Not a screenshot but: the post is from a bsky team technical advisor that says “Some of that Blue.” with a photo of a blue sky with which is just not remotely helpful.

the app still exists, so I assume the network does (I think I wound up deleting it, but I would occasionaly open it up as recently as a year ago and see just random images). Confusingly Ello is also now the name of a more high profile reading app that has nothing to do with old Ello.

I'm not even sure how my ilxmail works. Is that just the address I used to originally sign up/register? My login ID? How do I change that without re-registering?

No, that didn't do it. When I send an email (to myself) through that portal, by clicking on my screen name, it just sends to my original login ID, which is an old email address. But when I try to change that old login address to a new login address, my current email, it logs me out, because it no longer matches the one associated with the password. Hmm.

Haha, funny posts. To be fair to them though, it costs a lot of money and takes a lot of infrastructure for a site like Twitter/Bluesky to run – as it is whenever there is a flood of new people the site starts to stop loading posts etc.

Yeah, it is notably sluggish at the best of times.

Lotta placeholder accounts there right now with virtually no activity (including Tracer's, lol). I often can't tell if they are squatters trying to steal/scam the handle or legit mirrors of their twitter accounts.

For me it's about finding people I want to follow, since I don't really post.

I have done a lot of work to curate my feed there to include just accounts I really like hearing from (authors, musicians, artists, writers, science and weather and medical nerds, friends, articulate people angry about politics who I feel aligned with, legitimate reporters who I don't currently hate etc). It's easy to block trolls and ads that you don't like

I'm not going to give twitter up in the near future, I like it too much. I will just maybe see who among the people I like to follow is moving over there permanently and see whether or not there will end up being a critical mass.

A lot of my favorite accounts have already left twitter, but I have no idea where they went, they didn't all go to bluesky.

So I started curating my Bluesky account while the election was in full swing so I have a lot of political stuff popping up in my feed and now I hate it and never want to see it again until at some point I'll want to see it again.

Can I mute posts by keyword and later remove it? I don't want to unfollow all of those accounts because in 3.5 years I might want to see what's going on but for now I'm jitter scrolling, trying not to look at anything about our current hellscape.

Yes. I have muted the incoming president's last name and it's been very helpful. I may start muting RFK, Gaetz, and other words I don't feel like reading.

Same. I wouldn't say its painful but its worth just having a Blue Sky account. Every time there has been a 'migration' I just look and add a few more and refine just in case there is a collapse in twitter. Otherwise the follower/ing count is slightly down from Americans moving but there is more than enough left.
