#40 in 77 guesses, I think I don't care enough about getting the answer as quickly as possible, because I generally start with categorical type words or really common words just to have more blanks filled in, to have a better sense of the text? Anyway now i am hungry

86 guesses, had some idea it was about food but didn't get dessert until bean then pie.

It's too satisfying to fill in the would could should were etc. filler words to really go for the low numbers.

exactly! This is probably why our results tend to be in the same range (except for when you totally get it and I am too dense). I started guessing food related stuff when I guessed "French" and there were significant results. Like, what are significant things that came from France? ... food

#40 in 56 - disappointed but not much to say here. Poking around that French stuff early, but my brain was heading towards clothes, gambling and law as areas of French vocab borrowings. Don't hit food till 36 and keep getting pulled away when associated words aren't getting great results.
― woof, Tuesday, 17 May 2022 10:03 (two years ago) link
I spent ages staring at this one before making any guesses; convinced myself it was some sort of booze but there were just too many things that I couldn't quite fit; some of the bullets pointed bits near the bottom that were like a_____ of _______ and a ______ of a ______ of ________ just had to be recipes of some sort; got it in 10 after initially being a bit too specific, luckily went down the sweet route first.
I think I might enjoy the process of just instinctively wanging loads of words in more than I do the process of thinking about this very carefully in order to keep the score low; I play this on my phone which makes detailed consideration trickier I think.

true - gets more tense staring at a blank wordle as time goes on, gritted teeth, telling myself it's going to be single figures today.

I find it strangely disappointing when I get it right and everything gets filled in, I forget all the things that were perplexing me - what could that two letter word there be? Is that the name of a book? The air of mystery just vanishes.
― buffalo tomozzarella (ledge), Tuesday, 17 May 2022 11:02 (two years ago) link
Yes! On the rare occasions that I go back to see what a section that I was wrestling with was, it’s just not an interesting exercise. The disenchantment is instant.

All that stuff about Round and round was very perplexing but I just went with the most obvious 12-letter word to find in such a context and that was that. The Round stuff still doesn't mean anything to me!
