STOCK FIST-PUMPER BRAD (BradNelson), Monday, 28 March 2022 19:41 (three years ago)

rewatching the Toni Newman bit again and holy shit it's even more cringey than I remembered

frogbs, Monday, 28 March 2022 20:08 (three years ago)

whoaaaa 1:36:00 "does Tim know that you had a relationship with Axiom and Manuel?"

frogbs, Monday, 28 March 2022 20:11 (three years ago)

yeah theres a LOT of funny info in there

nobody like my rap (One Eye Open), Monday, 28 March 2022 20:40 (three years ago)

well the main thing was that chicks and Rock House really don't mix. but I knew that already

frogbs, Monday, 28 March 2022 20:43 (three years ago)

i liked learning about tim’s trip to japan

STOCK FIST-PUMPER BRAD (BradNelson), Monday, 28 March 2022 20:47 (three years ago)

what would he even be doing there!

(we all know)

STOCK FIST-PUMPER BRAD (BradNelson), Monday, 28 March 2022 20:47 (three years ago)

but yeah what makes Toni's character so great is how real she is, she's one of the few people in Tim's sphere who wasn't struggling/incompetent and just latched onto him for a job. so she's the one who's actually kind of honest about what Tim is really like and how he operates. whenever she's on now it's like going back to The Trial

frogbs, Monday, 28 March 2022 20:49 (three years ago)

oh and the bit about Wendy Kirby was really disturbing as well, I guess he really was grooming her as everyone feared, though it was hard to think too much about it since she immediately went into the RJs Shakes making his dick not work

frogbs, Monday, 28 March 2022 20:52 (three years ago)

just caught up, great stuff
scooby doo this years man of the match

nxd, Tuesday, 29 March 2022 00:42 (three years ago)

I’m not sure I totally got what was going on with the person dressed up as “Wendy Kirbys daddy” from the Valentine’s Day special but I loved it

nobody like my rap (One Eye Open), Tuesday, 29 March 2022 01:03 (three years ago)

Lol every Oscar Special has at least one bit that makes no sense. Last year it was the Minions mysteriously appearing everywhere

frogbs, Tuesday, 29 March 2022 01:15 (three years ago)

Anyway now that I think about it Toni revealing that she was having an affair with both members of Dekkar but Tim not catching it because he can’t fucking shut up for two seconds is one of the best jokes of the whole thing

frogbs, Tuesday, 29 March 2022 01:17 (three years ago)

A lot of great stuff. Mark calling in as Alfred Hitchcock was my favorite moment. However, I now agree with Gregg and don’t want to see Dekkar ever again.

Allen (etaeoe), Tuesday, 29 March 2022 02:00 (three years ago)

lol i completely missed the blondie segment during the livestream

aegis philbin (crüt), Tuesday, 29 March 2022 03:09 (three years ago)

"Desert Sun Tequilla" - both misspelled (on the bottle and the banner) and more or less named after Tim's music festival that killed numerous people.

All members of Dekkar remain seated for the duration of their performance.

The big QR code on Gregg's cardboard box leads one to VFA.expert.

"First Movie of the Year".

Tim's head floating in the darkness, with his eyeliner and flashlight, after the power went off reminded me of Arthur Frayn/Zardoz

Tim’s emotional reaction to the dog

― Otto Insurance (Boring, Maryland), Tuesday, March 29, 2022 8:31 AM (twelve minutes ago) bookmarkflaglink

hah yeah while the Scooby Doo was wandering around

Power of the Dog didn't actually have a dog in it btw

frogbs, Tuesday, 29 March 2022 13:53 (three years ago)

there was a dog in the film but it was not that dog and “the power of the dog” means something far less literal in the context of the film and tim getting it so wrong was on the order of gregg insisting that the wonka prequel is directed by tim burton (it’s not)

STOCK FIST-PUMPER BRAD (BradNelson), Tuesday, 29 March 2022 13:56 (three years ago)

the one line that lives in my head forever is "last year it was 'Oscars So White', this year it's 'Oscars so A through M'"

Otto Insurance (Boring, Maryland), Tuesday, 29 March 2022 16:49 (three years ago)

this dekkar performance - i knew they had it in them, but the way they're doing it. i'm proud

Karl Malone, Tuesday, 29 March 2022 22:41 (three years ago)

good decision for them all to stay seated

Karl Malone, Tuesday, 29 March 2022 22:56 (three years ago)

[Verse 1]
I'm like an empty bottle
Drained of everything left in my mind
Checking out life on the dark side
Riding down the road 'til the end of time

[Verse 2]
I'm like a broken lantern
Stuffed of everything good and light
Hanging 'round waiting for something
To pick me up or hang me dry

[Chorus]
Fill me up again
Fill me up again

[Solo]

[Chorus]

The tour that Tim gave in his little cart was so comically short... Like it would have been about as quick to walk.

Tim’s increasing sunburn throughout the special

Otto Insurance (Boring, Maryland), Wednesday, 30 March 2022 14:53 (three years ago)

that whole setup, with watching private therapy sessions on a big monitor with everyone on set watching together, expecting it to exonerate him, while also not even listening to what she was saying...incredible

Karl Malone, Wednesday, 30 March 2022 14:56 (three years ago)

this show is the master of characters whose very presence is hilarious. Manuel looking concerned, Joe looking bored, LaRue trying to look serious and tough. the mascots in the background. Gregg in everything he does. the Chaplin's Chili guy (Hank?) being on every special despite never really being given anything to do

frogbs, Thursday, 31 March 2022 02:37 (three years ago)

i'll prove to anybody here tonight what i can do sexually. be happy to do it. anybody here. that's a challenge right now. ...fuck that scooby-doo... anybody

flamenco drop (BradNelson), Thursday, 31 March 2022 13:37 (three years ago)

The way that Chaplin’s Chili is progressively diminished as a franchise in each special is one of my favorite small recurring gags. Also adds to the “trapped in hell" atmosphere—despite Tim commenting each year on how gross the chili is, they are always back the next year.

blatherskite, Thursday, 31 March 2022 14:26 (three years ago)

listening to Office Hours today it looks like Mark has Covid and Joe got sick (not Covid), which is why neither appeared. must've been some pretty fast n' furious rewriting taking place

that happened last year too, I think Pastor Lewis was supposed to factor into the plot but the actress was unvaxxed and wouldn't take a Covid test or something

frogbs, Thursday, 31 March 2022 19:43 (three years ago)

dang, i guess its lucky the whole special didnt get delayed or something

nobody like my rap (One Eye Open), Thursday, 31 March 2022 20:56 (three years ago)

yeah Tim was worried he might've gotten it from Mark. apparently Mark is asymptomatic, he didn't say what Joe has but did say "he'll be fine" so that's good

also apparently there was a huge downpour 12 hours after filming. I wonder what their contingency plan was, or if it was just "fuck it, it's SoCal"?

frogbs, Thursday, 31 March 2022 21:07 (three years ago)

i almost subscribed to the patreon but i noticed it renews at midnight on april 1 - gotta wait a few hours!
