I thought it was Francis Drake, but that then helped me work it out!

Hah, I actually entered Walsingham because I was chasing down the Elizabeth trail and was pleasantly surprised at the number of hits for Francis.

I even got “derived from Latin for ‘sp*n*’” at some point, but yeah, I was hunting for fish

We had a puzzle hour at work which left my brain drained, so I appreciate having an easy Redactle today.

first guess was wasted, I could see the word would be too short, but I needed it to really focus. have to say tho, the phrasing of the “bordered by” part threw me.

I had some early hits for Hebrew which is close-but-no-cigar enough to have spent a lot of fruitless guesses. I got a bit lucky when I decided to try the House of Saud, even though both of those resulted in only 1 hit each.

That was on a laptop. On an iPad, it won't accept the first word at all.

The first word on the laptop is Earth's. However, it also appears twice in the body text as earth’s - different punctuation, y'see. On the laptop, the former character is generated from the keyboard, whereas on the iPad is the latter. I've sent the alternative spellings to myself so that I can paste them in, which works... but Redactle still doesn't mark the text as solved.

Here's another bug:
Checking the actual Wikipedia article, the first sentence reads "Earth's outer core is a fluid layer about 2,260 km (1,400 mi) thick". Redactle has rendered 2,260 km and 1,400 mi as the first digit + the given comma + the rest as one word, with an embedded space. Thing is, if you enter "260 km" or "400 mi" into the search box, whether on laptop or iPad, Redactle strips out the space and enters the guess as "260km" and "400mi" - which, of course, returns zero results.

Desktop, Redactle-Unlimited, no problems, although I had to enter the "s" after the apostrophe separately from "Earth" -- "earth's" returned 0 hits.

the shaker intro bit the shaker outro in the tail, hard (breastcrawl), Monday, 30 January 2023 21:26 (one year ago) link

So, people are seeing an apostrophe already there on the grid, then entering Earth and s separately? I don’t have that, just a solid seven character grey block for the first word. I can fill in the whole three word title, but without redactle marking it as solved. That’s on laptop, iPad and also iPhone (I just checked).
