I for one would like to congratulate our twitter overlords for overthrowing the government of iran.

There is another twiterrer (tweeter?) that does that except for all tweets with the word "cunt". And he even directed it at me so I was massively confused at seeing the exact same msg from two people.

Anyone using Tweetdeck FOR IPHONE?

baaderonixx, Thursday, 18 June 2009 08:28 (sixteen years ago)

^ Just installing it now. (Haven't upgraded to 3.0 yet, either. Because I am OLD-SKOOL.)

i'm reading the "trending topics" posts marked #YourGhettoWhen. it's somewhere between jeff foxworthy and "stuff white people like."

iPhone TweetDeck: initially confusing, quickly great. Syncing with the desktop version not quite as easy as it should be.

a tiny, faltering megaphone (grimly fiendish), Thursday, 18 June 2009 10:02 (sixteen years ago)

I'm not understanding the 'mark as seen' icon - it doesn't seem to do anything. Actually even the desktop version never seemed to remembered what I have cleared as seen.

baaderonixx, Thursday, 18 June 2009 10:08 (sixteen years ago)

Hmm. I hit it once and it got rid of an annoying red number at the bottom of the screen :) I'll need to use it in practice to see if it's actually doing anything else.

Fuck's sake: I just sent an incredibly tedious @ reply in which I mentioned panini, and it's been RTd by Sandvich, which appears to be the most pointless bot ever. Twitter will eat itself ...

Major LOLs thanks to GOP Twitter users:

Earlier today, Rep. Peter Hoekstra (R-MI) put up this astonishing post on Twitter, likening the oppression of the Iranian people to the plight of House Republicans:

Iranian twitter activity similar to what we did in House last year when Republicans were shut down in the House.
In the hours since, the Twitter community has responded -- with massive heckling. Here's just a small sample of some of the best ones:

ArjunJaikumar @petehoekstra i spilled some lukewarm coffee on myself just now, which is somewhat analogous to being boiled in oil

chrisbaskind @petehoekstra My neighbor stopped me to talk today. Now I know what it is like to be questioned by the Basij!

luckbfern @petehoekstra I stand in solidarity with the oppressed rich white men of Repub Party in the House. #GOPfail Allah Akbar!

aciolino @petehoekstra Today I poked my finger on a hanger. Now I know what all those aborted babies go through.

ceedub7 @petehoekstra I got a splinter in my hand today. Felt just like Jesus getting nailed to the cross.

netw3rk @petehoekstra Someone walked in on me while I was in the bathroom. Reminded me of Pearl Harbor.

MattOrtega Walked out onto Constitution Ave in D.C. and was almost hit by a taxi. Reminded me of Tienanmen Square.

tharodge @petehoekstra maybe now is a good time to reconsider whether you are ready for national politics?

TahirDuckett @petehoekstra ran through the sprinklers this morning, claimed solidarity with victims of Hurricane Katrina

paganmist @petehoekstra Had to move all my stuff to a new office w/o a corner view. Now i know what the Trail of Tears was like. #GOPfail

http://twitter.com/David_Miliband is pretty obviously fake but do a Google News search on Michael Jackson and Miliband to see the Guardian, Mail, Mirror, PA et al all reporting the foreign secretary's tearful tribute. Jeez.

Alba, Friday, 26 June 2009 08:10 (sixteen years ago)

I couldn't believe that (the reporting that is) when I saw it. Will this lead to Milband having to deny that it was his twitter but that, yes, of course, Michale Jackson, was the king of pop?
