"or surgery too would be a good medicine"

i wish that this movie just went on and on and on, i loved it so much. i thought to myself, a ha! they're still making these kind of movies. and we get to see it, we get to live in a time when classic movies are being made. imagine what it would be like for our grandparents to grow up when gone with the wind and movies of that stature were being made. well now here we are, alive and well, listening- getting to see jack and the giant slayer

STOCK FIST-PUMPER BRAD (BradNelson), Monday, 3 January 2022 04:03 (three years ago)

i’m gonna say… zero bags of popcorn, because i’m gonna say let’s take toto’s old basket and fill that with popcorn and eat out of the basket, which is essentially five bags of popcorn, i loved this movie

STOCK FIST-PUMPER BRAD (BradNelson), Monday, 3 January 2022 04:18 (three years ago)

all right, well if the academy's watching, let them know that we believe that jonathan winters deserves a posthumous academy award for his role in smurfs 2

STOCK FIST-PUMPER BRAD (BradNelson), Monday, 3 January 2022 22:41 (three years ago)

i give it zero bags of popcorn. i would say if you've ever seen the old disney movie the black hole, that's what this movie is in terms of bags of popcorn, it's a black hole that's sucked all of the popcorn out of the world into the center of the earth, into a great void

STOCK FIST-PUMPER BRAD (BradNelson), Tuesday, 4 January 2022 00:59 (three years ago)

mark is the mvp of the oscar specials for sure, everything he does is hilarious

O S C E R

STOCK FIST-PUMPER BRAD (BradNelson), Friday, 7 January 2022 02:25 (three years ago)

Just finished the 5th Oscar special and Mark’s emergency was one of the funniest thing they have ever done.

His role as a waiter in season 9 (or was it 8) kills me as well. “PUT IT ON THE TABLE”.

hrep (H.P), Friday, 7 January 2022 02:37 (three years ago)

yeah I've rewatched that bit a few times, it's amazing. I feel like had I saw that live I might've actually been fooled for a few seconds that something happened to Mark

frogbs, Friday, 7 January 2022 03:01 (three years ago)

according to the testimony i saw on the trial of tim heidecker, i believe something did happen to Mark

Karl Malone, Friday, 7 January 2022 16:05 (three years ago)

Echoing everyone, Mark is their secret weapon.

A Pile of Ants (Boring, Maryland), Friday, 7 January 2022 16:15 (three years ago)

i watched his first appearance on the 2nd oscar special last night and the debut of mark's chaplin impersonation + tim belligerently telling him to talk had me rolling on the fucking floor

STOCK FIST-PUMPER BRAD (BradNelson), Friday, 7 January 2022 16:18 (three years ago)

mark's chaplin was absolutely perfect, straight out of the box

Karl Malone, Friday, 7 January 2022 16:21 (three years ago)

impersonating the Three Stooges one at a time is such a next-level bit. I love how every Oscar Special has at least one section where Tim can't hold it together and it always seems to involve Mark

frogbs, Friday, 7 January 2022 16:31 (three years ago)

also the fact that he's constantly slipping in and out of the WC Fields voice

frogbs, Friday, 7 January 2022 16:31 (three years ago)

i'm on season five, right in the middle of the jacksonhole storyline (hog shots!!!), and the funniest thing in the world is tim, legally blinded after getting into an accident on his (stationary) motorcycle, having the movie descriptions piped into an earpiece because he'd rather that than gregg read them, and of course this makes them far longer and more riddled with errors

STOCK FIST-PUMPER BRAD (BradNelson), Friday, 7 January 2022 19:31 (three years ago)

or in s5e7 when two minutes in tim says "thanks for watching" and the lights dim before they review any movies

STOCK FIST-PUMPER BRAD (BradNelson), Sunday, 9 January 2022 18:23 (three years ago)

just like george bush had dan quayle, richard nixon had spiro agnew, and dwight eisenhower had richard nixon, the great actors of our time need a supporting actor

c/ped from another site about the wrap party a couple days ago:

There was just a live Q&A for Hei Network annual subscribers with Tim, Gregg, Eric Notarnicola, Vera Drew, Andrew Porter, Justin Gaynor. It was a rare appearance by Gregg out of any character (though he was calling in from his car). Some of the things they covered:

They mentioned that a lot of the characterization in general comes from the wardrobes first. Gregg does some of the eBay buying for the Gregg character's wardrobe, and there may be a Glenn Beck-inspired look for Tim in the future. Tripp Spencer came from Gregg just deciding to get cornrows because his filming was done, and then needing to do more filming.

