You're obviously dealing with pros. How did they get it so quickly? Through the ground?

She was as a surprised as anyone. It is a soccer board. her words were “I was only checking Tow Law because it’s the right type of town and their ground is famously on a hill”.
They are from the North East UK, so the famously can be treated with a suitable amount of salt.

Well, "right type of town" is the kind of intuition that goes a long way

Tuesday
― Tow Law City (cherry blossom), Tuesday, 16 August 2022 07:24 (two years ago) link
The lighthouse (if that's what it is) looks pretty distinctive and could be the key. I see a couple of towers in the distance that look like cathedral steeples, and a couple of other steeple-like constructions. I'm guessing it's a coastal city somewhere in Northern Europe, on the North or Baltic Seas or something.
― Zelda Zonk, Tuesday, 16 August 2022 07:49 (two years ago) link
There are a lot of striped lighthouses out there, I'm learning
― Zelda Zonk, Tuesday, 16 August 2022 08:03 (two years ago) link
Other distinctive factors: strange fin-like thing centre-left; incredibly long (but well-trimmed) hedge; apart from a red people-carrier, all the cars seem to be white, what are the odds of that? Row of flags has me thinking we're at one of those "international" hotels, so maybe the white cars are rentals.
― Zelda Zonk, Tuesday, 16 August 2022 08:11 (two years ago) link
Man centre-right with flaming red hair - although the apartment blocks on the left don't look too Irish to me
― Zelda Zonk, Tuesday, 16 August 2022 08:17 (two years ago) link
Ostend / Oostende / Ostende? Looks like Lange Nelle the lighthouse, those stripes in particular.
― Tim, Tuesday, 16 August 2022 08:23 (two years ago) link
Just beat me to it! Based on the flatness of the terrain I googled Ostend lighthouse and got Lange Nelle...

the white car thing is just a coincidence, judgng by the makeup of that parking lot on the Google Maps image

I had a trip to Ostend all planned out, we were going to see the big Van Eyck show in Ghent and it got COVIDed. :(

Ostend it is, that one went quickly!

Thursday

Top right hand corner there looks to be a Belgian flag in the window. If that's right, and I'm not entirely sure it is (do Belgians put flags in their windows?), then it's too hilly to be Flanders. There appears to be a street lift, but it's not the one in Brussels.
― Zelda Zonk, Thursday, 18 August 2022 09:52 (two years ago) link
Belgian flags can be seen on the national holiday or when there's international soccerball going on. Parts of Flanders are that hilly too.
― StanM, Thursday, 18 August 2022 10:44 (two years ago) link
guessing Liege maybe?
― StanM, Thursday, 18 August 2022 10:50 (two years ago) link
If it's Thursday this must be Belgium, again
― ignore the blue line (or something), Thursday, 18 August 2022 10:51 (two years ago) link
Could also be a German flag hanging down.
― Zelda Zonk, Thursday, 18 August 2022 11:52 (two years ago) link
black-yellow-red is Belgium. Germany has the red next to the black.
― StanM, Thursday, 18 August 2022 11:57 (two years ago) link
Is that a bridge or an elevator in the middle of the pic?
― ignore the blue line (or something), Thursday, 18 August 2022 12:18 (two years ago) link
Looks like an elevator to me, which should make this easy... but googling Belgian street elevators is not giving me the answer
― Zelda Zonk, Thursday, 18 August 2022 12:29 (two years ago) link
big glass roof to the left of the walking man - museum? government building?
― StanM, Thursday, 18 August 2022 14:45 (two years ago) link
or a train station, that could have an outside elevator too
― StanM, Thursday, 18 August 2022 14:52 (two years ago) link
given the suitcase i figured station
― koogs, Thursday, 18 August 2022 17:42 (two years ago) link
The street elevator and hairpin turn with mirror remind me of Monaco, but the trees on that hill look a bit too lush to be Mediterranean.
― o. nate, Friday, 19 August 2022 16:56 (two years ago) link
Apartment blocks definitely not swish enough to be Monaco. Whether this is Belgium or not, definitely getting Northern European vibes.
― Zelda Zonk, Saturday, 20 August 2022 02:33 (two years ago) link
We don't know :(
― StanM, Wednesday, 24 August 2022 17:28 (two years ago) link
I feel like this one should have been easy, with the Belgian flag in the window (possibly a red herring) and that very singular-looking structure which I assume is a lift/elevator down to a station. But it looks like we need another pic...

Phew, and thanks! I got it from the 'lyp cr' tag, then I spotted the monorail which had the right shade of green for its supports but couldn't find that bridge/elevator at all.

The monorail looks way cool and has its own unusual detail in wikipedia article:
The Wuppertal Suspension Railway, a suspended monorail, serves the city and its surroundings. It has operated since 1901, with new cars added beginning in December 2016. In 1950, a young elephant named Tuffi was put aboard the Wuppertal Schwebebahn (monorail), as a promotion for the Althoff Circus. The swinging tram upset the elephant, and she trumpeted, charged, and plummeted 12 m (40 ft) into the river below. Tuffi suffered minor injuries; she lived until 1989. In 1999, the Schwebebahn had its thus far only fatal accident.

the glass was a station but the elevator didn't go to it, so we were both right and astray

I got it from the 'lyp cr' tag

i searched for '"lyp" "cr" graffiti', second result says "I don't know anything about LYP Crew except they are from NRW, probably from the area Wuppertal" without even clicking through. pretty lucky, i doubt that would happen for most other tags.

― the man with the chili in his eyes (ledge), Thursday, 25 August 2022 15:55 (two years ago) link
we should've spotted that the black strip on the left was actually the side of the recessed window.
― the man with the chili in his eyes (ledge), Thursday, 25 August 2022 15:56 (two years ago) link
why I'll be... I was 100% sure on it being the Belgian flag but did not spot that the black wasn't part of the flag :(
