Animated Decker pilot has been unpaywalled: https://www.adultswim.com/videos/decker/the-animated-adventures-of-jack-decker-pilot

animating Tim's mangled line readings is funny, but it could also be a good gag if they obviously edit his audio around them in any theoretical future episodes

Neil Hamburger calling in to Office Hours with COVID tips back in June.

three weeks pass...

In Tim's IG stories today someone asked about the future of OCatC and he suggested that Adult Swim was less than enthusiastic about the show... which seems crazy right?

Jersey Al (Albert R. Broccoli), Saturday, 5 September 2020 05:07 (four years ago) link

Well AS has so much other great content rn so

imago, Saturday, 5 September 2020 06:55 (four years ago) link

Noticed that in the stories too. Made me curious as well. Decker question had the same exact answer.

Evan, Saturday, 5 September 2020 20:51 (four years ago) link

I don't really find it surprising. it's a show which could only appeal to total heads. not going to win over many people flicking between channels. the youtube episodes don't even do particularly spectacular numbers. they have to fundraise to make the Oscar special every year. seems very much like a labour of love from them rather than something adult swim is keen for them to keep making

rascal clobber (jim in vancouver), Saturday, 5 September 2020 20:56 (four years ago) link

Tim always seems to have a chip on his shoulder when it comes to stuff like this so who knows. You’d think Adult Swim would let him do whatever he wants by now.

frogbs, Saturday, 5 September 2020 23:10 (four years ago) link

well, there's all those production expenses to keep in mind

Karl Malone, Sunday, 6 September 2020 00:39 (four years ago) link

Was gonna say, if AS decides not to proceed with On Cinema, I have a full jar of change that I'm willing to donate to a couple seasons' worth of production costs.

Don't be such an idot. (Old Lunch), Sunday, 6 September 2020 01:09 (four years ago) link

Karl Malone, Sunday, 6 September 2020 01:20 (four years ago) link

right now they're definitely just blowing cool air on it

Karl Malone, Sunday, 6 September 2020 01:20 (four years ago) link

last i checked, tim's production company produces quite a few shows for adult swim, so i'd imagine his low-budget passion project isn't going to get the axe any time soon

Ryan Phillippe (Crash, Cruel Intentions, Gosford Park, ex-husband of Reese Witherspoon) is apparently a deep On Cinema head?

Jersey Al (Albert R. Broccoli), Sunday, 4 October 2020 03:24 (four years ago) link

He was a guest on Tim's podcast, and I think they mentioned that he partially funded one of the Oscar specials(?)

Hans Holbein (Chinchilla Volapük), Sunday, 4 October 2020 04:03 (four years ago) link

That is amazing, I had no idea.

Jersey Al (Albert R. Broccoli), Sunday, 4 October 2020 04:09 (four years ago) link

Wooow. My gf was watching Phillipe's hilariously uber-shitty Shooter tv series and I swear I kept thinking 'this is exactly like Decker minus the self-awareness' but maybe I had him all wrong. Might have to revisit.

OrificeMax (Old Lunch), Sunday, 4 October 2020 04:17 (four years ago) link

I mean

The show stars Ryan Phillippe in the lead role of Bob Lee Swagger, a retired U.S. Marine Corps sniper living in seclusion who is coaxed back into action after learning of a plot to kill the President.

How could I have been so blind

you know for years I thought Tim was supposed to be Trump but now I realize he's Don Jr.

frogbs, Wednesday, 21 October 2020 16:37 (four years ago) link

I recall an interview where the interviewer noted that Tim looked Trump-y in season 11, and Tim responded that the look was more like Eric Trump

I enjoyed this but it seemed kind of an empty exercise w/o the rub of an unwitting audience...would love to see this set in some small podunk room seeded w/just enough Tim fans to prevent him from getting run off the stage.

error prone wolf syndicate (Hadrian VIII), Saturday, 24 October 2020 14:47 (four years ago) link

lost my shit when he brought up mike huckabee

mellon collie and the infinite bradness (BradNelson), Saturday, 24 October 2020 14:48 (four years ago) link

Neil Hamburger is so ott that it doesn't matter anymore, he's still funny, but those earliest shows were so good

error prone wolf syndicate (Hadrian VIII), Saturday, 24 October 2020 14:48 (four years ago) link

really good arkansas accent impersonation too

president of my cat (Karl Malone), Saturday, 24 October 2020 14:49 (four years ago) link

Honestly I didn’t think the Neil Hamburger thing would work with an audience that was in on the joke but it was probably the funniest live show I ever saw

frogbs, Saturday, 24 October 2020 14:50 (four years ago) link

yeah he's still so good

error prone wolf syndicate (Hadrian VIII), Saturday, 24 October 2020 14:52 (four years ago) link

Wish those clips of Neil Hamburger on Kimmel were still up and around. It's so great to see both the large studio audience and much of the celebrity panel in a state of befuddled disgust.

I didn't notice Tim's fly was down until he was talking about Huckabee, which was kinda perfect

Un-fooled and placid (sic), Sunday, 25 October 2020 01:29 (four years ago) link

really good arkansas accent impersonation too

I mean, when you talk about how great his Jack and his Bobby impressions are, I think he really needs to start adding "Mike" to the mix.

I was just sitting on the couch, going "he nailed it," over and over.

pplains, Sunday, 25 October 2020 03:16 (four years ago) link

It’s unbelievable, but you gotta hand it to him!

president of my cat (Karl Malone), Sunday, 25 October 2020 03:18 (four years ago) link
