I can see William Booth College on a clear day down Gipsy Hill plus I walk past a branch every day so no escaping today's.

Just looked at your spoiler because I was stuck after 20 guesses on a protestant church and organisation based or originating in London originally called the East London Christian Mission. I couldn't think of anything for that four letter word but I probably should have got it.

Ha! x-post

Not that quick, but quick. Stared at it for a while and then stabbed at derivative. The penny dropped, which we can express as dv/dt=k times blah blah blah.

Weird thing is that I saw a lowercase delta before I made any guesses, entered x, and then delta disappeared.

Some of that time was spent cajoling children into the bath. It was the first four letter sciency term i thought of, wasn't at all sure how it fitted with the rest of the first para but it provided a good second word so I went for it.

I had "fourth president" and "father of the constitution" by guess 40 or so, but it took me until 185 to get the name. Had it been any of presidents 1 through 3 I would have known, but the fourth eluded me for a long time. (I'm Canadian).

oddly i had the opposite problem to all of you by the sounds i got Southern quickly, after Antarctic but i was too land-centric in other guesses. also very confusing use of ° symbol

ha, turns out I never tried “Southern” - thought I did, but that was “southernmost”
