Lol mookieproof. Believe she recommended a Soho Crime novel set in Alaska which I liked, maybe try that instead.

not just today but also so many times over the ilx years, In Orbit has an open mind and is patient and a model of internet behavior that i aspire to

Yeah, there's a number of ilxors that I've reconsidered because in orbit likes them.

millionthed

one of the best memories in my life is driving to baltimore with in orbit and listening to the entire debut robyn album in the car with her

Li'l Brexit (Tracer Hand), Thursday, 7 January 2021 10:09 (three years ago) link

there was another ilxor in the car too.. was it paul eater??

Li'l Brexit (Tracer Hand), Thursday, 7 January 2021 10:10 (three years ago) link

I have sadly never heard of In Orbit, but I have *always* loved Tracer Hand !!

the pinefox, Thursday, 7 January 2021 10:13 (three years ago) link

both In Orbit and Tracer Hand are treasures

Aw you guyzzzz...thank you, Karl, for thinking of me. I like you and it was a hard day for everyone, so it was easy to be gentle. Normally belligerence is my (lazy) natural state but I have an irl role model for good humor and kindness who I'm trying to emulate. Maybe it's working?

Tracer!!! The other ilxors in that car were Paul Eater ahd g33ta!!!! That trip was legendary for so many reasons (and I have pics). g33ta was like, here, listen to this cool album I just discovered and the rest was history.

Yeah, there's a number of ilxors that I've reconsidered because in orbit likes them.

loooool <3 This may also be because I stay off ilm so I don't see 66% of whatever foolishness is going on.

Let's all hang out soon (in 2022)? Shout out to Ms Mac especially RIP Hot Bird

Ima Gardener (in orbit), Thursday, 7 January 2021 14:50 (three years ago) link

i'm blushing you guys

Li'l Brexit (Tracer Hand), Thursday, 7 January 2021 14:52 (three years ago) link

lol i must have forgotten g33ta because she has such a shy, retiring personality

Li'l Brexit (Tracer Hand), Thursday, 7 January 2021 14:53 (three years ago) link

Yes that must be it. Who did you think brought the robyn?!

Iirc Paul is such a gentle, reasonable person, I think he thought the rest of us were crazy but was willing to go along with it to an extent <3 <3

Ima Gardener (in orbit), Thursday, 7 January 2021 15:00 (three years ago) link

yes. a kind of generous, amused indulgence.

GAH I WANT TO SEE YOU GUYS AGAIN.

I met Paul Eater at my sole NYCFAP many years ago and he stuck me as a v sweet dude. I also met Yancey the same night!

I think you know the matchless IO under their sinister name, PF.

Piedie Gimbel, Thursday, 7 January 2021 17:29 (three years ago) link

in orbit and tracer are both great and have been very kind to me, which i appreciate :)

dean bad (map), Thursday, 7 January 2021 17:42 (three years ago) link

lol yes, PF will probably remember me better as Pythy.

Ima Gardener (in orbit), Thursday, 7 January 2021 17:42 (three years ago) link

Thank you, J Redd, that's nice of you to say even after I ignored or forgot so many photoshop requests. I think I became a much better ILXor years ago thanks to DJP, who once advised the young Rock Hardy: "Shut the fuck up." That may sound facetious, but it was the best advice I could have gotten, delivered in the best way. I thought about it all day long while reading the US Politics thread and not posting to it. Very few of the thoughts in my head need to come out.

I'm also in the In Orbit and Tracer Hand fan groups.

The politics thread, as much as I roll eyes at doomposting, keeps me sane.

I was thinking this yesterday, hard to imagine this last year especially w/o its shelter

It does for me as well, I just don't have anything to add to it. xp

Politics threads and is ilk one hand can be, um, triggering but on the other functions as a much better aggregator w/ usually trenchant commentary on what the heck is going on. Beats binge watching certain networks for one thing

Its ilk on the one hand

That reminds me, even if I only watch those from afar, I actually came to appreciate the periodic "Good morning!"s during dark years.

I do too, Alfred. Especially when you do it at really hilarious times, like yesterday at 4:30 pm lol

Indeed.

I want to say big ups to pomenitul. thanks for the webmail, requested that from my former institution because i'm technically "faculty" until late May.

This says it...on the whole I have more faith in the collective editorial judgment of you knuckleheads than any one source.

early-Woolf semantic prosody (Hadrian VIII), Thursday, 7 January 2021 22:20 (three years ago) link

though it’s evidently done nothing for my typos

early-Woolf semantic prosody (Hadrian VIII), Thursday, 7 January 2021 22:22 (three years ago) link

literally during busier days in past years I used to scroll this thread only cos I would just look at the Tweets to get a summary of what happened that day until I could get home and browse on my own longer.

even now I find it easier to cull recent developments in this thread than on the internet solo

Looking for Cape Penis house (Neanderthal), Thursday, 7 January 2021 22:24 (three years ago) link

This thread or the other one?

Ha. It’s always amazing to me on something like Friendbook where one can immediately edit one’s posts and still see lots of typos.

I also use the politics thread for the same purpose, Neanderthal. I don't really use Twitter, and I don't really use Facebook, so other than my begrudging subscription to the Times and reading of more lefty websites, the ILX politics thread is it.
