it’s funny how these are so far removed from what is actually happening at the oscars at this point that, despite being the namesake for his son that ain’t never comin’ back, tim didn’t even mention tom cruise or top gun

they do just enough to remind people that it actually is live. Tim announcing who won Best Actor right as his life is imploding in front of his eyes is always a great moment

the way the dashcam footage got "leaked" was pretty brilliant, especially how it happened in real time - it was way more dramatic seeing everyone looking at their phones knowing exactly what they were seeing than it would've been if they'd just included it as a last minute twist

I didn’t watch the ceremony, but after encountering various reactions, maybe the “in memoriam” segment … shouldn’t be a montage or a song - instead just, like, Brad Pitt or whoever saying “let’s have a moment of silence for those we lost” then after that moment being like “to see who we lost check out oscars dot com” or whatever

is there a term for how this show is scripted but also kind of "real"? most of the characters use their real names (and both main guys tweet in character), a lot of the stuff is based on real events (Gregg really was in Ant-Man and on AMC, Decker is an actual show, the "Queen of Hearts" lady was picked because she was in Arthur, the tune Tim nicked "Empty Bottle" from was an actual song by those guys, etc.), and most of the reactions seem genuine. like in this one when they're showing the people watching the dashcam footage on their phones it actually does seem real. they're having conversations but you can't hear what they're saying, it all feels improvised and very candid. I'm not sure I can think of another show quite like that.
