Summer 1980 I was super-lucky to be part of a road trip/fossil dig for a palentology museum and for four days we camped out just outside of Worland, Wyoming and dug out bucketfuls of ammonites and belemnites. At that same stopover I also saw my first rodeo and cowboy I guess (if you define it as someone who casually open carries a six-shooter as they would their hat), but it wasn't nearly as impressive as standing on a hill made out of jurassic squid parts.
