the app still exists, so I assume the network does (I think I wound up deleting it, but I would occasionaly open it up as recently as a year ago and see just random images). Confusingly Ello is also now the name of a more high profile reading app that has nothing to do with old Ello.

I've had over 100 new followers since the back end of last week, and I haven't got a clue who most of them are, but it's a nice dopamine wave to ride.

I've been added to some lists and starter packs which has brought a flood of people. But just like on Twitter once upon a time, there are a couple of dozen people I interact with regularly.

The separate account for the podcast now has more followers than the old Twitter one did, helped by being added to a lit podcast starter pack the other day. These are all good things! (As for my own account, at its max I had 7000 followers; on Bluesky I was at 2700 before the big wave and I'm now over 5K. If trends hold I guess I'll reach that equivalent mark soon enough.)

I've had an account for over a year but like twitter I hardly post. I did delete twitter/x last week though and picked up a few followers. It feels really strange actually receiving likes and replies unlike twitter.

I made my Twitter account private, but I'm leaving it in place because I don't want Musk giving away my username. I haven't bothered downloading my archive because I don't remember or care about what I posted there - the ephemerality was the point.

A fair number of folks in the rap, blues, soul, Rnb , reggae, reggaeton , dc go-go and southern soul scenes once had twitter accounts but many of those listeners and musicians have just focused on Instagram and TikTok and Facebook and not yet established a Bluesky presence

grim irony that it’s the centrist US liberals migrating from twitter posting content, even if it’s the same old junk, and the early adopters and left-leaning crowd posting meta-arguments about muting/blocking/etc

there has at least been a concerted effort among the people I follow to block and ignore Resist twitter types (Mueller she wrote, jojo from jerz, etc), thank god. Probably within a year those dummies will have gained critical mass again but for now I'm glad enough people blocked them that I never see them getting reposted.
