I met Paul Eater at my sole NYCFAP many years ago and he stuck me as a v sweet dude. I also met Yancey the same night!

I think you know the matchless IO under their sinister name, PF.

in orbit and tracer are both great and have been very kind to me, which i appreciate :)

dean bad (map), Thursday, 7 January 2021 17:42 (three years ago) link

lol yes, PF will probably remember me better as Pythy.

Ima Gardener (in orbit), Thursday, 7 January 2021 17:42 (three years ago) link

Thank you, J Redd, that's nice of you to say even after I ignored or forgot so many photoshop requests. I think I became a much better ILXor years ago thanks to DJP, who once advised the young Rock Hardy: "Shut the fuck up." That may sound facetious, but it was the best advice I could have gotten, delivered in the best way. I thought about it all day long while reading the US Politics thread and not posting to it. Very few of the thoughts in my head need to come out.

I'm also in the In Orbit and Tracer Hand fan groups.

The politics thread, as much as I roll eyes at doomposting, keeps me sane.

I was thinking this yesterday, hard to imagine this last year especially w/o its shelter

early-Woolf semantic prosody (Hadrian VIII), Thursday, 7 January 2021 18:50 (three years ago) link

It does for me as well, I just don't have anything to add to it. xp

the lanyard person is now on admin leave, per his company. lol

bummer, he was always good on the "Confusing Pop Anthropology Plot Point from "Gilligan's Island" and elsewhere" thread

early-Woolf semantic prosody (Hadrian VIII), Thursday, 7 January 2021 19:11 (three years ago) link

lol i was wondering why this didn't post in the appropriate therad

Politics threads and is ilk one hand can be, um, triggering but on the other functions as a much better aggregator w/ usually trenchant commentary on what the heck is going on. Beats binge watching certain networks for one thing

Its ilk on the one hand

Ugh, I hate it when I get ilk on my hand

cilantro vs. wade (Ye Mad Puffin), Thursday, 7 January 2021 20:42 (three years ago) link

it’s spelled “ilx” afaik

The politics thread, as much as I roll eyes at doomposting, keeps me sane.

That reminds me, even if I only watch those from afar, I actually came to appreciate the periodic "Good morning!"s during dark years.

anatol_merklich, Thursday, 7 January 2021 21:23 (three years ago) link

I do too, Alfred. Especially when you do it at really hilarious times, like yesterday at 4:30 pm lol

Last night’s at 11:59 pm was the peak imo.

pomenitul, Thursday, 7 January 2021 21:34 (three years ago) link

Timing is, etc.

Y'all will have noticed since November 2018 I dropped a letter from the greeting.

Indeed.

pomenitul, Thursday, 7 January 2021 21:37 (three years ago) link

I want to say big ups to pomenitul. thanks for the webmail, requested that from my former institution because i'm technically "faculty" until late May.

Pere Legume (the table is the table), Thursday, 7 January 2021 21:46 (three years ago) link

My pleasure. :)

This says it...on the whole I have more faith in the collective editorial judgment of you knuckleheads than any one source.

though it’s evidently done nothing for my typos

early-Woolf semantic prosody (Hadrian VIII), Thursday, 7 January 2021 22:22 (three years ago) link

literally during busier days in past years I used to scroll this thread only cos I would just look at the Tweets to get a summary of what happened that day until I could get home and browse on my own longer.

even now I find it easier to cull recent developments in this thread than on the internet solo

Looking for Cape Penis house (Neanderthal), Thursday, 7 January 2021 22:24 (three years ago) link

This thread or the other one?

Ha. It’s always amazing to me on something like Friendbook where one can immediately edit one’s posts and still see lots of typos.

I also use the politics thread for the same purpose, Neanderthal. I don't really use Twitter, and I don't really use Facebook, so other than my begrudging subscription to the Times and reading of more lefty websites, the ILX politics thread is it.

Pere Legume (the table is the table), Thursday, 7 January 2021 22:36 (three years ago) link

Facebook is great for politics if you want to learn only misinfo, urban myths and outdated info. so it's better you don't!

Looking for Cape Penis house (Neanderthal), Thursday, 7 January 2021 22:39 (three years ago) link

Fair enough, but I also it to keep track of certain musicans, mostly jazz, as well as some beloved ex-IlXors and certain other people one degree of separation from this borad who were never on it.

Next Time Might Be Hammer Time (James Redd and the Blecchs), Thursday, 7 January 2021 22:41 (three years ago) link

oh yea i use it for connecting w/ my friends. prior to yesterday, I hadn't posted anything political on it in over a month.

Looking for Cape Penis house (Neanderthal), Thursday, 7 January 2021 22:43 (three years ago) link

well ok "anything" is a stretch and part of that is cos I was banned

Looking for Cape Penis house (Neanderthal), Thursday, 7 January 2021 22:43 (three years ago) link

I use the Newsfeed Eradicator Chrome extension. I post music and weird philosophy stuff and poetry stuff, and that's it. I hardly ever engage in any commenting, etc.

I met Paul Eater at least once or twice - probably over 15 years ago.

In Orbit was on Sinister and called Pythy? I'm afraid I don't think I remember a Pythy.

emily <3 thank you. you're a gem, too.
