved it clean and never looked back.colleagues at work recently got annoyed with me for not being in my 30s, and last month a guy tried really hard to get me to go to an under 35s meetup (i kept telling him it would be creepy and he kept saying “nah it’s fine because everyone’s under 35”)

I feel you. I got the flu three years ago and ended up with a cough for three months afterward. At one point, I coughed so hard a tore a rib muscle, which was fun, because it then hurt to cough.

I'm on the first day of a cold today. Can't wait to see how long it'll last, and how much all my bones will ache while it's here.

We spent 45 years together, my left ACL and I. Too bad about that poorly executed dismount from that (not even very tall!) horse.
RIP ACL, in more ways than one.
I'll miss you along with your buddy, intact meniscus.

^^^this. So much more difficult than I thought they would be, and now my shoulder and wrist hurt more than my knee!
― mom tossed in kimchee (quincie), Tuesday, 17 September 2019 02:09 (five years ago)
thanks dan! It's two weeks post surgery and i went to my first live show with a friend in full cast-and-brace drag. Not dead yet motherfuckers!shit still hurts a lot though and i can't really use my arm yet for more than typing. prognosis is a month to lose the cast and maybe three to six to start to not hurt anymore after physical therapy?sorry about your acl quincie, that sounds terrible! i understand your crutch pain; the sling is just about breaking my neck!
― Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Tuesday, 17 September 2019 04:36 (five years ago)
cast and sling at a show - what a hero! that’s some dedication. i hope the rehab time is not too painful. for a week after I broke my shoulder i had the old fashioned round the neck triangle sling .... fuuuuck that, it was like carrying a fkn millstone. now in the newfangled sling (hopefully only a few more days, then 2 months of physio) - new sling is for sure better, but it still gets exhausting carrying your own arm’s dead weight esp in summer. last thing i want to do is put on my messenger-style crossbody bag for work now, I’m already carrying plenty ugh
― Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 17 September 2019 04:45 (five years ago)
in some ways the worst part of shoulder surgery recovery for me was feeling that I couldn't wash myself properly, not being able to use one arm
the whole process felt like it went by quickly though, thinking back on it
― Dan S, Tuesday, 17 September 2019 04:49 (five years ago)
er sorry not "Cast"... sling and brace! luckily no cast for me. Slings do COMPLETELY suck though. I'm not looking forward to PT. Also: not carrying a backpack in new york is like leaving home without pants. what the fuck am i supposed to do without a water bottle in this city?
― Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Tuesday, 17 September 2019 05:00 (five years ago)
xp to dan: i washed my right armpit with my left arm today and it felt like a tangible if small victory
― Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Tuesday, 17 September 2019 05:01 (five years ago)
lol I remember that experience
― Dan S, Tuesday, 17 September 2019 05:06 (five years ago)
health & healing, forkson sneezing: broke a couple of ribs earlier this year, & for months had to stand and brace myself against a doorframe if I felt a sneeze coming on

on here, yes! but at work most of the people I encounter are 17-23 y/o and I am some sort of creature from before the dawn of time.
― mfktz (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Tuesday, 17 September 2019 06:12 (five years ago)
you are at the best age seriously
― Dan S, Tuesday, 17 September 2019 06:23 (five years ago)
I was at a bat mitzvah party at the w/e and I couldn't: a) dance, bcs the music was aimed at 13 y/o girls and I didnt know any of the tunes, or b) talk to people, bcs I can't hear what they're saying in that atmosphere. So I end up sitting alone with a drink, which is fine by me, but looks rather rude. Or as if I'm having a terrible time.
― fetter, Tuesday, 17 September 2019 07:06 (five years ago)
so i might have nerve damage to my left foot which is fun

It's been a year for me for sure. More annoying random pains, then there was the bilateral hernia surgery, some physical therapy starting next week, a sleep study in a month's time...none of it really surprising but truly, I'm not young anymore. 18 months to 50!
― Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 18 September 2019 02:05 (five years ago)
"Ric Ocasek was 75? Damn! That must mean, what, he was 50 when Heartbeat City came out? That can't be right?"
"1984 was 35 years ago."

I felt like I was dying yesterday after a bad combination of foods/ales/wine/brandy/prescription drugs. I was a sweaty mess and passing blood and having ocular migraines. When people say hangovers become much deathly feeling in your 40's they aren't kidding. The worst thing is I didn't even get massively pissed, just slightly overdid it. Feel so much better today and not taking my good health for granted - have already walked 3.5 miles and am pledging to stay within my tried + tested lol safe limits on boozing in future.
