when you find an old thread perfect to discuss the thing you want to discuss, rather than having to start a new thread, and it begins with a fairly offensive first post, so nah.....

Sure, but this is a single site that has, apparently, maintained its essential infrastructure while almost completely replacing its cast of characters.

Board lawyers (boring arseholes) insist you start an old thread rather than a new one and posts links to old ones.

Only problem is that people then respond to the og post than the revive

xp that’s good though. Places can calcify. Sometimes you read a thread from twenty or even ten years ago and it’s pretty awful reading, you know? People also are too beholden to stuff like not bumping old threads out of respect for discussions for twenty years ago; and honestly? Who cares.

Some old threads are best left unopened imo

you can usually guess who and what 00s ILM is going to be repulsive about and how so it would be nice to have new threads as a general rule in those cases unless someone is actually willing to go through and delete the worst offenders

even if the bad stuff is 20 years old and the current discussion is totally unrelated it's still a drag to see it at the top all the time and I'm sure it discourages many people from engaging more (which was the point at the time ofc)

Always go for a revive but I'm an old timer.
