Another something nice about ILX in general, not any specific poster

This place has remained comparatively unblemished and more or less civil, with attentive modding and long institutional memory, in an internet social landscape that has gone through so many changes in the last 20 years. Migrations to and from various platforms have affected ILX but the forum continues to offer what it has always offered: text based chat. No avatars, no upvoting, no deleting or editing. I'm glad you're still here, borad.

Bee OK's love of music is inspiring. I'm not at all a Daft Punk fan, but the way that poll was done was inspiring.

I am sure there are historical reasons for no edit button, I'm just unaware of them.

Not being able to scrub one's own history is an inducement to more civil posting (I hope).

Makes sense. I suppose the occasional poorly worded post is a small price to pay.

edit buttons allow the OP to change what they originally said and make the respondent look like they overreacted unless they clearly show an edit was made and/or allow you to see what the original post said.

but even then lots of people read fast and don't notice a post that said "Edit" next to it, so people can see you overreact to your post and edit theirs to make you look unhinged and force you to explain "uhh that's not what it said originally, see where it says 'edit'?"
