re: the DD-MM-YY vs. MM-DD-YY

the latter is much easier to sort in Excel. We really don't care about the day as much as the month, fwiw

Andy the Grasshopper, Friday, 23 December 2022 17:48 (one year ago) link

fuck the month, just give me the season

Karl Malone, Friday, 23 December 2022 17:52 (one year ago) link

same with days. no more days. let's switch to moons

Karl Malone, Friday, 23 December 2022 17:53 (one year ago) link

Q2 of calendar or fiscal year though? Like my birthday is in Q2 ... but in a July - June fiscal year, otherwise I am Q4 tbh and tbrr

sarahell, Friday, 23 December 2022 17:54 (one year ago) link

sarahell what is your fiscal year? your personal fiscal year?

Andy the Grasshopper, Friday, 23 December 2022 17:57 (one year ago) link

calendar quarter vs fiscal year quarter is going to supplant left vs right as the foremost ideological confrontation of the age

i vote calendar BUT i also propose calendar reform. i have described my preferred calendar reform many times over the years, at least once a year, so i will hold off on that for now

Karl Malone, Friday, 23 December 2022 17:57 (one year ago) link

sorry, xp

calendar quarter vs fiscal year quarter is going to supplant left vs right as the foremost ideological confrontation of the age

and not only is the calendar year vs the July-June year (common to a lot of local government and public sector entities because it maps more easily onto an academic year) a thing, but did you know that the US government has an October - September fiscal year? Like, wtf???? Whose fucking year begins in October???

sarahell, Friday, 23 December 2022 18:03 (one year ago) link

did you know that the US government has an October - September fiscal year?

not only did i know that, but that was my first exposure to FY politics and, to me, that is the true FY

there's a reason i'm on the calendar side these days

Karl Malone, Friday, 23 December 2022 18:08 (one year ago) link

July through June is much better fyi ...

sarahell, Friday, 23 December 2022 18:19 (one year ago) link

i guess a spoiler here, so i'll hide it, but

the evil marine guy was a clone. so, doesn't that take all of the drama out of killing him? why does it matter if he dies? what is the difference between him dying vs a Sony Aibo dying? just go buy another!

non-spoilery: here's what i want to see. give me 5 clones of the evil marine, and they all love spider and want to be the "true father"

i'm going to assume that's about the fabelmans.

Fresh milk! No lemonade? No ginger soy sauce?
Use yogurt! Of course not! small! Use MISO and THILI for a better taste!

Are you tired after walking? Experiences!
You are not a good friend. It is obvious! Of course I love you, send me!
Experiences! To turn on! what if there is no lemon? No ginger soy sauce?
Use yogurt! Use vinegar! Use MISO and THILI for a better taste!
leave the perfume! After the event!
You are lazy! Experiences! Of course I love you, send me!
milk? No lemonade? No Ravno ginger sauce! article
Use yogurt! Use vinegar! Use MISO and THILI for a better taste!
Select! All the time! This one!
You are lazy! I love you, send me!
Thanks for the poem, it seems clear my friend! Follow-up to the previous article that showed the importance of using and decorating the kitchen. This letter is about finding and enjoying creative new ways of eating, and the poem encourages readers to try new things and enjoy new ways of eating. Experiences!

I think part of the reason why people don’t really take celiac disease seriously is because “celiac” sounds like another name for celery root, “cream of celiac soup”, etc. If people wanted to take the affliction seriously they’d call it Deathwheat Disease or something

Oh god did I really write that an approach "was almost always agglutinative - building up thin layers of harmony that become orchestral in the aggregate"? What a pretentious ass. God, there should be some kind of ignition lock on my keyboard like they have for drunk drivers. I should be barred from posting unless I can demonstrate an appropriate level of good sense and humility.
