its cliche and old hat to say but: kanye, taylor, beyonce. never cared and probably never will? i have *tried* to love beyonce and every other album or so i will attempt to make myself excited over one of her hour-long infomercial lifestyles of the rich and rich empowerment seminars in beautiful booty science and then i forget everything i saw and heard an hour later. i dug destiny's child okay. but they were no en vogue. kanye i never had any interest in as a producer or a rapper. never bought one of his albums. i never even really listened to a lot of the stuff he did for other people. he worked with people i respected but i didn't buy their records. talib kweli. the game. even jay-z. oh, yeah, i have never cared about jay-z either. never loved him as a rapper (though he obv talented as fu**) and didn't care about anything else he did. go to a lot of public events. marry rich. smoke cigars. i don't care about cigars either. and taylor, yeah, i don't care and it would take so much effort to even try to care. i see and hear her by osmosis so she already gets into my psychic airspace without me lifting a finger. if you gave me the title to any of her songs that wasn't "shake it off" i wouldn't know it. maybe if i heard it. i watched the long-version of her sad jake video. that was pretty cool. in an experimental *how much art can you take?* mark kozelek sorta way. but she is so bland. super-talented i'm sure. maybe its nice that she's so wholesome for the kids. that's nice, right? but the world is on fire. wait, she is singing the kids to sleep while the world burns. awwww, now i like her more. that IS a valid function. i'm sure her songwriting is next level and bonkers creative and someone should tell me about it no wait don't. she came to my street when she was dating this kennedy kid while he was going to deerfield academy and i was closed! missed her by that much. you KNOW she would have come in and gone full visa commercial and showed the kennedy kid a funny record cover and pull his hat down and laugh and dance to the crazy sounds in my store. or maybe not. she DID go to Taylor's Tavern across the street for lunch though. because of the name.

but i don't hate any of them or anything. i don't even hate kanye. i feel bad for him. he's been pretty fucked up.
― scott seward, Friday, 15 September 2023 01:05 (one year ago)
(not that the things he's been saying haven't been horrible/scary but i do think of him, rightly or wrongly, within the context of "do you feel like you are a danger to yourself or others...". he seems like an unwell person. who needs wellness.)

omg, the mothertrucking bling ring! that movie was lame and any documentary about it is lame and now i see a promo for a SHOCKING INTERVIEW WITH THE RICH GIRL WHO WAS THE RINGLEADER...i dare you to say bling ring ringleader ten times fast.
who fucking cares? because they were young good looking rich kids? because they stole from rich people? everyone steals from rich people. why do you think god made maids?
― scott seward, Friday, 6 October 2023 14:03 (one year ago)
god made maids to swing bling to rings

The movie was great. Sofia Coppola's a genius. I have no interest in anything beyond that, though.
― read-only (unperson), Friday, 6 October 2023 14:25 (one year ago)
that movie sucked. i can definitely see sofia getting all hot about it. but it was boring and sucked. a million teens-in-trouble t.v. movies are better.
― scott seward, Friday, 6 October 2023 14:30 (one year ago)
it's my least favorite of her movies certainly but I thought it was fun

seeing the eclipse was cool but i do not care about photographs of it. my fb feed is now onto bad photoshops of the eclipse over dramatic nature moments. someone should photoshop the eclipse above a photo of them on the pot taking a shit, at least it would be funny.

Football matches starting with a minute's silence for some news story irrelevant to the sport, be it war, child murders or Captain Tom keeling over once and for all. Just get the fucking ball rolling! Especially annoying when there's some public debate over whether and how the silence should be observed.

probably cuz i mentioned ruth garbus was on office hours cuz she is from here - or brattleboro anyway - and she is buds with chris who lives there as well.

i deejayed a thing last summer in brat and chris played with my pal omeed. at epsilon spires. which is a cool spot and it is run by jamie from the bunnybrains my brother's old band.

those guys are on a whole other wavelength than me. they are in to that kinda academic super-minimal weird tuning thing and i don't really always get it because i am bad at math. but they are cool. omeed was also in Donkey No No with my friends gen and ted and a toy wooden donkey.

when alfred posts i am a little sad that i stopped drinking before i ever had a negroni. i'm also a little worried about his obsession with negronis. haha! kidding. but i guess i never really cared about....cocktails! i was a beer and wine person from beginning to end. for my own benefit. i drink really fast. or used to. maybe i can get a mock negroni around here.

Cool! I wasn't aware of him prior to the Blake Mills record but he's an interesting & talented weirdo for sure. I know a few of those and it's always nice when one of them gets dragged into the spotlight. :) I'm pretty sure that a Blake Mills-produced record of his material is in the cards.
xp

scott, the cool thing about Negronis: you only need one! They're such a combination of sweet-sour that to order two is to risk gagging. I can't mix'em on consecutive days either.
― hat trick of trashiness (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Monday, 16 October 2023 16:40 (one year ago)
I'm fairly sure mocktail versions exist
Negronis are at the nexus of exciting and revolting

I went for a late night walk to the bottle-o last night to pick up all the ingredients for a Negroni, credited to your consistent promotion on this board. It tasted great and I am currently buying the hype.

negronis are great to order if you're in an unfamiliar bar and you need to get a feel for the bartender's capabilities before ordering something more complex. cause it's pretty hard to screw up a negroni. if it's subpar or just okay, at least you know what their limitations are. if it tastes like the childhood in Italy you never had and when you close your eyes you see candy stripes everywhere and you're at the cirque le carnival de venise, and then the boozy kick of the gin hits you and threatens to whisk you off to dreamland, you know your bartender can mix a drink.

my local does a Curry Negroni which is interesting but a bit much for me
their Garibaldi is like a slushy delight, though
― ɥɯ ︵ (°□°) (mh), Tuesday, 17 October 2023 14:28 (one year ago)
Deflator I beg to differ on "hard to screw up."
I am a musician so I spend a lot of time in bars, and you might be surprised by how many drinks that are hard to screw up, and yet, people do.
I have been in bars that screwed up a beer. Like, "gimme a beer" and they're like, "okay, what's in that?"
― The Royal House of Hangover (Ye Mad Puffin), Tuesday, 17 October 2023 23:41 (one year ago)
there's a fairly novice bartender at the bar where I hang and sometimes work the door, and I saw him intently studying the weird amaro bottles.. I asked what he was looking for: "Greyhound!"

― Andy the Grasshopper, Tuesday, 17 October 2023 23:50 (one year ago)
yeah. I think a quick bartending class could help in some places, but just figuring it out on the job is par forthe course It’s always an experience watching someone order a drink that’s probably above the expected level in a place even if they have the ingredients, usually falling back on the customer not gauging their environment. Probably not so much on that drink, if they have juice
― ɥɯ ︵ (°□°) (mh), Wednesday, 18 October 2023 00:02 (one year ago)

Lots of very good drinks have precisely two ingredients separated by an ampersand.
Just sayin.
― The Royal House of Hangover (Ye Mad Puffin), Wednesday, 18 October 2023 00:24 (one year ago)
sometimes the bartender doesn’t know for sure if you’re just there for a nice drink or to get loaded and you get the crispiest gin&tonic ever. having a clued-in person helps
― ɥɯ ︵ (°□°) (mh), Wednesday, 18 October 2023 00:46 (one year ago)

i don't think i've ever gone on bandcamp? i feel bad for ned though. i know he loves the place. and anyone hear who works/worked there! sorry it got bought by evildoers. that's just the way of the techbizzness though i think. buy and then dump and then lay off and then buy something else and....forever. seems like it would make you so tired to do that all the time.
