world, new, spanish, gold, then hit a brick wall (might have got further if I'd guessed jewel instead of jewellery) but then saw what looked like 'worn' and then 'hat' in the first line.

I did get “king” at some point, but was focusing too much on the spiritual realm. and yes, “jewel” clinched the deal for me

btw, my clue that this was about relationships came when I went from the very productive “people” to “individual(s), and it was clear the word before it in the opening sentence had to be “two”

I got new right away, but I rather naively hoped that it was a US state despite evidence to the contrary. Still, I'm kind of satisfied how quickly I course-corrected.

I figured it was the world's second (or fourth) largest island, size was obvious, but that didn't help much. only ruminating on likely three letter words got me there. (I couldn't even have sworn the answer was an island!)

thought of island too late, and then thought of ‘New Foundland’ first - which isn’t even the right orthography (and only the world's 16th-largest island apparently)

i couldn't get the continent let alone country, thought the date might be much later due to the time of birth being specified. guessed peter after a while, took another while to get the right version.

Like ledge, I spent a lot of fruitless time in Europe until I finally tried Portugal, and since medieval didn't turn up, that all led pretty quickly to Brazil. But getting dude's name was a lucky guess, because I've watched YTs on this era but the first name barely lodged itself in my brain.

so proud of myself for getting this one so quickly with zero knowledge about this kind of stuff. got the second word in 8, the first word just came up in my brain, didn’t even know it was a real thing, but I guess I must have picked it up somewhere

blew it. second word in two then had to cheat. then kicked myself.
