Yeah, I guess that if I ever really do have COVID it'll become apparent soon enough, either through symptoms, or via LFT results, regardless of my throat swabbing ineptitude. I still have a sore throat, but nothing else, so I'm gradually hoping that I can blame a particularly crusty piece of bread that I ate in an inopportune manner last night.

So I finally got around to getting this covid thing everybody keeps talking about. This is actually pretty shitty.

Sorry. Welcome to the club.

Had a bit of a sore throat starting on Friday evening, did a rapid test on Saturday that came out positive. I was not too alarmed, because I have my three doses and most of my family got covid around Christmas and weren't very sick. Saturday evening I started getting a bit of a headache, that headache would increase in intensity and last 3 days (various pain relievers I had in the house did basically nothing for this headache as far as I can tell). Took Monday off from work. Woke up Tuesday with a really much worse sore throat (the kind that hurts when you breathe), decided to work anyway since at least my headache was gone. Today I woke up feeling really weak, my sore throat is still really bad and painful. Took another sick day. This sucks.
― silverfish, Wednesday, 13 April 2022 14:18 (three years ago)
My trajectory (and that of others I've heard with Omicron) was that the cold-like symptoms of headache and sore throat will resolve shortly and be replaced with severe fatigue, so you may be on your way. Hope you feel better soon.

just got over it; was very ill with severe cold symptoms for two full days, then moderate to mild symptoms since. but still testing positive 8 days later. all told, it was hardly the sickest I've ever been, so I think I got off easy.

Finefinemusic - I guess you managed to dine unscathed. Im curious what restaurant it was that you felt was worth it?(despite my paranoia, I’m very tempted to go to the wren)

I did dodge it, thankfully! I quite like the Wren, I wish it had been that. Birthday girl’s choice: Soulas. It was fine.

feeling pretty good today, but now having an episode of tinnitus. Don't remember ringing in my ears like this since going to loud concerts without ear plugs in my 20s.
― silverfish, Thursday, 14 April 2022 20:18 (three years ago)
i still have moderate tinnitus some two years on from my first bout with the vid. :( hope yours resolves soon.

I've had intense fatigue, headache, dry eyes and a scritchy throat last 48 hours but my RAT test came up negative. I'm not feeling any *worse*, I just want to sleep. I kind of wish it was posi because if its not spicy cough WTF is wrong with me?!

― flamenco drop (BradNelson), Sunday, 1 May 2022 14:11 (three years ago)
goddamn faint line
I had it this past week, courtesy of my youngest child. Thankfully, it was no worse than a mild cold. I got a couple days' isolation, which didn't suck but I started going stir crazy. Very grateful it wasn't worse.
― immodesty blaise (jimbeaux), Sunday, 1 May 2022 17:37 (three years ago)
ok NOW i'm covid-free
― flamenco drop (BradNelson), Monday, 2 May 2022 13:40 (three years ago)
How many days b/w first positive and this recent negative?
― Malevolent Arugula (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Monday, 2 May 2022 13:43 (three years ago)
my symptoms started last monday—thought they were just really bad allergies, but i tested and got a negative result (one of the many delightful features of the covid merry-go-round). my girlfriend, whose worst symptoms were sniffles, tested herself out of curiosity on wednesday, and was positive; i tested again, and so was i (i feel like i would've tested positive on tuesday as well)
so nearly a full week
― flamenco drop (BradNelson), Monday, 2 May 2022 13:56 (three years ago)
Heh, something very similar happened in my household except my daughter tested positive but I never did. So bad allergies plus “regular” cold superinfection for me, I think.
― Wile E. Is President (James Redd and the Blecchs), Monday, 2 May 2022 14:28 (three years ago)
Welp, I finally caught it. Had a little earache on the flight home from Seattle which turned into tinnitus by bedtime. Didn’t think that was a symptom, didn’t even cross my mind - thought it was just an elevation thing. Woke up yesterday AM with chills and snot, and I was like, “uh-oh.” RAT was instantly positive. The timing was good - it would have been a difficult and expensive proposition to stay if I had become symptomatic while I was there - but I wish I’d tested on my return so I didn’t sleep with Mrs HD that night. I think I caught it at home on the weekend and it gestated. Symptoms are intermittently awful. On the up side I’m salaried and with some WFH options, so that’s ok. Once the brain fog and achybones lift. Blech.

Blech.You rang?
― Johnny Thunderwords (James Redd and the Blecchs), Friday, 6 May 2022 20:39 (three years ago)
Sorry. And sorry you got the rona as well.
After a good 36-hour sleep punctuated by intermittent brief waking moments, I’m doing a lot better today! Was able to put my isolation to good use & play-test a bunch of singles I’d been sitting on for a while. I don’t feel good, by any stretch, but I no longer feel as though every minute is a year.
― war mice (hardcore dilettante), Sunday, 8 May 2022 01:57 (three years ago)
I finally got it a week or so ago (vaxxed and 1 boost in Dec). Like a mild cold - two days of sore throat, muscle aches, and runny nose (runny nose for 3), but less bad for each compared to my typical cold. Feel fine now and will test again Monday to see if I should return to work.
― nickn, Sunday, 8 May 2022 07:27 (three years ago)
symptoms started appearing on Tuesday night: sore throat, small cough, tested negative
tested again on Friday, tested positive
Sunday now and I'm mostly symptom-free except for a small on-off fever, throat still a BIT itchy and phlegmy, and most annoyingly, a reduced sense of smell and taste
for those of you who had similar symptoms/timeline to mine, how long did it take you to regain your smell/taste? I know everyone's different and it's a bit soon to get impatient but still, just curious
― Murgatroid, Sunday, 8 May 2022 20:38 (three years ago)
Anyone else experiencing fatigue and aching legs after covid? I had it around 21 April, with sore throat, hoarse voice and feeling drained. Most symptoms are now gone - but the fatigue is persisting.
― Luna Schlosser, Sunday, 8 May 2022 21:07 (three years ago)
Idk if what I had a couple months ago was covid or not, but I definitely had a period of intense fatigue after being sick with something. It seems to be getting better, but I still feel more easily wiped out by exertion than normal. Not aching legs exactly, but I often feel my tiredness in my legs, as if I've been hiking.
My cousin was also sick with something recently, tested negative for covid, but has been dealing with severe fatigue since then. And she normally has a ton of energy, bikes everywhere in winter, works out a lot, so the contrast is pretty striking. She also seems to be getting better but slowly.

did your wife ever end up testing positive after panera bread btw?
― Tracer Hand, Tuesday, 10 May 2022 13:20 (three years ago)
tbh I have no idea how I dodged Omicron, I guess this was just a matter of time
what really sucks is that I was supposed to go to Boston tomorrow to see my brother, it was gonna be my first actual vacation since this whole thing started. great timing huh?
so far just feels like a mild flu. not bad, just kinda annoying
I think that was in February 2020, they did have Covid tests quite yet. I'm surprised someone remembers :)
― frogbs, Tuesday, 10 May 2022 13:22 (three years ago)
feel better frogsanyone with new torso aches? I've had an ache since January i can't explain. my legs have been good though. walking is the only time i forget the ache.