The Hei Network gives them a lot more freedom than Adult Swim, but also new stress of being the ones who have to decide what their budget limits are

The first season of Xposed is coming "very soon." Tim talked about how much he enjoyed the Xposed pilot and laughed crying watching it.

The 7 Minutes in Heaven idea is still going to be produced.

They have more ideas for Decker, but still don't own the rights for it. But they're going to eventually make what is essentially more Decker under the new name John Jacob Dennicker.

The HEI Points form was just written as a joke by Tim off the cuff for fun, and doesn't seem like it will have any impact on anything.

One of the plot ideas they had for when (the fictional) On Cinema was owned by Chaplin's was that Chaplin's would be purchased by an oil company, and as a result On Cinema would be filmed at a gas station to air on those mini video screens that play when you fill your car up at the gas pump.

Vera Drew's personal view is that neither the Tim nor Gregg characters actually watch any of the movies they "review."

Gregg mentioned that they did have an idea to definitively end the show at the end of season 10 in a way that there was "no coming back from." Eric Notarnicola did mention that he personally had an idea to make everyone die from Gregg's car in the Oscar special but he didn't run it past anyone.

Most of the show is done in two takes, but there are also a number of single takes. Most of Mr. America was shot in one take.

Gregg sometimes will get popcorn stuck in his throat while filming.

Vera mentioned wanting an On Cinema video game.

All of them talked about looking for more ways to make the whole On Cinema experience even more interactive with the fans than it is.

Tim filmed Popcorn Shuffle, and Tim edits most of Gregg's segments, because he likes editing as a hobby.

I think S7 is the high watermark but 10-12 have all been great. maybe even better actually but S7 is where you really got a sense of how far out and crazy this show could get

frogbs, Friday, 14 January 2022 17:12 (three years ago)

season 7 does have the birth of dekkar (thereby forever tipping the scales in how much the show is "about" movies), the dr. san forgiveness special, and the untimely death of actor/model tom cruise heidecker jr., it's up there

STOCK FIST-PUMPER BRAD (BradNelson), Friday, 14 January 2022 17:14 (three years ago)

also starts off with tim's ant-man pan

STOCK FIST-PUMPER BRAD (BradNelson), Friday, 14 January 2022 17:16 (three years ago)

the our cinema special is the most magnificently unwatchable two hours of the entire show, i'm lmao whenever part of the set inevitably falls over

STOCK FIST-PUMPER BRAD (BradNelson), Friday, 14 January 2022 17:19 (three years ago)

the dr san forgiveness special is incredible

Karl Malone, Friday, 14 January 2022 17:20 (three years ago)

S7 also has some of the best intro segments. in some ways that was my favorite running joke and I'm bummed the latest season doesn't have them. they just kept getting better and better.

frogbs, Friday, 14 January 2022 17:28 (three years ago)

seasons 7 & 8 are definitely where it turned from "this is really good" to "this one of my favorite things ever."

im sure i posted about it at the time, but the s11 "on defense" segments where tim was waving around guns and dry-firing them at himself and into the camera were some of the most unforgettably disturbing moments of the whole series for me. bc by that point the shows logic had been established where it was definitely not out of the realm of possibility that tims character would accidentally shoot himself in the head point blank on camera.

nobody like my rap (One Eye Open), Friday, 14 January 2022 17:29 (three years ago)

yeah it almost resembles a drama like Breaking Bad or the Sopranos more than a comedy show, there are very real stakes and it's constantly introducing new characters. that's what made the ending to the latest Oscar Special work so well, you legitimately didn't know if LaRue was gonna survive or if there would be major consequences for Gregg.

frogbs, Friday, 14 January 2022 18:43 (three years ago)

lmao when tim holds a contest for who's going to be donating skin to him

STOCK FIST-PUMPER BRAD (BradNelson), Saturday, 15 January 2022 01:00 (three years ago)

What’s incredible is that for the most part Gregg and Tim wing this.
