First, why didn't it just put me on hold the first two times, after telling me wait times were unusually long? Why just automatically disconnect and not give me the option to simply wait on hold as long as it takes?
My guess is that sometimes these places have a limit on how many lines they can handle "on hold" at once and on the third time you managed to squeeze in before the limit. I'm guessing the first two times all of the "hold" lines were taken, so it just dumped you off instead.

My company, actually not following the prompts or entering info slows things down more cos it dumps the customer into a default queue which may or may not be right dept, and then all of the identification and authentication has to start from scratch, which adds 2 minutes to the call.
But our phone menus tend to be more streamlined than the bullshit CC companies use

A couple of hours later I try again. I go through the whole process, expecting the worst, but instead of getting hung up on I make it to the hold mark again, once again with the automated warning that it could be at least 15 minutes. I get comfortable for another 30+ minutes on the phone ... but then a representative gets on the phone with me in, like, 30 seconds!Get your act together, hold-time robots!

people who waffle on whether something is a 'requirement' vs a 'guideline'.
when I assess my class's progress, there are specifically labeled days in the schedule where I *have* to check in with my coach and tell him how the learners are doing, including if anybody needs remedial assistance. The coach approaches us for the info on that specific day, and if we don't supply it, we get pinged incessantly until we do. It's this long arduous detailed process with documentation as well.
So today - I find an error in the progress report schedule (it's written for 11 days instead of 12), so I ask him how to adjust the schedule so that I'm reporting him the progress on the right date, and he says "ehh it's up to you, this is more of a guideline than a hard fast rule".
so it's a hard fast rule when you're hounding me for this information on the specified date, but when I ask you for guidance due to an error you made in the schedule, now it's "up to me", so I should 'figure it out'?

he’s just hounding you because that’s what bosses do. and when there’s a hiccup in the system he’s pushing responsibility down the ladder because that’s also what bosses do. sorry, i meant “empowering you to make decisions”

my neighbors are a couple of older lesbian hippie-ish people. they have installed a very small hot tub on their very small deck. our houses are like 12 ft wide and the deck is about as deep, or less. they like to use it every morning while i am still asleep, or at night when i am trying to read. so i can hear them talk and my one neighbor, most of what she says and what i can hear is "yeah. yeahhh." she loves to say yeah! i can often hear her "yeah"ing through the walls of my house. in addition to someone playing bongos or her son singing bad 90s songs and playing guitar when he comes over. wednesday morning they were out and i *believe* they were playing the pure moods compilation from the 90s. the one that has enya on it and some other songs that they would like. i had orinoco flow in my head all day. but the worst is i think the hot tub has some kind of beeping alarm on it that they can't hear (old?) and i can? i want to not have neighbors i'm sorry i'm a bad person

defrosted fridge to hold xmas food.Mainly just unplugged it and then cleaned out the body and freezr compartment. Just found out that the thermometer which i didn;t consciously touch got reset which was possibly not connected to defrosting process and may have been knocked at a different time.I don't have a build up of ice in the freezer which could be down to the thing just being defrosted and the contents do seem to be pretty solid. But does that mean I should just throw out everything and be safe or ignore it and risk something in future.Shit ex-pensive mistake possibly.

Management company not getting it together to have communal nin enclosure emptied before Xmas so it is overloaded like totally. I didn't even try to open the door this morning since I could see through the slatted door how high things were piling inside. Should be pretty obvious that Xmas is going to mean more rubbish generated than normal. I'm seeing boxes from gifts which I would have kept had that been me in the enclosure. Not sure when the place is going to be able to be emptied now, traditional emptying day is Friday so would be a problem can they keep that going for another 2 weeks? We have a storm due today as well , high wind so wondering if all of that stuff is going to be left where it is anyway.Idiots next door left teh street door unlocked overnight too.Bah humbug

How do single people organise fridges and freezers. I'm stuck with an undercounter fridge with small freezer copmpartment. Is that ever adequate for anybody who needs to cook at home. NOt sure how else to organise since i have shelving units in a lot of places.BUT always left wanting to have more space in both compartments especially right now.THink things might be more complicated still which is a pain.

I hate that headphones never give any sign or warning before they die, they just... stop working. Seemingly at the most obnoxious time. Walked to the post office today and stood in line for forty-five minutes, listening to music the whole time with no issue. But, somehow, in the three minutes I was actually at the window checking out, I moved in exactly the right way, apparently, that the right channel just died, never to be revived.

This is a really irrational one: my housemate has a playlist with most of Exile on Main Street on it, along with a bunch of other stuff by different artists. I love Exile on Main Street. A year and a half ago, before moving into this house, I would have said it was my favorite album. But I want to listen to my favorite album on my own schedule, and in the right order, and not too often, and when I have time to actually listen. I don't want to be constantly hearing it broken up and rearranged and used as background music while people are hanging out. And hearing it so much and in the wrong way is making me not want to listen to it at all anymore, which makes me sad and also (as per the thread title) irrationally angry.

a housemate in my student days had an LP of Yellow Submarine, it had a skip on All You Need Is Love where it sounded like they were chanting "love is over" - we did lots of drugs and waking up to this was not very good for my mental health. I was never a fan of the song, but it still seems malevolent to this day.

Drag of setting up new tv when there's no manual included beyond a single sheet showing how to put screws in the stand.& it's refusing to connect to Internet to download user agreement so won't set up everything properly. So finding way to link to hdmi cable which carries signal is a chore.Do people still use terrestrial tv channels anywhere. Priority was to try to set up channels which was what screen spent time saying.Got it at least partially done now.But would be a lot easier with a physical.manual included.

yes, everywhere. vastly more concentrated viewing is still done of linear broadcasts than nearly every pick-and-choose online option.

facebook's way it gives you a list of suggestions of people or things any time you type any word of 3 letters or more, and moves the screen to accommodate said list making it very easy to link in a random person / organisation.

I blame Apple for the lack of instructions. The pro forma Quick Start guide is all I expect from any electronics these days, and while I can usually figure things out, since they're typically not much more elaborate than "plug in, turn on, that's all it takes!" if anything goes wrong it's hard to troubleshoot.
Over the summer we got these two cheap little red Ikea side tables to put drinks on by a firepit, and they each came with a 35 page instruction booklet that was essentially "wipe dry and store when not in use" in three dozen languages.

when u mute someone in MS Teams cos they're unmuted, breathing heavily, have background sounds going haywire, and they don't respond to you asking them to mute their phone.
and then after u mute them, they unmute themselves and the noise resumes....so you mute them again, and they unmute themselves.

Got a lens for the phone camera for Christmas. No directions! Just either (a.) scan the QR code or (b.) break off the USB drive from the card inside the box and stick it inside your computer.
But it was Christmas morning, and I just wanted to quietly read the instructions without having to pull out my Samsung Android Galaxy?
I got the same kind of lens from Wish a year ago for like a buck. Except those didn't come with a USB drive inside.
When I did try out the USB, it opened Spotify and just left it hanging there?

12 quid for a cd is ok, 12 + 20% + 1.50 postage and it's getting ridiculous.
7.99 for digital version, => 9.58
