David Soul was a guy who had a lot of acting chops. Weirdly my first exposure to him was as one-half of a psychotic bank robbing duo in the TV film In the Line of Duty: The FBI Murders. The other psycho was Michael Gross! They were both superb and the final shootout is genuinely intense and bleak.

Saw Beckenbauer play in the first soccer match I ever attended, 1977 or '78 when he was with the New York Cosmos. Great team that was.

I never got to see the Cosmos play live, but to the extent there was soccer on TV in the western U.S. (which was almost not at all), I did get to see that club, which consisted of several aging greats and Italian fugitive Giorgio Chinaglia. IIRC, they did play some friendlies with German clubs and got pasted.

But RIP Der Kaiser, the original sweeper.

Aw man... Saw The Untouchables at least 6-7 times in the early 80s. "Free Yourself" is still all-time.

"Free Yourself" - "I Spy (For the FBI)" - "Agent Double-O Soul"...they definitely should have been bigger but never got to be more than an L.A. thing.

Free Yourself was top 30 in the UK and i definitely heard FBI quite a lot (on radio luxembourg anyway)

I recommended that The Untouchables get hired to play a party at my school in New Orleans in the mid-80's and they were a blast. We had Fishbone at the same party a year prior and I thought The Untouchables would bring that same magic and they did.

The Untouchables played an unbelievably great show at my college gym in 1986. The Red Hot Chili Peppers opened - only Anthony was nowhere to be found, so the band pulled audience members up on stage to sing. It was kinda working too... Hillel was an erratic genius and just as they were getting better at handling whatever college kid was shouting about on stage they started getting heckled by a guy in the back. It was Anthony heckling his own band and after whatever they were playing ended, the drummer (Jack Irons?) ran off the front of the stage and made a beeline for Anthony, fists out in front. They went down and that was it. The Untouchables played and fucking killed.
