Call it Windrush if you want, but it'll always be the If You See Someone Homeless Or Asking for Money, Donate to Whitechapel Mission line to me ❤️

If they want to discourage begging, why are the trains designed to optimise begging conditions lol

the tube names are probably worse overall but maybe better because at least they're transparent about their imperialism
there's something so deflating about seeing historical and ongoing struggles being folded so smoothly into the national narrative without any sort of reckoning and it gives me danny boyle olympic ceremony feelings

Also lol @ 'Liberty line', like they won't go for this woke stuff in Havering guys, better use something generic so we don't have to name it after Brexit

tbf this will probably annoy the right people so, y'know, whatever

I must be one of the right people because the Lioness line annoys me.

Not as annoying as when they won the Euros tho eh? EH?

What would they have done if they'f actually won the World Cup? Renamed London Lioness?
― The British Boy of Film Classification (Tom D.), Thursday, 15 February 2024 12:29 (four months ago) link
I never knew the names of the lines anyway, it was always 'that one that goes to (place I want to go to)'. Can guarantee that no-one will actually use these names, esp. the Suffragette line unless they're calling it the Suffering line or somesuch.
Also how do you actually pronounce Mildmay? I've never known, is it miled-may or milled-may?
Voted Suffragette btw as it was my local line when I lived in Harringay and all these names are terrible anyway.

Does the Mildmay line go anywhere near Mildmay Park? Because if not, it's going to confuse a lot of people.
Suppose I will vote, eventually, although it's a poor lot to choose from and I wish there was a 'none of the above' or 'leave things how they are' option.
Wonder which line will become the Charles Line when the inevitable happens?
― Grandpont Genie, Thursday, 15 February 2024 12:44 (four months ago) link
The old Mildmay park station is along the line
― Ethinically Ambigaus (Bananaman Begins), Thursday, 15 February 2024 12:56 (four months ago) link
Mildmay is the rural juror of train line names

"So, what are we voting for?"
The one you like, the one you don't, whatevs.
It's like the uproar is "oh, all this money spent on renaming" but as soon as they can, the "opposition" will be renaming these the Churchill line, the Gladstone Line, or even The Harold Wilson line, because the one thing they like and respect, it's a "left-wing" leader that's dead and buried.
