The WaPo story was the one I found the most tragic/sad. She allegedly stabbed or attempted to stab a solider, was in turn shot by the police during her arrest, then an Israeli solider (whose father was recently killed by stone throwing Palestinians) rushed to apply first aid, saving her life. Circle of violence.

so the leak points at the attack being meticulously planned rather than them being surprised at the lax security and killing more/taking far more hostages that they expected was possible.

Everything I've seen from the outset suggests the attack was meticulously planned for a long time. It's possible that both things are true, i.e. it was both meticulously planned and even more devastating than Hamas expected and they were able to take more hostages than expected. I also don't think "warning" means Israel knew with any certainty that an attack was imminent, and there were circumstances particular to the timing of the attack that meant security was even more lax than normal due to the holiday and the movement of extra troops to the West Bank.
I think pretty much everyone in Israel agrees that Bibi's govt was at a minimum grossly negligent, and some feel that he was extra careless because the people in the area attacked are mostly center-liberal to left and not Likkud voters.

Mariam Barghouti مريم البرغوثي@MariamBarghouti🚨large scale invasion of Jenin, north of the West Bank (11:00 local. At least 1,000 Israeli soldiers on the invasion and 120 armored vehicles (which is a parade of military power around 480 meters long)
🏥hospitals are being besieged and it’s premises taken over by Israeli forces. 🏥 ambulances being searched by the Israeli army and obstructed according to the Red Crescent.
Two days ago four Palestinians were killed in Jenin. The week before that, on November 17th there was a large scale invasion that killed three Palestinian men, but also left the refugee camp of Jenin destroyed.
- since last year at least 4 massacres happened in Jenin refugee camp. Beyond that, extrajudicial assassination of Palestinians suspect of confrontation with arms has been a constant occurrence. Often these assassination missions were also tasked with killing as many civilians and minors as possible, these constituted most of the killings in Jenin.
Right now, as the world stayed silent across every massacre and invasion of Jenin, 1000 soldiers are attacking the small camp.

It's hard not to find allegory in this story. Hamas terrorists shot and killed three civilians (a pregnant woman and two elderly men) at a bus stop in Jerusalem. An armed Israeli civilian helped to stop the attack from going further. An extremist settler IDF member outright executed him after he had dropped his gun and put his hands up, presumably thinking he was one of the Hamas shooters.

"Far-right activists are slated to march on the Temple Mount on Thursday evening to demand an end to control by the Waqf, the Islamic endowment which administers the site holy site and has traditionally expressed strong opposition to any Jewish religious expression there.
The mount is home of the Dome of the Rock and Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the location of the Jewish temples in antiquity.
The demonstration, which will coincide with the first night of Hanukkah, is being billed as the Maccabi March—a nod to the Hasmonean revolt against the Seleucids and the Hellenized Jewish elite in ancient Judea, culminating in the rededication of the Holy Temple."

West BankCNN — A video reviewed by CNN Tuesday shows a man in military fatigues shooting and wounding a mentally disabled Palestinian near the occupied West Bank city of Hebron.
Tarek Abu Abed, known to friends and family as “Ghazzawi,” was on his way home Tuesday when he was stopped by three men in military fatigues and asked for identification, Tarek’s brother Diaa Abu Abed told CNN by telephone on Tuesday.
Amazing what a lot of Western media are reporting on.

Video this MIT neuroscientist speaks about is on the tweet. I just wanted to paste the full text by him here.
---@AjAqrabawiI’ve seen this @MIT student on Jake Tappers show @CNN. Here she’s speaking to the house GOP and was kind enough to give me a personal shout out. I never thought my speech would make it so far, thank you for amplifying my statements (~1:28 mark)!
Weird, why am I never invited to share my experience as a Palestinian with the establishment? Why does she feel that her safety and comfort should take priority over mine?
She claims Jewish students feel the need to hide their perspectives, yet the Zionists among them have not been shy in their incessant emails to admin, trying to get me fired for speaking my own. She doesn’t seem very intimidated complaining about me and the CAA to the US congress.
It’s incredible how frustrated Zionists get when their perceived supremacy is challenged by the tolerance of Palestinian voices on campus.
Would it help these students feel less alone if I shared the hundreds of hate messages & threats I’ve received since Oct. 7? Perhaps invite me to speak with them directly in a formal setting, maybe then they might understand that I also just want to do science in peace?
Anyway, I don’t know who this is and I’m not too interested either. I just wanted to point out the clear double standards, and express my admiration towards MIT for remaining principled thus far; truly exercising equity and inclusivity. I honestly wasn’t expecting it.
