Definitely not.
Agree it's Britain, not sure Ive seen that form of cigarette bin anywhere else either.

Pretty sure it's New Zealand for no particular reason.

Google has it as Marin City rather than Sausalito, whats the difference (if there is one)?

Ha, clearly I never went past the Golden Gate Bridge, glad someone said NZ to save me from my lonely shame :)

and I must say that Sausalito, Strawberry, and Tiburon is quite the trio of names

(Strawberry being next to Manzanita too)

Ouch sorry I missed this!
That apartment complex is technically Sausalito but adjacent to Marin City (a block away down the hill) and the view is of Strawberry (Harbor Point)/Belvedere and a little bit of Angel Island.

First thought is Wales but nothing jumping out about yet about how to narrow it down
― Tow Law City (cherry blossom), Friday, 31 May 2024 12:49 (two weeks ago) link
There's one of those ship steering wheels on the red house, which suggest on the coast. I know inland people might do that too but lets say its less likely for now
― Tow Law City (cherry blossom), Friday, 31 May 2024 12:51 (two weeks ago) link
I think not Wales because they've moved to recycling bags for different types of material instead of all-in bins.
Other than that I don't see a way to narrow it down much further.
― Overtoun House windows (aldo), Friday, 31 May 2024 12:55 (two weeks ago) link
It's not a ship's wheel I don't think, could be a cart wheel maybe?
― Overtoun House windows (aldo), Friday, 31 May 2024 12:57 (two weeks ago) link
Oh, hmm, I was about to say I found some semi-similar streets in Milford Haven but very easily a false positive as houses like this could be all over.
Is that recycling thing Wales-wide?
― Tow Law City (cherry blossom), Friday, 31 May 2024 12:57 (two weeks ago) link
I think it depends on the council but I've just checked Pembrokeshire and they're bags and boxes so not Milford Haven.
― Overtoun House windows (aldo), Friday, 31 May 2024 13:00 (two weeks ago) link
are the TV aerials still a thing everywhere in the UK or does this mean we're looking at a smaller island maybe?
― StanM, Friday, 31 May 2024 13:17 (two weeks ago) link
Not every county has blue bins, looks like the houses are ex-council as people have painted them / attached random shit to them etc. I'm taking a punt at a post-war estate in somewhere like Oxford. Cutteslowe?

The last time Camaraderie at Arms Length did one of these Britain ones it was in China so there might be a curveball in there

dont think I'm giving anything away by saying no, it's not in Cutteslow or in China

― nxd, Friday, 31 May 2024 16:52 (two weeks ago) link
We have to be missing something, its too generic on the face of it. I felt Wales on a hunch but it could be somewhere like Retford just as easily
― Tow Law City (cherry blossom), Saturday, 1 June 2024 05:09 (two weeks ago) link
I think...this is Liverpool, but can't pin down

Wondering if itβs somewhere like Hull or Grimsby.
― Dan Worsley, Sunday, 2 June 2024 17:20 (two weeks ago) link
i thought Liverpool because of the purple bins. But it's too generic a picture

I may post another

Bins are what took me there, its a match on that. Found some similar streets in the south, around Speke, similar mix of cream and red, also with the higher slope on roof and road/pavement state. But...its generic and I started to see what I wanted to see

A casual trawl through Penzance has a similar vibe but the bins are wrong.

was that wall repaired/rebuilt with different bricks? is that a clue?
― StanM, Monday, 3 June 2024 03:14 (two weeks ago) link
The bigger clue is probably now the silver/grey van with blue diagonal
― Tow Law City (cherry blossom), Monday, 3 June 2024 03:20 (two weeks ago) link
I've no idea, but am always amazed at just how UK-ish just about any random pic of a UK street is. There's nowhere else on the planet those pics (particularly the first one) could be! Maybe Picardy or Flanders at an absolute stretch...

Could it be Ireland? (asking as a Yank)
― Mrs. Ippei (Steve Shasta), Monday, 3 June 2024 04:10 (two weeks ago) link
Unless someone can identify the city via its domestic bin configuration (blue bin + grey/darker blue (?) bin is unusual), there appears to be nothing else in either picture that would narrow it down much.
― Wry & Slobby (Portsmouth Bubblejet), Monday, 3 June 2024 08:12 (two weeks ago) link
No, the silver van is possibly a clue but that styling is pretty generic.
Big blue bins have been the only thing so far that has eliminated any cities.
― Overtoun House windows (aldo), Monday, 3 June 2024 09:04 (two weeks ago) link
Are blue bins that unusual? We have a dark grey bin for household waste, green bin for garden waste and a blue bin for recycling plastic, paper etc
― Dan Worsley, Monday, 3 June 2024 09:14 (two weeks ago) link
We've only got grey for household and green for recycling. Garden waste your own responsibility to take to the tip or organise specific collection.
My parents have got 5 or 6 bins I think, and as I said above I found out the other week some Welsh councils don't have bins at all now but about 6 or 7 different bags and boxes.
― Overtoun House windows (aldo), Monday, 3 June 2024 09:28 (two weeks ago) link
don't a strangely high number of these houses have new roof tiles? this with the repaired wall... was this a big disaster location maybe?
― StanM, Monday, 3 June 2024 09:32 (two weeks ago) link
Nah more likely the council went through a roof replacement programme and the unchanged one in the middle had gone under right to buy so wasn't included.
Walls are replaced all the time - could have been due to other works.
These look like post war council housing stock of the 50s/early 60s.
